Basket of wooden sticks. DIY paper basket: step-by-step master classes for beginners with photo and video materials

People began to weave wicker baskets with their own hands a long time ago. This material They were also used in the manufacture of fences and cradles for babies. Even dishes were made from vines. Nowadays, wicker baskets owe their popularity to mushroom pickers. They are the ones who use such products more than other people. Good decision– weave and a separate option for picnics or home use. There are many design ideas - from the simplest to the stylish and fashionable. At the same time, it is easy to make this item yourself.

Choosing the right material

The first thing you need to do is select the material. It must be of high quality. The service life of the product depends on this indicator. Usually the vine is cut at the very beginning of spring or autumn. It is believed that at this time it has great strength.

A high-quality vine branch is determined as follows: at the thickest point, bend it all the way. It should not burst or crack. A material that meets these parameters is suitable for weaving. Important nuance– each branch must ripen.

The vine must be processed, because recently cut wood will not be able to hold the shape of the basket. There are two methods for preparing branches: soaking and leveling. In the first case, the rods are treated under running water or placed in a container and the liquid is changed every day. The water should completely cover the wood. To prevent it from floating up, it should be pressed down with a weight. This procedure must be carried out within two weeks.

The second method is faster and will take three hours. The rods must be placed in a large container and filled with boiling water. The mixture is boiled for about two hours. You should cool the vine and begin to separate the bark from the twigs. The peculiarity of the second method is that the vine branches will acquire brightness and shine. They are also easy to clean and wash.

Making a list of tools

Before you weave a wicker basket with your own hands, you need to prepare the following tools:

  • awl;
  • side cutters;
  • weight - it will hold the vine in a certain position;
  • pliers - use them to bend rods.

Equipment should be prepared in advance. This approach will speed up cart creation.

Work algorithm

How to weave baskets from wicker? First, you need to divide the work into several stages; they will help you quickly understand the algorithm of actions and master the technique:

1. Weaving the bottom begins with the fact that you need to take 8 twigs. Half of them have a hole. Each of them is 3 centimeters. The second half of the branches is threaded into these slots. As a result, a cross is formed.

Making a cross for the bottom

2. Next step– braiding of the base. You need to take two branches and circle them around four rods. So you should weave two circles. Upon completion of this action, they begin to braid each of the rods. Two more rows are created. The elements must be evenly distributed. The result of weaving is a circle.

3. Another rod is added. It is placed in the outer row and bent. It is worth noting that the previous base is cut off (due to lack of length). In the same way, all the rods are replaced and two rows are woven. The vine should bend around the rod from the inside and outside. This principle continues until the bottom is completed. There are 16 main rods. At the end of weaving you need to add another one. It is placed between the other branches in the last circle.

Making the base

4. Having weaved the base of the intended size, you need to start creating the walls. You should choose medium-sized rods. They are attached to the bottom of the basket - into the weaving itself. The bases of the walls are bent to right angle, and the tops are tied. The bent ends are inserted into the bottom of the basket and begin to braid them. You should take three twigs. With the thin side they are inserted into the holes next to the main rods - one per rack.

5. You should weave a “braid” and repeat the pattern of the base. It should be shaped like a diamond, and it will go around each vertical rod. In this technique, 2-3 rows are performed. Such actions allow you to create the basis of the form.

Making a frame for the walls

6. It’s time to start weaving a common “fabric”. In this case, the method of inserting the vine behind one stand and bringing it out in front of the other is used. When the desired height of the basket is reached, the vertical branches are cut and their ends are hidden in the weaving.

We weave the walls

The wicker basket is ready. All that remains is to make the handle. First, you should measure the length for the handle and choose a thick branch. It is bent and given the shape that will suit the basket. The ends of the rod are sharpened and inserted into the walls of the product. 6 thinner rods should be placed next to the handle. They bend around the main branch, which allows it to be firmly secured in the weaving. To prevent small branches from moving, they are secured with tape. The “tails” of the rods should be hidden in the walls of the basket.

Making a handle

To start using the basket to its full potential, you need to let it dry. This will take several days. This simple method is used by most beginning craftsmen. In the future, it is recommended to develop your weaving skills and create more complex designs. Not only baskets are in demand, but also furniture and decorative elements made from wicker.

Wrapping paper Brown You can buy it, it’s not expensive, but if you have problems with this, then the wallpaper of the same texture left after the renovation will do. Now there is painstaking work ahead, in which you can involve your family and friends. The result will please not only you.

Let's get started:

Step 1: Roll and Sew the Strips

Take large leaf paper, 76.2 cm wide and start folding the strips. Simply fold the edges inward, creasing the paper well. You should get about 10 folds. After this, you need to stitch these strips onto sewing machine at both sides. Leave 0.5 cm along the edges. To create the base of the basket, prepare 8 such strips.

Step 2: Weave the stripes

Weave the strips together so that they create a large mesh shape (see photo). Start weaving long strips to create the surface of the basket. While making the basket, glue the strips with glue in the places where the strips touch each other.

To make your work a little easier, fix the strips paper clips as shown in the photo. After this, the remaining ends must be tucked into the inside of the basket and secured with hot glue.

Step 3: Finish the job

Check all strips to ensure they are evenly woven.

Everything is very simple. A new useful and stylish piece of your interior is ready.

Laundry basket for the bathroom

Making a laundry basket for the bathroom is not difficult. There are no limits to human imagination. The fabric basket is suitable for use in the bath, for storing newspapers, and also for storing children's toys. It is also good for disguising unattractive flower pots and buckets.

If you're having trouble finding a laundry basket that matches your bathroom's height and volume, try making one yourself. This basket can be used not only for laundry, but also for storing clothes, toys, textiles, and any large or small things. Make washing a little more enjoyable!

For a basket with a height of 55 cm and a diameter of 31 cm.

You will need:

  • metal mesh - 110 cm;
  • gray linen or burlap (length) - 102 cm + 34 cm for the lid;
  • light linen (length) - 102 cm + 34 cm for the lid;
  • cardboard 32 x 32 cm;
  • sewing machine;
  • thread and needle;
  • wire cutters;
  • wire;
  • pliers;
  • scissors;
  • tailor's needles;
  • a simple pencil;
  • construction gloves to protect hands.

Time spent: 1 hour 20 minutes.

Step 1

Using wire cutters, prepare a piece of metal mesh the right size. The mesh will be the base of our laundry basket. To protect your hands from sharp elements, it is better to wear thick construction gloves at this stage. The mesh is stored in a roll and will take on the correct round shape.

Step 2

We connect the edges of the mesh. To do this, you need to form an overlap of 2-3 cells and twist them with wire. At this stage, pliers may come in handy.

Step 3

Let's start sewing the cover for the outer part of the basket. I used a piece of coarse gray-brown linen measuring 62 x 102 cm. We fold it lengthwise with the right sides inward and machine stitch it. You can process the edge of the seam and top part workpieces in a zigzag pattern so that the fabric does not fray.

From fabric of the same color, cut out a circle with a diameter of 32 cm.

We fold the edge of the circle and the fabric blank with the right sides facing each other and grind it on a machine.

The result is a cover that can be easily placed on the mesh. The top edge needs to be folded inside the basket.

Step 4

We cut out a piece of 65 x 102 cm from light flax. We repeat all the same steps as with gray flax. Place the finished cover in the laundry basket, inside out. Since the light-colored cover is taller, there is enough fabric left to wrap it around the outside of the basket. You can use cotton lace, pompoms or braid as edge decoration.

The fabric basket is ready.

Laundry basket made from newspaper tubes

Basket of newspaper tubes very interesting and stylish thing. It does not require additional financial costs.

Materials for work

  • newspapers;
  • PVA glue (pencil) and brush;
  • scissors;
  • ruler;
  • cardboard;
  • a box, according to its shape we will weave our basket;
  • the knitting needle is not very thick, or the wire is of small diameter;
  • paint of any color.

The process of creation

Now let’s step by step figure out where we should start working. We take a ruler and draw the prepared newspaper across the entire spread into four parts. Next, cut into strips; its width should be approximately 10-12 cm.

Then we start twisting the tubes. We take a knitting needle or wire and apply it diagonally to a strip of newspaper. We glue the corners of the newspaper at the beginning and end of the tube so that it does not unwind or become deformed. When you twist, twist it harder so that the workpieces are not very voluminous. After making a dozen tubes, you will master this skill.

Then we take cardboard and draw a 20/40 cm rectangle on it. This will be the bottom of our basket. We cut out the blank in duplicate.

Next, take 24 tubes and bend them 3-4 cm from the edge, slightly pressing the bent end. Next, we glue them using PVA with curved edges to a cardboard mold, seven pieces on the larger side of the workpiece and five on the smaller side. Press them well so that everything sticks tightly, or you can use a press. Then we glue a second piece of cardboard to hide and secure the frame tubes.

We have a foundation from which we will continue to act. We insert the box inside, according to its shape we will weave, and fix the tubes to the workpiece with clothespins.

We start weaving, take a tube, glue it to the bottom of the basket, and tighten it between the frame tubes, alternating inside and outside.

When you run out of weaving tubes, you take the next one and insert it inside the previous one, first smearing it with glue. Thus, continue weaving to the very top of the basket. When you reach the desired height, cut the tube you used to weave diagonally and thread it inside the nearest frame tube, carefully gluing PVA on the inside.

Then we braid each frame tube to complete the work, cut off the remaining ends and bend them inward and glue them with glue.

The wicker laundry basket is ready. All we have to do is give it a neat look. To do this, we take paint and a brush, painting the basket from all sides. To achieve a more saturated color, it is better to paint the product in two layers. To extend the life of the basket and give it shine, you can coat the work with varnish.

Here are a few not tricky ways make a basket for various small things with your own hands without much expense. Such a useful craft will delight you.

Today I will show you how to make a flower basket with your own hands. This step-by-step master class will not take you much time, but the basket will turn out to be special, you will not buy one in any store. In addition, the entire composition is completely handmade, which makes it unique and inimitable. If desired, the basket can be made in any color, but today I will show you my version - silver. It goes well with many others, and a bouquet of flowers in a variety of shades will look good in it.

DIY basket

We cut out two blanks from penoplex, the dimensions are 16 centimeters high, the lower edge is also 16 cm, the upper edge is 22 centimeters. The thickness of the penoplex is 5 centimeters.

On the bottom of the blanks, where the base is, we make a rectangular depression, approximately 10 and 2 cm in size.

By using glue gun we fasten the two halves.

Remove sharp edges and sand with sandpaper.

Pour plaster into the recess at the bottom - this is necessary for the stability of the basket.

Using hot glue, carefully glue the workpiece around the perimeter.

Don’t forget the bottom either; we cover it with the same paper.

To make a handle, we take a 9 mm drainage tube. You can buy it in construction stores, I took it from Leroy Merlin.

And wrap it with tape (width 5 mm). I used silver to match the basket.

From the bottom, we make brackets from rigid wire for fastening into penoplex.

We decorate the basket and attach handles.

Using such a cord we decorate the bottom edge, it will give stability.

We stick the flowers on the wire into the polystyrene foam so that the empty space is not visible from above.

Our flower basket is ready.

How to make a basket with your own hands if you only have newspapers, paper, or vine branches nearby? Very simple!

It is not the material that is important, but the technique, execution and, of course, accuracy and diligence.

With a basket made of wicker, you can safely go mushroom hunting, but a basket made of paper or newspaper will perfectly decorate your interior and serve for small things.

What can you make a basket from:

  • paper basket;
  • make a basket from newspapers;
  • wicker basket.

How to make a basket from newspapers

To make a basket from newspaper tubes, you will need:

  • newspapers;
  • a thin knitting needle or a straight stick;
  • glue for fastening newspaper baskets;
  • square cardboard box.

So let's begin. First, take a newspaper and cut it into equal strips with a thickness of 2-3 centimeters. We twist the resulting strips into tubes around the knitting needle, starting from the corner. To prevent the tubes from unwinding, you need to periodically lubricate them with glue in some places.

Then we take the box, place one tube around the perimeter of the bottom, fix it, and then glue 2 tubes per equal distance(for example 6 cm).

Next we begin weaving. We take two tubes, fix them together with the side tubes, which will serve as our bottom and walls, and then we push the used tubes through the next two side tubes, threading them under the bottom, then over the top.

When the row is completed, we take two more tubes and do the same thing, only we thread them directly opposite under the bottom of our base tubes and above them.

Do not forget that newspapers, including baskets, require permanent fixation: each row must be secured with glue so that the structure does not fall apart.

When we reach the required height, our main task will be to successfully mask the ends. The excess of one of each pair of vertical tubes must be cut off and tucked under the nearest tube, secured, as usual, with glue.

We intertwine the remaining tubes with each other to form a frame for the basket. The remaining tubes also need to be carefully hidden, smeared with glue.

To make the glue in the upper part dry faster and better, you can attach clothespins for half an hour to an hour. Next, prepare the bottom from cardboard, which is best cut out last.

After gluing the bottom and handles we get a finished basket.

How to make a paper basket

To make a paper basket, you need to have with you:

  • cardboard;
  • glue;
  • ruler;
  • pencil;
  • empty flower pot;
  • stapler;
  • wire for the frame of a paper basket;
  • any in the form of bows, ribbons (optional).

The first thing to start with is to draw the cardboard from the wrong side into strips of equal length and thickness and cut them out. Next, take the pot and two strips, fasten them at the intersection with a stapler.

Then we apply other strips at equal distances and fix them with glue. To ensure that our bottom is fixed, we thread a separate strip through one ribbon around the entire perimeter.

Tip: so that the structure does not fall apart, and the cardboard strips always keep their shape, secure them with tape during their formation.

When the row is completed, everything needs to be secured with glue, and at the end of the row, either cut the strip and hide its ends, or tie it into a bow. To diversify color scheme baskets, you can use paper of several colors.

After completing the work, you can make a handle from the remaining strip, or weave it from some strong material in the shape of a braid, for example.

How to make a willow basket

You can also make baskets with your own hands from twigs. Compared to baskets made from newspapers and paper, such products will last longer, they will be more durable and practical, that is, they will hold more weight, if this is relevant to you.

To find willow trees, just wander around rural areas, where there are often many of them. However, not all twigs are suitable for a wicker basket.

To determine if the material is suitable, you need to bend it 90 degrees. If the branch is not broken, it is suitable for weaving; if it is cracked, we have no use for such a branch.

Generally, willow with red, orange or purple bark is suitable for basket weaving due to its aesthetic properties and strength properties.

To prepare the rods for use, you need to soak them and dry them thoroughly. Sometimes this process takes several days, because you need to keep the rods in a damp cloth and then let them dry completely.

The fact that the vines are ready for use can be seen by their wrinkled bark. If you don’t wait for this and start weaving, then the finished basket will soon risk losing its shape.

Like moss in the interior, baskets made of willow twigs are always relevant. Trees and foliage always go together, so you can use moss directly in a wicker basket to decorate a room or garden.

The technique of weaving a basket from willow (vine) is reminiscent of the one we used when weaving paper crafts, but in the case of willow branches we have to use thinner branches to fix the position of large ones. This provides additional strength and helps maintain the shape of the finished product.

In this master class you will find step by step instructions, with which you can easily and quickly make a newspaper basket with your own hands. This is a very simple lesson, the basic material for which you probably have on hand. Any newspaper will suit us, even the most ordinary one made from the most ordinary thin paper.

Even a child can weave a basket from newspaper strips. The key here is attention to detail and a willingness to work a little to figure out how to fold the newspaper correctly. As a result, you can quite easily and quickly put together a basket, which can be useful for storing a variety of accessories.

We will need:

Newspaper or magazine;
braid;
satin ribbon;
PVA glue or stapler;
strong threads for sewing.
If you want to make a simple basket for small items or a container for storing newspapers and magazines, take a regular standard-sized newspaper. If you want to get a durable container for storing various home and personal accessories (for example, chargers, cosmetics or underwear), then for preparations it is better to take a glossy magazine. It looks prettier and the paper is more reliable.

Decide on the width of the stripes. The smaller they are, the more beautiful the basket looks. We make blanks from newspapers. It is important that they are all the same width - down to millimeters - otherwise it will not turn out very beautiful. We roll the strip into several layers. The more layers, the more reliable the craft will be. The last free edge can be coated with PVA glue or glue stick to fix it tightly. When the blanks are made, we make the first weave of four newspaper strips.

To fix the structure, we will take a stapler. Or we can simply coat the internal parts with PVA glue. Choose what is more convenient for you. If desired, the stapler bracket can be removed when we have already made the basket and fastened all the newspaper strips together.

We completely weave the bottom of the basket. We make it a size that is convenient for us, and then lift the free ends of the newspaper strips up.

After this we will need some braid. We will finish the newspaper basket the same way we finish the uneven edges of clothing - with piping. Simply bend the braid in half and iron it. Then we glue it to the top edge, having previously coated it with a thin layer of glue. And then we sew on the braid. It is best to do this on a typewriter, but you can also do it by hand. If the glue is strong enough, you can skip this step altogether.

All we have to do is decorate our basket. To do this, take a satin ribbon and tie a bow.

The newspaper basket is ready! You can use it right away, or you can paint it with spray paint and cover it with craft varnish to make the surface moisture resistant. This is how you get a budget option storage container that will last you for years.
