Buy MDF kitchen set. Which MDF kitchens are better?

First of all, people focus on 3 indicators: price, quality, convenience. Ideally, such criteria satisfy the buyer 100%.

The kitchen market offers its customers a variety of unusual projects, colors, various styles (Provence, country, hi-tech, classic and more).

With the development of the furniture industry and the creation of new materials for facades, it has become possible to create almost any kitchen design. However, for 50 years, the greatest demand has been for sets with facades made of plastic, MDF and solid wood.

MDF facades are available with different coatings: painted enamel, PVC film, plastic and veneer.

Pros and cons of MDF kitchen units

The MDF material is created from wooden sawdust, which are joined together by secreted natural resins. The result is a dense and hard slab.

When creating sets, MDF material is mainly used only for the design of facades. The shelves and frame are made of laminated chipboard, much less often - of MDF or plywood.

Due to their flexibility in processing, MDF facades come with concave, wavy and convex sides or milled.

Sets made of painted MDF

The facades of such kitchens are distinguished by bright and rich colors. Shades can be combined with each other, complement each other, create visual relief and the effect of a chameleon, metallic, pearl or mother-of-pearl.

The surface can be matte, glossy, interspersed and various effects. For design processing of facades, automotive paints are used, which are applied in several stages. Or special Italian paints for MDF are used.

Sets with MDF facades- environmentally friendly, as they are created only from natural raw materials. The kitchen retains its original appearance for at least 30 years.

The enamel coating protects the kitchen from moisture, mechanical and chemical influences, temperature fluctuations, does not absorb unpleasant odors.

Such headsets do not require special care; however, manufacturers do not recommend using aggressive detergents to clean the surface.

At the same time, fingerprints and water stains are clearly visible on the painted glossy surface. In addition, accidental impacts on the enamel will lead to chips, scratches and cracks of the facades. Unfortunately, such kitchens cannot be repaired or restored. You just have to re-cover the facades.

The price of such headsets is above average market value. And, despite the obvious disadvantages, they are in high demand among buyers.

MDF sets with film coating

MDF film is a common and affordable material. The cladding is done using PVC film. The MDF board is laminated under a vacuum press.

Pros:

  • Available in a wide range of colors;
  • the surface can be matte, glossy, pearl, imitate wood or patina effect, with sparkles and inclusions;
  • headsets can be made in any style: modern, classic, country and more;
  • easy to clean;
  • You can use strong chemical detergents, hard sponges and brushes;
  • resistant to shocks and other mechanical damage;
  • the color of the set remains unchanged for at least 30 years;
  • not afraid of changes in temperature and water.
The appearance of such headsets is the main plus. Especially when the design is made with wood imitation. With a high-quality kitchen, it is visually impossible to tell the difference between natural wood and film.

Minuses:

  • Headsets with MDF film cannot be installed under straight sun rays, since the color will quickly lose saturation;
  • temperatures above 100 degrees can cause the film to peel off from the MDF.
Since the headsets are “afraid” of high temperatures, you should not install the facades near the hob or oven. Also, the constant ingress of hot steam (for example, when a kettle boils) will lead to damage to the facade surface of the kitchen.
MDF sets covered with plastic
Plastic cladding of MDF boards is a fairly fresh trend in the world of kitchen furniture. Sets with such facades have a high cost and combine the advantages of enameled and film MDF.

Pros:

  • long service life - about 50 years;
  • many color shades;
  • the ability to make edging from aluminum profiles and PVC material;
  • not “afraid” of direct sunlight;
  • headsets are resistant to moisture and high temperatures;
  • efficient and stylish appearance;
  • the ability to produce straight and curved facades;
  • high choice of surface decoration: metal, gloss, matte, natural stone, leather, various images, inclusions and more. One of the best applications of plastic on an MDF board is with bends on the opposite side. In this case, the material is reliably protected from moisture, fire and other influences.
Minuses:
  • The disadvantages of plastic-coated MDF sets are minimized - high soiling. Glossy facades leave fingerprints and stains.
Otherwise, such kitchens are considered the most successful of all MDF coatings that exist.
5 criteria when buying an MDF set
  1. Ends - vulnerable and weakness kitchens. Furniture will last a long time if the facades are made with ABS edges or aluminum profiles. Premium-segment sets must be finished in wood or veneer.
  2. A set with a straight shape will cost 15% less than with rounded modules.
  3. When choosing an MDF kitchen, ask the seller what class the MDF material belongs to: E1 - environmentally friendly, made from natural raw materials; E2 - has foreign impurities and releases formaldehyde.
  4. When purchasing a set, check with the furniture company to see if it is possible to adjust the set to the size of the room.
  5. Choose a manufacturer who creates custom kitchens without prepayment. So, you relieve yourself of all financial risks and pay for a ready-made headset.

The design and final price of the future MDF kitchen largely depends on the facades. Therefore, when choosing a new kitchen in the salon, the first thing you need to pay attention to is the doors and only then the frame, filling, fittings, etc.

Buying kitchens from MDF is perhaps the most popular option. And the point is not only that MDF board is more durable and strong compared to chipboard, but also that it allows for a greater number of decorative solutions. And for design this property is no less important.

Kitchen MDF enamel

If you want to buy an inexpensive and attractive-looking option, then pay attention to MDF kitchens that are covered with PVC film - MDF enamel kitchens

MDF enamel kitchens are popular due to their bright, fresh design and modern style. Their facade sometimes looks unexpected and original, as in the plan color range, and solutions: in one model there are combined colors and even the effect of a chameleon, mother-of-pearl and a gradient transition of colors, perhaps just a glossy finish or a matte sheen. Distinctive feature kitchens made of MDF is the possibility of modeling the most incredible shapes facade: rounded, convex and concave, wavy, conveying individuality in any style.

MDF kitchens are perhaps the most popular option. And the point is not only that MDF board is more durable and strong compared to chipboard, but also that it allows for a greater number of decorative solutions.

And for design this property is no less important.

MDF production technology

MDF is a board produced by pressing small fractions of wood chips. At first glance, the raw materials are no different from the mixture used in the production of chipboard. The pressing conditions matter here.

The production of MDF boards is carried out under high pressure and at high temperatures. And when heated, wood shavings release a natural binder - lignin. It is this that ensures a strong connection between the chips. The production of chipboards involves the addition of phenol-formaldehyde resins to the raw material. Over time, the latter release volatile compounds that are quite harmful to health.

In the photo, the shapes and colors of MDF facades are practically unlimited

The production of MDF eliminates this stage, and, therefore, furniture made from it is completely safe.

Types of MDF facades

The frame and doors of the kitchen cabinets are made of MDF boards. But the design can be completely different. The corner kitchen with milled doors “like wood” and high-tech furniture, where they shine with gloss, are MDF sets, although their appearance is completely different.

The photo shows artistic facades made of MDF.

The types of coverings determine the design of the kitchen.

Veneer

This is the most expensive option. The frame and facade are made of MDF boards covered with a thin cut of natural wood - veneer. Since veneer is obtained from valuable species, then total cost the kitchen still turns out to be quite high. In addition, this material - veneer on an MDF board - is supplied in very small quantities.

In some cases, veneer is the only way to make cabinet doors in the color you want. For example, wenge, a wood extremely popular due to its range and texture, is not used for kitchen furniture. Only veneer based on MDF boards or panels of less valuable wood. The photo shows kitchen furniture finished with veneer.

Don’t be intimidated by the word “veneer”: such sets can also look stylish and sophisticated.
  • The advantages of such products- real natural beauty wood, the ability to mill the doors and even decorate them with carvings. Repairing the product is quite possible, but not with your own hands.
  • Minuses- such material requires exactly the same care as if both the frame and the facades were made entirely of wood. Radial facades cannot be obtained using this technology.

Acrylic facades

Pros of the kitchen set:

  • absolute stability of color and design, as they are protected by a layer of acrylic glass, completely resistant to UV irradiation;
  • impeccable gloss, no other material gives such shine;
  • furniture, especially if the frame is made of MDF with acrylic panels, is insensitive to dampness, heat, hot splashes, etc.;
  • gloss provides not only shine, but also ease of cleaning;
  • very durable, as confirmed by reviews - 30-40 years.

Disadvantages of this solution:

  • the same gloss is also the reason for the frequency of cleaning: even fingerprints are visible on it;
  • can only be standard, even; neither milled nor radius cabinet doors can be obtained in this way;
  • the cost of products is inferior to veneer, but much higher than other solutions;
  • It is impossible to restore the panel yourself; you cannot paint it. Here the repair looks like replacing the sash.

Acrylic film on MDF

These concepts are often confused, although here production is carried out using a completely different method. Acrylic film is a multilayer paper composite impregnated with absorbents and acrylic resin, glued to the surface of the slab under pressure. The coating is very durable, and also has greater flexibility than acrylic glass. Not only standard, but radius facades are quite possible here. Which, of course, significantly increases the attractiveness of angular and straight models. The photo shows radius facades with acrylic film.

Product advantages:

  • colors - white, pink, black and others do not lose their brightness, since the acrylic film does not fade;
  • gloss is excellent on dark or bright colors, but white or peach can be matte, or even better, pearly. Acrylic film can also imitate wood, but in practice this is rarely the case;
  • The film is resistant to steam, water, hot splashes and other things and does not peel off over time.

Disadvantages of a kitchen set:

  • While radius facades can be made, milled ones cannot;
  • matte corner kitchens are more difficult to clean, and glossy ones will have to be washed more often;
  • Do-it-yourself repairs are not possible: you cannot re-glue acrylic film at home. But you can paint the set and apply varnish on top.

Laminated panels

The manufacturing method is similar to the previous one, but is inexpensive. Decorative paper impregnated with melamine resin is glued to the board. The glue polymerizes when heated and the film is firmly fixed. As a rule, it imitates wood, the color is white, blue, red, it is extremely rare, usually when exotic shades of wood are reproduced. In the photo there is a corner kitchen “under the wood”.

Advantages of a kitchen set made of laminated MDF:

  • quite affordable price;
  • lamination is possible on smooth and milled facades; radius ones cannot be obtained in this way;
  • good resistance to moisture and high temperature, although inferior to acrylic film.

Disadvantages of a kitchen made from laminated MDF:

  • repair is impossible, the film must be removed if damaged, but you can paint it yourself and varnish it;
  • short service life - usually no more than 10 years;
  • Do not use chemically aggressive agents or abrasives for cleaning: melamine film is not resistant to mechanical damage.

PVC coating on facades

The cheapest method of decorating MDF and chipboards. The essence comes down to gluing PVC film under pressure. The lower durability of the option is due to the properties of the film itself: it is much further from the characteristics of wood than paper, and the difference in properties ultimately leads to delamination of the composite.

The decorative properties of the film are not limited: any color - white, blue, “wood”, any pattern, any imitation - stone, leather, any surface - matte, varnish. The photo shows kitchen furniture in an unusual design.

Advantages of the material:

  • good resistance to abrasion and damage;
  • PVC film is applied to the kitchen facade of any configuration - radius, flat, milled; standard or the most complex shape;
  • shape and has very little effect on cost. Here, a corner radius kitchen will require a minimum of costs.

Disadvantages of this option:

  • the film peels off over time, especially in areas where there is high dampness - near the sink, or constant heating - stove;
  • the durability itself is short - 5-6 years;
  • PVC film fades under sunlight;
  • no repairs are carried out as such. You can paint it yourself, just like you can varnish it, but to do this, the film must be removed.

Painted MDF kitchens

To paint MDF boards, use enamel paint. The main advantage here is the richest decorative possibilities: color - white, black, metallic, any brightness, shine - pearl, matte, glossy, chameleon, color combination - standard, two-color, with a transition of shades, and so on. Such striking color effects cannot be achieved with any other coating.

The photo below is the result of a combination of paint and clear varnish.

Advantages of painted MDF;

  • You can paint any panels - milled, radius, smooth;
  • the coating can be washed from any type of dirt;
  • This is the only option where you can do the repairs yourself without any problems, so as a result of restoring the body and facade of the kitchen cabinet, they look pretty good.

The last property is so valuable that it exceeds all the disadvantages:

  • instability to mechanical damage;
  • less moisture resistance compared to acrylic coating;
  • high cost - only slightly inferior to veneered MDF.

How to update MDF facades

Panels with acrylic coating or film cannot be repaired. Even pasting with PVC film is carried out at temperatures and pressures that are inaccessible at home. Restoring the enamel surface will require great care, but you can do it yourself.

It is impossible to re-cover MDF boards with new film. Absolutely nothing can be done with an acrylic panel: repair is impossible. You can only order a new sash; there is no way to paint the latter.

But you can update the appearance of your kitchen set. Most often it is the external facades that are changed, not the frame. The frame is hardly noticeable, even in a straight or corner kitchen. If the frame is white, then there is no need to change: to change the interior, it is enough to choose new colored facades.

All film and enamel coatings can be painted.

  1. At the first stage, the sashes are removed from their hinges. Hinges and other fittings need to be removed, especially if the sash is going to be painted on both sides. The photo shows the moment of removing the loops.
  2. The enamel is cleaned with special staff to remove paint. Sanding, especially on milled sashes, will not give any results.
  3. The film is heated with a hairdryer. High temperature has a bad effect on the material and the film peels off successfully.
  4. The surface of the MDF board is primed. Typically, polyurethane primer is used, since it is better to choose paints for coating from the same group.
  5. After drying, you can apply a layer of paint. Usually two coats are required. Only varnish can be used. If enamel is used, a combination of two different shades can give a more original effect - a chameleon. And the combination of paint and clear varnish creates a pearlescent sheen for white and pastel shades. How to get a chameleon effect when painting can be seen in the following video.
  6. After drying paint and varnish must be applied.
  7. Assembling the furniture is easy: Hinges and handles are carefully attached to the sashes, and the hinges in the box are attached to the second part.

If it is necessary to paint the frame, the entire set will have to be disassembled and reassembled: not only the doors, but also the frames must be removed from the wall, dismantled, painted and varnished. And reassemble.

You can watch it in the next video.

Kitchens made from MDF are actually the most in demand. Plastic, acrylic, “wood-look”, film - all these definitions only indicate the finishing method, while the basis of the furniture is one - MDF board.

Modern MDF furniture has gained wide popularity in our lives. Its good reputation is ensured by its high performance characteristics, attractive appearance and affordable price. Today you will decide for yourself which MDF furniture to choose: with facades made of wood or plastic.

If we talk about the kitchen, then every housewife wants to see in her “office” all the conditions for creating culinary masterpieces. Of course, you can order kitchen furniture made from expensive and solid natural wood, or you can choose a comfortable and practical kitchen made from MDF with enamel, plastic or film coating.

Furniture made of MDF with enamel coating

MDF enamel kitchens are popular due to their bright, fresh design and modern style. Their façade sometimes looks unexpected and original, both in terms of colors and solutions: in one model there are combined colors and even the effect of a chameleon, mother-of-pearl and a gradient transition of colors, perhaps just a glossy finish or a matte sheen. All ideas can be realized using enamel painting technology: unlike other painting methods, the surface of an MDF kitchen with enamel is coated with automotive paint in a few steps. Like a car, MDF material is primed, followed by layers of paint. After complete drying, the surface is varnished and polished to a unique shine. A distinctive feature of MDF kitchens is the ability to model the most incredible facade shapes: rounded, convex and concave, wavy, conveying individuality in any style.

MDF facade covered with PVC film

A budget option for decorating a kitchen made of MDF is a board covered with PVC film. The technology for manufacturing MDF boards with PVC is simple: the board is laminated under a vacuum press on an adhesive base. The facade comes in a variety of textures and colors: matte and glossy, wood and stone, just plain. The range of colors allows you to choose kitchens with film to match the most sophisticated design of a classic or modern interior.

Kitchen MDF with plastic

An MDF kitchen covered with plastic is a new trend in interior fashion. Plastic is more expensive than MDF with enamel or PVC film, since it combines everything best characteristics enamels and films. Kitchen facades made of plastic are made by applying plastic to an MDF panel using high pressure and high temperatures, with an aluminum profile edging or PVC edge. Plastic glued to MDF is a very durable and reliable material with a long service life.

Detachment of plastic from the base is fundamentally impossible, since thanks to the facade manufacturing technology, the material practically “sticks” to the surface of the panel.

The plastic is resistant to fading, temperature and mechanical influences. The disadvantages of plastic are similar to MDF enamel, although to a lesser extent. Fingerprints on the glossy surface of the plastic are also preserved. The spots are especially noticeable under artificial lighting. A plastic facade can be decorated to resemble natural stone, wood, metal, and any design can be applied to it.

Kitchen material: plastic, film or MDF enamel

The abbreviation name MDF stands for finely dispersed fraction. The material is obtained by grinding wood. In its production, epoxy resins and phenol are not used; the fibers are glued together with lignin, which is released from wood when it is heated. Therefore, the main binding component is not of synthetic, but of natural origin. This allows MDF to be assessed as an environmentally friendly material.

MDF is very durable and resistant to moisture, fungi and microorganisms, which is especially important in the production of kitchen furniture. In terms of its characteristics, MDF is much better than chipboard.

MDF boards are used as a base to give them decorative look use enamel, film and plastic.

Kitchens made from MDF with enamel coating are easy to use and environmentally friendly: the enamel used for painting has certificates confirming its reliability. In addition, a kitchen made of painted MDF does not lose its original color and shape, since the coating material is much denser and less capricious than natural wood. Humidity and smell in the kitchen are the first enemies of any furniture, but MDF with enamel is absolutely resistant to their influence, since the durable varnish coating does not dry out and reliably protects the stove from an aggressive environment - elevated temperature, steam and water.

Compared to enamel, the film is more resistant to cleaning agents, so it can be easily washed with abrasive sponges without fear of damaging the surface.

The film is not afraid of shocks and other mechanical damage; you can safely put a kettle on such a tabletop from the stove, drop a pan, or accidentally hit it with a sharp object - the coating will not be damaged. In addition, the kitchen facade made of film with MDF is resistant to abrasion: over time, the coating does not lose its texture and color, unless it is constantly exposed to active sunlight.

The facade, where the coating material is film, also has its drawback - when heated with air or steam, the film can peel off. This often happens on cabinets under which there is an oven, electric kettle or hob. If you take this feature into account, you can use a kitchen with a film coating for quite a long time.

The kitchen facade, finished with MDF with plastic, never fades or deforms. The material is resistant to mechanical stress: you can cut vegetables on a plastic table without a board, leave hot pots - its appearance will not be affected. Another advantage will be the appearance of the MDF interior: its impeccable gloss attracts the eye and looks great in any kitchen.

Which kitchen is better to choose - MDF enamel, film or plastic

The manufacturer of MDF kitchens warns that caring for this furniture requires caution and does not allow the use of acids and abrasives. One unpleasant disadvantage is fingerprints that remain on the furniture upon contact. In the factory, the interior of the MDF kitchen is painted White color, which not everyone likes. The decisive factor not in favor of this furniture may be the enamel’s tendency to mechanical damage: dropped dishes or a knife carelessly thrown onto the tabletop can leave chips and scratches on the beautiful glossy surface. The high cost of an MDF kitchen with enamel is compensated by its beautiful appearance and the ability to choose a color for any kitchen design.

MDF with PVC film is a good imitation of wood and other materials for expensive furniture, and in terms of practicality and affordable price such a kitchen is in many ways better than an elite wooden one.

And yet, if your budget allows you to choose between three types of MDF coatings, you should choose plastic - this material combines all the advantages of other coatings. In terms of strength, it is compared with tempered glass or aluminum alloy, which are also used to decorate the facade. The only significant drawback is the price of such a kitchen. By the way, the question of which kitchen is better—plastic or MDF—sounds incorrect; it’s better to ask what kind of coating to choose for a kitchen façade made of MDF, so that the interior remains pristine for a long time.

Choosing a facade for the kitchen (video)

Kitchens made of plastic and MDF (photo gallery)

The most popular materials for making kitchen sets are chipboard and MDF. Both materials have their own advantages and disadvantages, but positive feedback there is much more about MDF facades. They better withstand exposure to moisture, temperature changes and other destructive factors. Disadvantages are most often mentioned by buyers who have saved on the quality of the material. Let's figure out what MDF kitchens are: the pros and cons, features of manufacturing and operation.

The abbreviation “MDF” stands for “fine fraction of wood”. This means that the material is made from small sawdust. They are glued under high pressure using lignin and paraffin, forming slabs of a given size. The compositions used to produce the material are safe. They don't highlight toxic substances during operation and when heated.

The differences between MDF and chipboard lie in the size of the wood fraction and adhesive compositions. Chipboard is made using formaldehyde resins. They are also used for the manufacture of cabinet furniture, but from the point of view of environmental safety they are inferior to MDF. When the top finishing layer is destroyed, particle boards can release harmful substances into the atmosphere.

Original kitchen design made of MDF

In the production of kitchen sets, a combination of both types of boards is most often used: the bodies are made of chipboard, and the facades are made of MDF. Chipboard is a looser and cheaper material, while MDF is ideal for making furniture with rounded, elegant lines. Most main drawback kitchens made of MDF - relatively high price, because... Manufacturers have to purchase imported materials.

Which panels are suitable for furniture production?

Depending on the production technology, there are three types of MDF panels:

  • Whole pressed. The slabs are distinguished by heat and sound insulation properties and tolerate moisture well. Density – medium.
  • Laminated. Panels of this type are harder than solid pressed ones. They are highly resistant to mechanical damage, moisture and chemicals.
  • Moisture resistant. This is a dense material that copes well with loads, tolerates moisture and hot condensate well.

For the manufacture of kitchen sets, laminated and moisture-resistant boards are most often used. Whole pressed ones are less suitable for rooms with high humidity and specific temperature conditions, characteristic of the kitchen.

Black and white aesthetic

Pros and cons of MDF kitchen sets

  • Price. Composite material is cheaper than solid wood. The combination with chipboard makes production even cheaper. Ready-made sets vary greatly in cost, so everyone can choose furniture that will not hit the family budget.

Positive colors in kitchen design

  • Presentable appearance. Untreated panels look unattractive, so they are treated. The slabs can be given any appearance, incl. decorate with natural wood, marble or granite. For this purpose, films, plastic, and enamel are used. The result is spectacular matte and glossy MDF panels for the kitchen.

  • Good performance characteristics. High-quality material is resistant to mechanical stress and can last for many years. Finished furniture is easy to clean: to remove dirt, simply wipe the surface with a damp sponge.

It happens that the slabs swell, become deformed, and the edge trim peels off. This usually happens if the manufacturer has skimped on the quality of adhesives or finishes. It is difficult to distinguish furniture made from such panels from high-quality ones. The difference becomes obvious only during operation.

The most common problems faced by buyers of kitchen sets made from low-quality materials:

  • The finish fades when exposed to direct sunlight.
  • The film peels off. Most often this happens with pieces of furniture located near the stove.
  • When cleaning, scratches remain on the material.

3 reasons to choose furniture made from MDF panels

  1. Design potential. The slabs are valued for their ease of processing. The material lends itself well to cutting with conventional tools and can be given any shape. The facades are decorated with patterns made on milling machine. Panels – valuable material for making furniture. They can last for many years without losing their original appearance.
  2. Performance characteristics. In many respects, MDF is not inferior to, or even superior to, natural wood. Furniture with facades made of MDF boards can be disassembled and reassembled without any damage to the strength of the joints. Additional advantages are fire safety, antiseptic properties, water resistance.
  3. Aesthetic finishing. For the external finishing of panels, film, plastic, enamels, veneer, and laminate are used. The facades acquire a chic appearance and are suitable for creating respectable interiors in any style.

Advantages of kitchens made of painted material

Kitchens made from painted MDF have their pros and cons. They are exceptionally beautiful. The color scheme can be any, with the most unexpected shades and combinations. In recent years, facades painted with gradient transitions, as well as with a chameleon effect, have become especially popular.

Automotive enamels are used to paint slabs. They are applied in several layers. This is a complex multi-stage process, but the finished surfaces look aesthetically pleasing, and the color is bright and durable. There are matte and glossy MDF panels for the kitchen. The front side of the slab can be smooth or have a pattern applied using milling. Enamels fit well on any type of surface. The color is uniform.

Corner kitchen made of painted MDF panels

Features of operation and care

The material does not absorb odors, is not afraid of high temperatures and direct sunlight. Kitchens made from painted MDF panels are very easy to maintain. They are wiped with sponges soaked in solutions of household chemicals. Care must be taken when choosing funds. Excessively aggressive substances and abrasives can damage the coating.

Glossy MDF panels for the kitchen have a significant drawback: fingerprints remain on them when touched. They have to be wiped constantly. This is not the most practical option. Another disadvantage: impacts may leave scratches and chips on the panel surfaces.

Types of painted facades

Kitchens with facades made of film MDF

Compared to painted film MDF, it is cheaper. This is due to the less complex manufacturing technology of the material. PVC film with a thickness of 0.3-0.5 mm is applied using a special vacuum press. The material can be of any color, with or without a pattern.

Facades that imitate the texture of natural wood are very popular. They are universal and suitable for almost any interior style - from classic to modern. It is possible to determine that the headset is made of composite material only at close range.

Note! Film MDF is not inferior to wood either in terms of performance characteristics or environmental safety.

How to care for facades with film

A kitchen made from film MDF is more practical than one made from painted MDF. It's easier to care for. The film is not afraid of brushes and tolerates well household chemicals, resistant to mechanical damage. Although the coating is durable, it is still better not to experiment with abrasives and aggressive chemicals. If damaged, it cannot be restored.

Finishing film has its drawbacks. It can peel off under the influence of high temperature or hot steam. Most often, the coating comes off from the slabs on the facades located next to the ovens. Wall cabinets installed near burners also suffer. If there is a kettle or a boiling pan on the stove, hot steam can cause deformation of the material.

Advice. Try to install kitchen furniture with film fronts at a distance from the stove and electric kettle. Even a short distance will be enough. In this case, the facades will last long years without changing its original appearance. A good hood can also save the situation.

Advantages and disadvantages of the material

Kitchens made of MDF with plastic - a new trend

The surface of the MDF board can be finished with polymer materials. Plastic combines everything best qualities films and enamels. It is durable, does not fade in direct sunlight, and can withstand short-term exposure to temperatures up to 160 degrees. Another advantage is the reasonable price.

Plastic sheets that are glued to MDF do not emit any harmful substances, have no odor, and do not cause allergic reactions. This is a hygienic, environmentally friendly material that does not change its properties throughout its entire service life.

The technology of applying plastic to the surface of MDF is such that the materials adhere firmly and form almost a single whole. Thanks to this, the furniture can withstand targeted impacts well and there are no chips or scratches left on it. The facades do not rot, fungi and mold do not multiply on them. The material does not deform from water even with constant direct contact.

As for the color range, it is extremely rich. There are about 400 different colors and shades of material. This allows you to achieve incredible combinations and create expressive interiors in any style.

The material reflects light, making glossy MDF panels for the kitchen look very impressive and do not fade. They are well suited for decorating small spaces, because... visually expand the space, add air and light.

Cons of glossy plastic panels

Spectacular shine cannot always be considered an advantage. In bright light it can irritate the eyes. If you choose a kitchen with glossy MDF panels, you should think about adjusting the level of illumination in the room, hanging curtains or blinds on the windows. Another drawback is stains on work surfaces. They will have to be wiped with a soft cloth after each cooking.

Glossy shine

MDF panels with plastic finishing are not suitable for creating furniture of elaborate shapes - with complex bends and protrusions. The design of such kitchens is not very diverse. But buyers who prefer clear, strict lines will be satisfied. It is also impossible to change the smooth texture of the material, to make it embossed.

Advice. Glossy surfaces require careful care. If they are constantly washed, the plastic may become thinner. To avoid this, use professional protective equipment. This treatment is carried out once every six months, this is enough to preserve appearance kitchens.

Design of corner kitchens from MDF panels

MDF panels are used for the manufacture of kitchens of any configuration - linear, island, etc. In many cases, buyers prefer corner models. They fit perfectly into small rooms, and the bright colors and glossy shine make the room appear larger.

The material is durable and easy to process, so when making corner kitchens from MDF, almost any design options are possible - smooth transitions, beveled and curved lines, intricate shapes. Corner sets in which the facades are made of panels look impressive different colors.

Designers recommend choosing kitchens in which the countertop is made of a single piece of MDF with plastic or film. Coatings tolerate moisture well, high temperature and easy to care for. If the tabletop is solid, then you do not have to clean the gaps between the headset modules. This helps prevent scratches and abrasion of materials.

When choosing a kitchen made from MDF, you have to take into account all the pros and cons of the material, and care features. Designers recommend paying special attention to the shades of facades. The lighter they are, the less noticeable the joints between the sections of the headset. Glossy surfaces have the same effect: they distract attention. But dark, saturated colors highlight the junction points of individual modules. All these nuances can be fundamentally important, so before purchasing it makes sense to consult with a professional designer.
