Don't be afraid to experiment with ingredients!

A short video master class with step by step description process:

Didn't have time to meet New Year- How to prepare gifts for Christmas. And here it is useful to remember that the most best gift- made with your own hands. But such a gift should not only be pleasant and beautiful, but also useful. What could be healthier than soap?

When humanity invented soap, the number of diseases associated with unsanitary conditions began to decline. But science and chemical industry do not stand still, and over time, soap has ceased to be a completely safe product.

Soap philosophy

Soap is a chemical product, a mixture of sodium and potassium salts fatty acids. It is made using the transformation of a variety of acids under the influence of hydroxides. Roughly speaking, ordinary lard is taken, caustic soda is added to it, heated, and soap is obtained.

But not all soap is equally useful. So, soap removes everything from the skin indiscriminately, so you cannot constantly wash with bactericidal soaps every day. In addition, soap can degrease the body.

When choosing soap in a store, you need to carefully study the packaging to know whether it is natural or synthetic. Synthetic ones wash the skin too well and wash away absolutely the entire layer of sebum.

It is also important to avoid all possible reactions to soap - skin, allergic. Allergy sufferers are generally recommended to wash with baby soap. If your skin is oily, you can use any cosmetic or toilet soap. And if you have acne on your oily skin, then it is better to choose sulsen soap for washing.

But the healthiest and best soap is the one you make yourself, because you know exactly what it consists of. In addition, making soap is a fun and creative process, which makes it possible to obtain a product with the properties that your skin needs.

Homemade soap contains a maximum of natural ingredients and the fragrance you like.

How to become a soap maker?

You will need:

  • Baby soap or a special soap base, which can be purchased at specialized craft stores. It can be transparent or matte.
  • Soap mold.
  • Fatty oil (olive oil is fine).
  • Flavoring.
  • Dye.
  • Additives as desired.

Process:

1. Shape. Choose a mold for your future soap. This can be a special plastic mold from a craft store or something you have on hand: children's sand molds, yogurt cups or milk cartons, a silicone baking mold (most convenient for beginners).

2. Soap base or cut baby soap into cubes and melt in a water bath or in the microwave. If you use a microwave, be careful, the base heats up very quickly and it should not boil. It is better to stay near the stove and stir the base periodically.

3. Fatty oil. Pour 100 grams of soap base into a glass and add 1/3 teaspoon of fatty oil. Don't overdo it because if there is too much oil, the finished soap won't foam.

4. Color. Dyes can be dry, liquid, pigments, pearls. In addition, natural ingredients can give color to soap. For example, chocolate will give soap brown, and the coffee is black.

Dry dyes are very concentrated. They need to be dissolved in water and only then added to the soap with a pipette. If you add too much dye, the soap suds will be colored.

Liquid dyes are already diluted and are very convenient to use. Add 1-10 drops per 100 g of soap. You can mix them together, so all you need to do is buy dyes of the primary colors - red, yellow and blue.

Pigments are insoluble colored powders. Take a third of a teaspoon of pigment per 100 g of soap base, mix in a teaspoon with fatty oil so that there are no lumps. Only then add it to the base. If you choose a pigment, use it at the stage of adding fatty oil to the soap so that you don’t end up with too much of it. Also keep in mind that the pigment clouds the soap base. So, if you use a clear base, after adding pigment, the soap will still turn matte.

Mother of pearl is sparkles, glitters. They will make the soap more festive and elegant. Can be used in conjunction with any of the other types of dyes.

5. Aroma. For a pleasant smell, you can add either essential oil (3-7 drops per 100 g of base) or water-based fragrances (3-4 drops per 100 g) to the soap. Do not mix essential oils and fragrances with each other - the smell will end up unpleasant. But different essential oils in one soap, as well as different fragrances, can be mixed. Consider also the fact that essential oils have additional properties, for example, orange or ginger essential oil invigorates, and lavender essential oil, on the contrary, calms.

6. Cosmetic additives. Additional ingredients can be added to the soap to enrich it and give it additional properties or to make a scrub soap. You can add to soap:

  • chocolate or cocoa,
  • powdered milk,
  • oat flakes,
  • coconut flakes,
  • cosmetic clay,
  • coffee,
  • orange or lemon zest.

7 . When you have added everything you need to the soap, you need it pour into mold and cool in the refrigerator or on the windowsill. You can remove the soap from the mold only when it has completely cooled down. The silicone mold is easily removed, literally turning inside out, so it is optimal for beginners and for those who save time. The plastic one gives more room to imagination, but it’s harder to pull the soap out of it. If you can’t get the soap out of the mold at all, leave it for a few days, it will dry out and it will be easy to get out.

Demand for foaming products self made getting higher every day. Soap gained popularity not only because it looks beautiful and unusual: this factor was also influenced by the fact that such products do not contain chemicals which can harm the skin.

  7. Forms for filling.
  8. Plastic cups, plastic spoons, wooden chopsticks, rubber gloves.

Warp

Available in the form of bars or shavings. The base contains alkali, water, vegetable oils. It can be transparent or matte. In craft stores where you can buy soap base, you can also find special composition for making soap with swirls - beautiful swirls. This base has a more viscous consistency, which allows the layers of the mixture not to mix with each other, but to intertwine in an original way or even to be within clearly defined boundaries.

Instead of buying special soap base, you can use baby soap. This will be the most simple option to make a new piece of detergent. However, such a product will always be matte. Beginning soap makers should take into account that the special base lathers better, has no odor, does not cause irritation, and also hardens and dries faster than baby soap.

Fragrant additives can be used to prevent and treat skin diseases, for example, shea butter and tea or rose tree oil, fir oil to achieve a calming effect, and orange oil to vitaminize the skin. The many available essential additives allow you to create unique compositions not only in terms of smell, but also in terms of healing effect.

Important! Essential oils are added 1-2 drops per 100 g of soap base - their excess causes allergies and even burns.

Dyes

Not only safe commercial mineral-based formulations are used, but also any home remedies - fruit or vegetable juice, food coloring, herbal decoctions. Sometimes the base oil already imparts color, for example, fir oil paints a piece in pleasant green shades. Regular cinnamon imparts a faint aroma and a rich brown color. A substance called titanium dioxide, which is absolutely harmless to health, makes the soap matte. Special pearlescent dyes give a charming shimmer.

Decorative decorations, useful additives

Decorations include all kinds of sparkles, dried fruits, petals, pieces of plants, coffee beans, seeds. Healthy Supplements- milk, cream, coffee grounds, honey, chocolate, ground cereals, loofah - give a moisturizing, nourishing, scrubbing, massage effect.

Molds, alcohol and accessories

Particular attention is paid to the choice of molds for pouring soap. They allow you to give the pieces interesting shapes. Flowers, animal silhouettes, geometric shapes- everything fits. Among the materials, preference should be given to silicone, rubber, plastic, because it is difficult to get finished products made of glass or ceramics is quite difficult. Can be used not only special forms, but also any you like, for example, for baking or even children’s molds for making Easter cakes.

Attention! You cannot use metal molds for pouring liquid soap mass due to unforeseen chemical reactions- products may change color or become hazardous to health.

Medical alcohol poured into a spray bottle will help get rid of the formation of small bubbles on the finished soap. The liquid must be sprayed onto the mold before pouring and onto the surface of the piece that remains outside. If a multi-layer product is being made, then each layer must be sprayed.

Additional accessories include plastic cups for diluting the base, wooden sticks for stirring it, plastic measuring spoons for base oil, pipettes for essential oils, toothpicks for scratching adjacent surfaces when making multi-layer products. It is advisable to work with thin gloves, and if soap shavings are used, it is better to wear a respirator.

  2. While the first layer is drying, make a second layer - add titanium dioxide, cappuccino flavoring, and a drop of purple dye to the base to give it a tint.
  3. Carefully scratch the frozen first layer with a toothpick so that the second tier sticks firmly to it. Pour the second layer, sprinkle with alcohol.

8. Coniferous tornado

Not the easiest recipe for making soap, because it uses a technique with swirls - beautiful swirls. For such a product, a special base is taken - in stores it is called “Base for making soap with swirls”. It differs from a regular base in a thicker consistency, which prevents the interpenetration of liquid layers. The product is made from half a kilo of base, since it is difficult to make swirls from ingredients taken in small quantities. The piece is then cut into small pieces.

Let's take a closer look at the manufacturing process:

  • half a kilo of melted base is poured equally into two glasses;
  • in one of the glasses, 3 drops of green pigment are pre-diluted with 5 ml of water, since it will be difficult to mix the dye with the melted base;
  • in another glass a matte mass is made using titanium dioxide;
  • Add a spoonful of fir oil to each glass, mix everything thoroughly, and remove bubbles with alcohol.

The main thing in obtaining beautiful swirls is the pouring technique.

Take a square silicone mold and pour a puddle of dark green mixture into the center. Do not try to pour so much that the liquid immediately spreads over the entire bottom area. Then pour a little matte mixture into the center of the green spot, then green again into its center, then matte again, and so pour both cups until the base in them runs out. Spray the surface with alcohol. After the soap has dried, cut it into pieces - the amazingly beautiful swirls will not leave anyone indifferent.

Beneficial properties: calming effect.

9. Citrus scented massage soap

The massage effect is achieved using loofah - a dried Asian plant with a porous structure. The well-known washcloths are made from loofah. You can buy it at a craft store.

Here's what you need to make this unusual soap:

  • take a piece of loofah and soak it in a round cup for 15 minutes until it takes the same shape;
  • After softening, remove the loofah, squeeze out, dry thoroughly paper towel- excess water can spoil the properties of soap;
  • melt 170 g of transparent base, pour it into two glasses;
  • in the first glass add 6 drops of grape seed carrier oil, 7 drops of yellow dye, 3 drops of orange flavoring;
  • in the second glass, add the same amount of flavoring and base oil, and take 6 drops of red and 2 drops of yellow dye - the result is a mass reddish-orange colors;
  • wait until the mixture in each glass thickens a little and a light film appears on its surface;
  • put the loofah in the mold and start pouring the soap mixtures from two glasses at the same time, but in different corners;
  • Using a wooden stick, smooth the border between the colors and remove bubbles with alcohol.
