Skyrim) - one of the provinces of Tamriel, the second homeland of the Nords. Skyrim, also known as the Old Kingdom or the Fatherland, was the first region of Tamriel to be settled by people from the continent of Atmora. The Nords call Skyrim the Throat of the World, for it is there that the sky breathes out onto the earth and shapes it.

The climate of Skyrim is very cold, although nature comes to life during the short Skyrim summer. There is a stereotype in the Empire that you should stay away from Skyrim: not only because of the snow storms, but because of the Nords’ passion for alcoholic beverages, especially Nordic Mead, and fights for no particular reason. The Nords of Skyrim are considered barbarians, but they are only "free to kill what they want, and free to worship what they choose when they want."

Geography

Skyrim is located in the north of Tamriel. It borders High Rock and Hammerfell to the west, Cyrodiil to the south, and Morrowind to the east.

By northern border Skyrim has preserved many fortresses from the time of Reman, built to resist Akavir. The main pass connecting Skyrim with Cyrodiil is the so-called White Pass, in which the ancient Akaviri Fortress is located.

Skyrim has sea border with Atmora. The island of Solstheim can be called part of Skyrim, or part of Morrowind, there is no reliable data.

Story

Historians often describe the spread of people across Tamriel as a consequence of the military expansion of the Nords of Skyrim, although this is not entirely true. The Nedics of Skyrim could not get along with the local elves, and staged a military expansion into other provinces, ensuring an imbalance between people and the Aldmeri.

One of the most famous rulers of Skyrim was Potema, the Wolf Queen of the Skyrim kingdom of Solitude. Having played a huge role in the history of the Empire, she remains in the people's memory as the terrible necromancer queen who turned Solitude into a valley of the undead.

Tiber Septim also lived in Skyrim for some time.

It was from Skyrim that it was planned to conquer Morrowind before signing a peace treaty.

The current Queen Mother of Morrowind, Barenziah, grew up in Skyrim.

Religion

The Skyrim pantheon includes such gods as Alduin, Dibella, Orcs, Tsun, Mara (in Skyrim she is considered a servant of Kine), Stun, Kine, Yunal, Shor, Ismir, Hermaeus-Mora, Maloch. It is believed that Yunal (Junal) is the Julianos of the imperial pantheon. He is not found in modern Skyrim mythology, but was formerly worshiped as the Rune God, a deity of the Hermetic orders.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is a single-player role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. This is the fifth generation in fantasy RPG games series of The Elder Scrolls, which takes place 200 years after the events of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, during the fourth era. The game was announced on December 11, 2010 at the Spike Video Game Awards, and is scheduled for release on November 11, 2011. Skyrim will use a completely new engine called the Creation Engine, developed by Bethesda, to improve the game's graphics. Additionally, the engine will also feature Radiant AI, in conjunction with Radiant Story, to improve interactions with quests.

Plot

Two hundred years have passed since the events that took place in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and the 4th era began in the world of the game, and the year is 201. The King of Skyrim was killed, which caused a civil war in the region; one side wants to unite with the rest of the empire, while the others want to stay, believing they have something to fight for. This schism is the final event in the prophecy that was foretold in the ancient scrolls, and will lead to the return of the dragons, led by Alduin, the Nord god of destruction.

The game begins in a prison where the player awaits his execution as a result of crossing the border. But on the way to the gallows, something incredible happens. Esbern, one of the last Blades, appears at the execution and says that the player is Dovahkiin, or dragonborn, destined to defeat the dragons and Alduin.

Game world

The fifth part of The Elder Scrolls takes place in Skyrim, where the world is threatened not only civil war, but also the return of the legendary dragons, as well as the great dragon Alduin (his equivalent is Akatosh, only among the Nords).

This is the northernmost region of Tamriel, where you can find mountains, snowy tundras, pine forests, rural areas and ice-covered locations. Its architecture and atmosphere are very similar to the similar city of Bruma, which you could meet in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Although the region is similar in size to Oblivion's Cyrodiil (approximately 41 square kilometers), it is the least populated of all Tamriel's regions, resulting in denser forests and grassier terrain than Cyrodiil. Although there are only five cities in the province, they are larger than the cities of Cyrodiil, and are complemented by a large number of settlements scattered throughout the region, located at great distances from each other.

There are over 150 dungeons scattered throughout Skyrim, and when a player visits it for the first time, the level of monsters within that level will always be the same, even if the player has returned more than high level. Fast-travel will return to the game and will allow the player to go to any marked place that he has previously visited.

Of the new enemies that await us, it is worth noting mountain giants, frost trolls, mammoths, frost spiders, ice ghosts, draugr (a form of undead in the land of the Nords) and, most importantly, dragons. The game will feature both peaceful dragons and those who seek destruction. Children will also return to the game ( last time they could be found in a couple of quests in Daggerfall).

Gameplay

Skyrim, like previous parts of The Elder Scrolls, will retain the openness of the world. The player is free to roam the lands northern region in any way convenient for him - be it on foot or on horseback. Each city and settlement has its own economy, which the player can influence by working on a farm or mine - which will lead to an improvement in the economy, or by sabotaging production buildings. The player can develop eighteen different skills, leveling up gets closer with each skill point gained. Traditional class system role playing games, which was in Oblivion, has been removed - now the player develops more naturally. Perks appeared in the game - special abilities tied to certain skills and organized in the form of branching groups called the “skill tree”. The player can choose from 280 perks each time their character levels up. After level 50, it will no longer be possible to choose a character perk, although the player will be able to further increase his level.

The player can forge a weapon at the forge, and also take it into any hand - that is, now the player, for example, can walk with two swords in his hands. Shields can be used to strike and now take time to start blocking with a shield. Crushing, piercing and cutting weapons have their own advantages and purposes; An example would be how the player will finish off his enemies. The game has more than 85 types of spells that can be used both in close combat and at a distance. Some specific spells have special qualities in addition to their basic properties - a frost spell slows down and drains stamina, while fire spells cause ongoing fire damage and can also ignite environment. Players can assign one spell to each hand, which can then be used together to deal more damage. If the player wants to practice shooting, then he should expect that the arrows will now take a little longer to draw than in previous parts of the Elder Scrolls series, but they will also cause much more damage. In this regard, arrows have become more expensive and rare. A player equipped with a bow can use it as a melee defense while preparing for a counterattack. The player can sneak, and other characters will not notice him if he is hidden in the shadows or is behind them.

Skyrim uses the Radiant AI system created for Oblivion, which has been tweaked to allow other characters to "do what they want with what they need." The updated system introduces closer interaction into the game between NPCs and their environment; NPCs can perform tasks such as working on a farm, working in a mine, or simply talking to another NPC. In addition, non-player characters can interact with the player, communicating with him, offering training, or challenging him to a duel.

Skills

Mysticism is no longer a skill in the game, but its spells have been sorted among other schools of magic, while Acrobatics and Athletics have been removed entirely. Weapon skills have not been removed, but they are now grouped as "One-Handed" and "Two-Handed"; Now it doesn’t matter what weapon the player has in his hand - be it an ax or a sword - now everything depends on the number of hands used.

Skyrim will feature a total of 18 skills, six for each class (which were in Oblivion: Mage, Warrior and Thief). You can find them below:

Mage

Recovery
Destruction
Illusion
Change
Witchcraft
Enchantment

Warrior

Gunsmith
Heavy armor
Blocking
One-handed
Two-handed
Shooting

Thief

Alchemy
Light armor
Eloquence
Stealth
Safety
Pickpocketing

Leveling up, classes, customization

The level mechanics in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim remain the same; The level increases when skills increase, for example, alchemy, blocking, destruction, and so on. But now it no longer makes a difference which skills are increased - from this part in the game, main or secondary skills cease to exist. All skills have the same effect on leveling up.

Really new opportunity in The Elder Scrolls there are now perks that are given at each level and allow you to determine further specialization. Additionally, character creation differs from previous Elder Scrolls games, opening up new character creation options such as beards, faces, war paint, and scars, allowing for more fine-tuning appearance your character.

Also new to The Elder Scrolls series are the "Keeper Stones", large carved obelisks that can be found in the game, both in the story and just while traveling around the world. They are always arranged in a circle of three, each containing a symbol showing one of the three birth signs: warrior, magician or thief. By activating one of your choice, the stone will glow and release a blue beam into the skies, increasing attributes or skills that fit a certain category (warrior, mage or thief).

Races

In the game you can choose one of the ten main races of Tamriel - Imperials, Nords, Redguards, Bretons, Dark Elves, High Elves, Wood Elves, Okra, Khajiit and Argonians.

Playable races include:

Altmer
Argonian
Breton
Bosmer
Dunmer
Imperial
Khajiit
North
Redguard
Orsimer

Combat system

The combat system has undergone major changes, such as now allowing the use of two swords or spells at the same time. Therefore, you can create several combinations of weapons and spells, such as a dagger and fireball or two identical spells to increase their power.

The main new aspect of the combat system is the presence of "Dragon Shouts". Throughout the game, the player will find and use "shouts", which are shouted words in Draconic that contain great power. By killing dragons and absorbing their souls, the player becomes more powerful. It is likely that these souls will be important to the plot, which will make it possible in the future to find out the reason for the return of the dragons. The player will also be able to learn new shout variations while exploring the ruins at the legendary "Dragon Wall". Dragon screams usually consist of three keywords, spoken in the language of dragons. Bethesda also said that dragon battles will not be scripted, meaning the dragons will make their own decisions when they fight and the combat will take place in real time.

The game also features stealth kills and finishing moves, as shown in the official trailer. This indicates the potential for more stealth approaches to any combat situation, and also likely means that Bethesda is going to make some challenging and unique missions that will require the use of stealth attacks.

No weapons have been confirmed yet, but swords, shields and bows are definitely confirmed - they will correlate with similar ones from previous parts of the series (for example "Short steel sword", "Elven Bow", "Dwemer Claymore" and so on). In addition, do not forget that pulling the bowstring this time takes much longer than it did before, but also causes much more damage.

Armor

The armor has been simplified compared to Morrowind and Oblivion - cuirasses and greaves, which were previously separate, will now be one. But the player will still be able to optionally wear gloves, shoes and a helmet at will. According to Todd Howard, connecting the two main armor pieces will allow for more armor options to be inserted into the game, as well as increasing the number of characters that can be displayed at once. This is because connecting armor reduces the time required to load models, and also reduces the required processing power.

The main materials that were shown in the public fifteen-minute demo at E3 are steel and iron. However, the game is expected to have more unique armor sets.

Graphics

In Skyrim, the player will find a new engine developed within the company - the Creation Engine. This engine is specifically designed to display vast distances, handle more complex graphics, and more realistically simulate the movement of water and the rustling of leaves in the wind. Snow, rain, and improved weather effects have been confirmed, and snow is designed to interact with its environment. Snow will linger on the leaves of trees and fall to the ground unevenly, as in real world. In addition, it is known that the higher you climb into the mountains, the worse the weather will await you.

User Interface (HUD)

The new user interface is designed for streamlining and efficiency. The design team took inspiration from Apple's iTunes to create a simple menu where you can see everything that's important. On the screen, the UI shows the player's health, as well as the amount of remaining mana and stamina - but these only appear when their value changes.

When the menu opens, a compass with four directions appears in front of the player, prompting the player to press one of the directions - up, down, left, right. If you hold down the left key, you will see a menu with spells and magic items - there are more than 85 spells in the game, with detailed descriptions. If you hold down the key to the right, the inventory will open. Almost every item you can carry will appear in 3D in your inventory, allowing you to examine it from all angles. If you press down, the map will open - but instead of opening another menu, the camera soars into the sky, displaying a three-dimensional topographic map Skyrim region. On this map you can leave markers, plot routes, view quests, and more. If you press up, stars will appear in front of the player. There he will be able to learn his skills, perks and interact with the character’s characteristics in every possible way.

Additionally, time freezing and focusing on a single character during conversations have been changed. Now there is none of this, which allows the characters to continue their actions (for example, chopping wood or distributing drinks) while talking with the player. Combined with the sheer amount of things that NPCs can do in the game, it becomes a more realistic interaction in the game world.

Radiant AI

The Creation Engine also uses the Radiant AI system. This system (an old name, but a huge step forward since Oblivion) will allow characters in the game to interact more thoughtfully with the player, as well as perform other actions seen in previous games in the series. Programmers can now assign a huge number of activities to NPCs, compared to Oblivion, where the number was limited to eating, sleeping, drinking, harvesting and walking. This means that the characters will have their own personalities (or a variety of actions, at least), some of them will drink frequently, some will work tirelessly, and some will be charmingly lazy. According to the developers, they are thinking through many options for them.

Radiant Story

The game will introduce the Radiant Story system to the public for the first time, which regulates the work and interaction with quests. Radiant Story allows side quests to dynamically change based on the player's actions, as well as adapt them to the player's abilities and progression in the game. For example, it could send a player into a dungeon they've never been to before and place enemies there that the player would be interested in fighting with their class. In addition, this system will randomly generate unique events, which previously happened in another Bethesda project - Fallout 3. Possible events may include a challenge to a duel.

Official trailer

A step back for the TES series, unfortunately over-praised.
A very flat, shallow game that has nothing to offer the player after level 20. You will quickly learn the blocks from which all the landscapes are assembled and begin to get bored. Dragons will begin to seem like annoying midges, and the most terrible enemy will be the bandits who grow in level with you. Without a journal and branching, all quests will merge into one big “go, kill, bring.” You will become the head of everything and everyone without visible consequences for yourself or for the world.
Skyrim delights, but not for long.

An ambiguous game.
The vanilla version, even with DLC installed, is problematic to play.
Final off. The patch does not fix all bugs.
Low resolution textures are not pleasing to the eyes.
The physics is terrible - a character can be killed by a book flying out from under his feet.
And he is stupid, any peasant considers it his duty to rush at the dragon.
The balance is so-so. And in general, it is not clear why the Dovahkiin is needed when a dragon can be shot by a couple of bandits with bows.
There is now almost no need to develop your character, and there is almost no difference between races. If you don't switch to third-person view, you might forget who you're playing as.
Radiant quests are not needed.
The slop auto-leveling has been rebuilt.
Music. Except main topic and music There's nothing memorable about Morrowind.
Question. Why are there an order of magnitude more bandits and savages in the game than civilians?
Continuous caves and dungeons, all of the same type.
There are also many advantages.
Overall, a big and beautiful world.
Epic storyline.
The ability to forge weapons and armor yourself.
A couple of decent DLCs.

With graphic mods, a fan patch, changed gameplay, balance and character leveling, the game is a dream. Through the efforts of the fans, roughly speaking, the game is working.
And in the form in which the gazebo released it - only 6.5 points out of 10.

I assure you that this is not a superficial opinion: I have played about 500 hours. TES V has nice graphics and, compared to other parts, a terribly meager plot. The same Oblivion surprised and still surprises with its intricacies of the plot. The problem with this game is that it was created and released to the masses, which leads to a beautiful wrapper and not very good content. Almost all the books found were copied from previous parts. Throughout gameplay I can’t help feeling that the writers cheated, they wrote the script without a soul and without the proper enthusiasm or inspiration. Thieves Guild, Assassins Guild, Chief story quest, civil war, the fighters guild was replaced by forced transformation into werewolf mercenaries. All quests have their own history, but perfectly polished, stamped and unremarkable. Believe me, the previous parts are better. And also, doesn’t anyone think that the graphics are too gray in some places and can only be fixed with the help of mods?

Completed the entire game 100% on Steam (with additions).
For the entire game, I can only praise the music and books. Everything else is done simply horribly.
1. Any quest is a banal “bring-give-kill”. Making them is not interesting at all.
2. The combat system is made generally for crayfish, with poking 2 buttons. Sometimes even alone.
3.Lack of animation and behavior. The battle with the crab differs from the dragon only in that the latter can fry with fire and fly.
4. The game is kind of like RPG genre, and the one where there should be an abundance of choice. But even here the creators messed up. The entire gameplay is no different from any MMO.
5. Besides everything, there are a lot of bugs in the game. Moreover, the creators are well aware of them, but even in the latest re-release they were never fixed.
Some say that Oblivin was better, but in my opinion it was absolutely the same garbage (the graphics were perhaps better for its time and there were fewer bugs).
From all this we can conclude that the game is greatly overrated. The same story happens with the game The Legend of Zelda, which is constantly given 9-10 points, when in fact the game is no higher than 8. The same goes for Skyrim.

The first delight of the game quickly gives way to boredom. A huge, incredibly beautiful, harsh and... absolutely empty world.
Scenery cities, the absence of living characters whose fate you want to worry about, distances along which you wander for long minutes, but do not come across anything worthy of attention.
This game is about loneliness and boredom when you grab new level- and you’re not happy, because you understand that after level 20, not a single mob will provide you with any worthy resistance.

The player can certainly find ways to entertain themselves in Skyrim 1001, but the game itself makes no effort to do so.
