Thai migration authorities, however, monitor and control the flow of tourists. Accounting for migrants is carried out through their registration upon entry and exit. Each visitor to the country, crossing the border of the kingdom, fills out migration card. The problem is small, but not for everyone. The fact is that the document is printed in English. In fact, there is nothing difficult, especially for tourists who have at least some understanding of the language. Main parts of Thailand migration map

The Thailand migration card consists of 2 parts:

  • ArrivalCard, which translates as arrival card;
  • DepatureCard – departure card.

  • Nationality – state of citizenship;

  • Visa № – visa number;
  • Address in Thailand – residential address in the Kingdom of Thailand, just indicate the name of the hotel or city;

How is a migration card used?

Both parts of the completed card are submitted during passport control at the airport of arrival along with your foreign passport. One part - the arrival card - remains with the border guards, and the data based on it is entered into the database.

The second part of the card – the departure card – will be inserted into the passport by the border guard or handed over to the tourist. It will be needed for unimpeded exit from the country. It will determine whether your visa-free stay in the country has expired, as well as other important information.

When leaving, migrants present their departure card along with their passport. You should be very careful and careful with this document. His loss could result in serious trouble. Filling rules

  3. The following is the basis for entry into Thailand. Enter the number of the valid Visa No. from your passport. If you are arriving for up to 30 days and are eligible for visa-free entry, this field is left blank.
    1. Address in Thailand – indicate the place of your stay, most often indicate the city and the name of the hotel, they will not ask you for more.
      1. If you have your own home or decide to stay with a friend or relative, you must write the exact address. It usually includes the city, street name, house number, Moo block and five-digit postal code, but the province and district may be omitted. Example - Soi Suksombun, 55 moo 8, Banglamung, 20150.
  4. On the right side of the card, between the barcode and the field for official notes, there is a line where you need to indicate the flight number on which you arrived. Flight or Other Vehicle No.
    Underneath all this is the Signature signature. Next to the signature is the inscription - If you are not a resident of Thailand, please fill out the reverse side.

Let's move on to back side. It asks to indicate the type of occupation, annual income, for what purpose the non-resident arrived in Thailand, whether this is his first time arriving (First trip on Thailand, yes – no). It is not mandatory, it was adopted to protect the commercial interests of airlines, but please consider it carefully. If you are going to leave Thailand on a charter flight, then indicate your arrival as a charter flight.

  1. Accommodation (accommodation) - a note about where the foreigner is going to live, in a hotel, in a guest house, in rented or own apartments or a friend’s house.
  2. Purpose of visit – mark your choice of vacation or vacation (Holiday), education (Education), business, conference, etc. You should pay close attention to the transit mark.
  3. Yearly income. Thai authorities are wary of people without certain occupations and permanent income. You don’t have to disclose all your income, but it’s better to check the box where your income is indicated and ignore no income!

    2. If a foreigner travels independently, his income is of interest to the migration authorities. Arrival stamp

When all lines are filled in, a foreign tourist with a passport and visa goes to the passport border control counter, where he is given an arrival stamp. Usually, there are no mistakes, but border guards are people too, so it’s better to check the deadlines included in the stamp. Either it is 30 days or the period specified on the visa.

Filling out the departure form

The migration card consists of two parts. The “DEPARTURE CARD” part (departure form) has the same bar code and number. It can be filled out later, but must be kept with your passport. The departure card is as important in checking the legality of your stay in the Kingdom of Siam as the stamp in your passport. It is also stamped with the date.

It’s not difficult to fill out all the lines, similar to the arrival form. Only last name, first name, patronymic, date of birth, citizenship and passport number are entered there. When leaving the kingdom, the card is handed over at border control, and a departure stamp is placed in the passport. Usually, this procedure does not raise any questions from border guards.

Some nuances when filling out migration cards and using them

This paper is an actual replacement for a visa (for stays in the country of up to 30 days) and necessarily supplements the stamp affixed to the international passport. In 2018, just as before, migration cards will be distributed by flight attendants on the plane. When entering Thailand, you must fill out the new migration card form in block Latin letters. You should not go beyond the boundaries of the column intended to answer the question posed. If you need to select one from several options, you must put a “cross” in the required box, not a “tick”. Correcting errors and presenting a document with marks at passport control is unacceptable - the checking officer will simply send the person to rewrite the card again. What to do if you lose your migration card
