Sample customs declaration in Thailand. Application form for a visa to Thailand and a sample of how to fill it out

A Thailand migration card for a tourist is a passport to this country. In 2019, Russians do not need a visa to visit Thailand. However, local authorities keep records of the number of arrivals and departures of foreign citizens, and also strictly control the length of stay. This is the main function of migration cards. Foreigners arriving in the Thai kingdom are required to fill them out.

At Thai airports there are special counters where the document is issued. Samples of filling are also located there. The card is issued before passing through passport control. Nowadays, many flight attendants hand out forms even before the end of the flight, so that passengers do not waste time and do not create a queue upon arrival. In addition, flight attendants are ready to give advice regarding filling out sections of the card.

How to fill it out correctly?

Sample of filling out the Thailand migration card

The migration card to Thailand has two sections:

  1. Information about entry (English arrival card). This is one sheet with sections on both sides. Here the visitor’s personal data is indicated: last name, date of birth and passport. Next: flight number and address of the hotel or other place of residence in Thailand. On the back, the tourist enters nationality, country and exact address, professional activity, approximate income level.
  2. Departure information (departure card). This sheet is filled out on one side only. The sections almost completely duplicate those that are present in the arrival card. The only difference is the flight: here you should indicate the flight number of the departure rather than the arrival.

The first page is taken from the tourist at passport control. The second one is attached to the passport and the necessary stamps are affixed. When leaving the country, the attached sheet is torn off and a departure stamp is placed.

The migration card to Thailand must be filled out in Thai or English in legible block letters. Where the answer requires a choice, check the boxes. Marks and corrections are prohibited. If you make a mistake, you need to take another form and fill it out again. This will save time, since passport control officers, seeing the blots, will force you to redo it.

The migration card must be kept throughout your stay in Thailand. Otherwise, there may be problems with checking into the hotel. On the way back, if the sheet pasted into the passport is not there, you will have to pay a fine.

A sample Thailand migration card is easy to find on the Internet. It is best to print it at home in advance, fill it out and take it with you. When the flight attendants hand out the official forms on the plane, all you have to do is copy the data from the draft into the final version.

There are known cases when tourists printed out in advance not a sample, but the card itself, filled it out and gave it to the border guards. Here you need to remember that the original form is made of special paper in certain colors. It’s not easy to “fit” them. If you come across a controller who is not too loyal, you will have to rewrite it in a hurry at the airport.

When going on a trip, take a ballpoint pen with you. Difficulties arise with them when flight attendants issue forms to all passengers at the same time.

This card is correctly called a “migration registration card”; filling it out when crossing the border is a common procedure in all countries. In this way, the state takes into account citizens of foreign countries who legally cross the border. A similar card is also filled out when foreigners cross the Russian border. It consists of two parts - an arrival card and a departure card. In this article you will learn what a migration card of Thailand is and its 2019 sample with recommendations for each item.

The arrival card contains the last name, first name, patronymic, year of birth and identification document. The purpose of arriving in the country and the reasons for crossing the border are indicated. At border checkpoints different countries Migration cards are different, the information to fill out, except for the basic ones, is also often different. Thailand, as a country with one of the most favorable conditions for tourism, has developed one of the most complete information forms.

The most common way of arriving in Thailand for Russian citizens is by plane. About an hour before landing at the airport in Bangkok or Phuket, flight attendants hand out migration cards to fill out.

At land border points they are exactly the same, and while waiting for registration you can fill it out at a special counter. There are also counters at airports; under the glass of the counter there is usually a sample of filling out the Thailand migration card. But it’s more convenient to fill out the card without rushing in an airliner seat.

Filling rules

Let's consider all the points in order. In 2019, the card has not changed compared to previous years. General rules filling - the map is filled out in English in block letters, with a ballpoint pen, and a cross is placed in the checkboxes, as shown on the map itself.
Upon arrival, you must fill out the “ARRIVAL CARD” arrival form.

  1. On the front side fill in – Family name (Last name), First name and middle name (first and middle name), Nationality (nationality), in the boxes Male – Female put a gender mark. Man - Woman.
  2. Next comes information about the identity card, the document required to cross the border - Passport No. Indicate the serial number. On the same level as the passport is the Date of Birth. Attention! This is the date of birth, not the date of issue of the passport and not its validity period.
  3. The following is the basis for entry into Thailand. Enter the number of the valid Visa No. from your passport. If you are arriving for up to 30 days and are eligible for visa-free entry, this field is left blank.
    1. Address in Thailand – indicate the place of your stay, most often indicate the city and the name of the hotel, they will not ask you for more.
      1. If you have your own home or decide to stay with a friend or relative, you must write the exact address. It usually includes the city, street name, house number, Moo block and five-digit postal code, but the province and district may be omitted. Example - Soi Suksombun, 55 moo 8, Banglamung, 20150.
  4. On the right side of the card, between the barcode and the field for official notes, there is a line where you need to indicate the flight number on which you arrived. Flight or Other Vehicle No.
Underneath all this is the Signature signature. Next to the signature is the inscription - If you are not a resident of Thailand, please fill out the reverse side.

Let's move on to back side. It asks to indicate the type of occupation, annual income, for what purpose the non-resident arrived in Thailand, whether this is his first time arriving (First trip on Thailand, yes – no). The note about a group tourist visit follows immediately after the question about the status of the flight (Traveling on group tour, yes – no).

At the very top you need to check which flight you arrived in the country on - charter or regular Charter - Schedule. The fact is that there is a rule that if you arrived on a regular flight, then you must leave Thailand on a regular flight, not a charter one.

It is not mandatory, it was adopted to protect the commercial interests of airlines, but please consider it carefully. If you are going to leave Thailand on a charter flight, then indicate your arrival as a charter flight.

  1. Accommodation (accommodation) - a note about where the foreigner is going to live, in a hotel, in a guest house, in rented or own apartments or a friend’s house.
  2. Purpose of visit – mark your choice of vacation or vacation (Holiday), education (Education), business, conference, etc. You should pay close attention to the transit mark.
  3. Yearly income. Thai authorities are wary of people without certain occupations and permanent income. You don’t have to disclose all your income, but it’s better to check the box where your income is indicated and ignore no income!
    1. If a foreigner is a tourist in a group on a charter flight, there will be no questions asked about this.
    2. If a foreigner travels independently, his income is of interest to the migration authorities. The line Occupation (profession) is also directly related to this; usually they indicate “manager”, but if you wish, you can enter a real profession. There is a line in the upper right corner. Below is more important information.
  4. Country of residence – indicates the place of residence according to the general passport (conditionally – registration), city and country. From port of embarkation – indicates which city the foreigner arrived from, and next city/port of disembarkation – which next city he intends to visit. For example: if you arrive at Bangkok airport, you can indicate the next city as Pattaya or Koh Chang, but this is important in the case of transit through Thailand and is unimportant in other cases. 2019 was the year in which cases of transit through hospitable Thailand became commonplace.

Arrival stamp

When all lines are filled in, a foreign tourist with a passport and visa goes to the passport border control counter, where he is given an arrival stamp. Usually, there are no mistakes, but border guards are people too, so it’s better to check the deadlines included in the stamp. Either it is 30 days or the period specified on the visa.

Filling out the departure form

The migration card consists of two parts. The “DEPARTURE CARD” part (departure form) has the same bar code and number. It can be filled out later, but must be kept with your passport. The departure card is as important in checking the legality of your stay in the Kingdom of Siam as the stamp in your passport. It is also stamped with the date.

It’s not difficult to fill out all the lines, similar to the arrival form. Only last name, first name, patronymic, date of birth, citizenship and passport number are entered there. When leaving the kingdom, the card is handed over at border control, and a departure stamp is placed in the passport. Usually, this procedure does not raise any questions from border guards.

Some nuances when filling out migration cards and using them

The conditions for visa-free stay in the Kingdom of Thailand state that the tourist must have a return ticket to his homeland or to a third country. The same requirements apply to tourist visas. That is why, on the departure card there is a line Flight or Other Vehicle No, it must be filled out upon arrival, this will free you from unnecessary questions. Dates are indicated in European format, from the birth of Christ, but in banks and police the date is indicated from the day of Buddha’s death.

Some countries do not have departure cards. Here it is stored in the passport and can be useful in circumstances completely unexpected for a tourist. For example, when trying to open an account in a Thai bank, when purchasing and registering a car or motorbike, when passing an exam for the right to drive a vehicle.

Attentiveness to filling out documents and respect for officials at border control is a guarantee of a wonderful holiday in the land of smiles.

Why do you need a migration card and why should you not lose it?

Migration documents are necessary for customs officers - your registration on the territory of the state. Before passing through customs control, the migration card must be completely filled out. It is necessary to write only truthful, reliable information.

Provided that all points on the migration card are filled out correctly, the customs officer will put a mark there. By the way, the same stamp will appear on the passport page.

It is important to keep your migration card until you cross the border back. During departure, a customs officer will check the document, check the length of stay, and make sure that your stay in the country is “clean”. If everything is in order, he will put a departure stamp in your foreign passport.

If anyone is not aware, the migration card that needs to be filled out before the Thai border has recently been changed. These cards are distributed to everyone on the plane when you fly from Russia. Some Asian airlines do not issue. But, of course, there are forms before passport control, but it will take extra time, so I fill it out on the plane, if possible.

I am posting a sample form. And I remember the first time, when I flew to Tai, I asked my neighbors what they meant. It seems clear, but you doubt it.

How I filled out the card

And now, just in case, an example of my filling. Let there be one more sample.

Some clarifications

  • It is necessary to fill both sides and both parts. The border guard will keep one of them, the second will be included in your passport, and it is better not to lose it, otherwise you will have to go to the immigration office later.
  • The cards are not exactly a formality, but they are not particularly checked. This is not to say that you should write incorrect information there, but to the fact that you don’t need to be a perfectionist. For example, you need to indicate your annual income on the card. I think it’s obvious to everyone that you can tick any box and it won’t affect anything.
  • The address in Thailand is the same - just indicate the city and the name of your hotel.
  • You do not need to fill in the visa number if you are entering with a 30-day stamp.
  • It must be filled out in blue or black ink. And take a pen with you on the plane, the flight attendants don’t hand them out, you’ll have to ask your neighbors who has them. From experience, few people take it.
