How did you two meet?

You know what I was thinking here... That times have changed a lot for us. It's just a fact. And the relationship between a man and a woman has also changed a lot. We, children of the Soviets, are dragging behind us the train of attitudes of that time. I look at my friends and as an example I can’t give a single one in Soviet style strong family. In our acting circles, in my opinion, there are no such people at all. Times have changed, the needs and the very concept of family have changed. A story in the spirit of “they got married and went through life together” is the exception rather than the rule, and some kind of incredible rarity. I think that my family was still... And that too. Everything played its role. We parted peacefully. But now I doubt the need for family in the sense in which we are used to thinking about it. What function, following tradition, does a woman perform in the family? She cooks food, takes care of the children, her appearance and so on. Nowadays no one cooks food for a long time, and there’s nothing to say about sex - it’s basically like buying a can of cola. That is, the functions of a woman as a wife are reduced to zero. They are compensated by a completely accessible service sector. And it's the same for women. Everything is equal: women earn the same as men. Therefore, when people in a couple begin to get used to each other or they have difficulties, they think: “Why fight this? It’s better to separate and find others.”

How is your relationship with Lily?

We have honest relationship: Lilya knows that I don’t see myself in the registry office, with diapers and so on. I see myself as a self-sufficient, free person who can be in a relationship with a woman and be responsible for it - this is a different format. I agree with you. (Shrug.) I must love my daughter. I have to help my daughter. Everything else is her life. I know families in which a “boy” my age cannot take a step without his mother. What is it? Ivan, do Lilya and Masha already know each other?

Yes, of course, I introduced them. Everything is fine here: Masha is an incredibly sociable, cheerful friend. She is now six and a half years old, and already has a strong artistic character. She already says herself: “Dad, I want to be an actress” - she is very interested in this. And I will respect any choice she makes; the child must make it himself. In the acting profession, everyone is afraid of a silent phone, but in another field, probably, there is some kind of fad... There is no profession that would allow you to end up in chocolate. We all live in the same conditions.

Not a single day of rest! We’re talking to you now, and this is my “sleep” day. I'm filming a film called "Karpman's Triangle" and I'm glad I was given a role in it. ( Smiling.)
