The results do not provide a clear picture in the Voronezh region either. The information provided to journalists by the regional department of education, science and youth policy is more than meager.

It can be assumed that this is connected with the scandal surrounding the profile-level mathematics exam. Graduates of 2017 wrote a petition the day after the completion of the Unified State Exam, June 3. They complained to President Vladimir Putin about the unimaginable complexity of the tasks and asked to reconsider the criteria for evaluating the work.

“We demand a revision of the criteria for transferring primary scores to the secondary Unified State Examination in mathematics (profile) due to the unimaginably high level of complexity of part “C” tasks and the inconsistency of most part “B” tasks with standard tasks.<…>Students should have the opportunity to enter a university on the basis of school education, which level of tasks in the mathematics exam was not provided,” - the document says.

By the way, the head of Rosobrnadzor Sergei Kravtsov denied this information, saying that “the difficulty level of the Unified State Examination in mathematics at the profile level has not changed,” and the exam results indicate that “this year’s participants coped with the tasks better.”

But let's speculate. It is known that last year four graduates from the Voronezh region passed 100 points in specialized mathematics, and this year only one did. Last year, 205 graduates earned over 80 points, but this year only 55. We have no other data for reflection. Nothing personal, just numbers.

So, maybe then the petition was not drawn up in vain, and Rosobrnadzor is keeping silent about the final results because they are simply shocked by them?..
