To make the cakes

On the pages of our culinary and holiday website you can find delicious Easter cakes with or without yeast. But, of course, you can’t try all these recipes for one holiday: you’ll have to choose a few just for yourself. However, there are also general recommendations how to cook Easter cakes so that they turn out just right.

For example, it is important to take premium flour and first sift it through a fine sieve two or three times. Do everything in good mood with the joy of the approaching holiday in my soul. It is also important to take other ingredients for the dough at exactly the same temperature. Raisins, other dried fruits, nuts, lemon or orange zest will add piquancy to the taste of the dough and the cake itself.

It is also important to choose the right form for baking Easter cakes. It is recommended to buy special disposable paper molds in the store: they are themed, fit perfectly and are cheap. Just remember that the yeast dough in such molds is only filled to one third of the volume. Then let the dough sit, it will rise twice, then put it in the oven, where the baked goods will rise again and will already occupy the entire mold, even creeping out a little.

Easter in relation to Good Friday

One of the strictest fasts of the year ends at the end of Holy Week (Holy Week), during which believers remember the events that led Jesus Christ to death: the culmination of the Savior’s physical life was spiritual and physical torment.

On Good Friday, laity read about the Last Supper, the taking of Christ into custody, the trial of the Divine Prisoner, the scourging and execution of the death sentence, which ended with the crucifixion. The last six days of Lent are called “Great” or “Passionate”. During Holy Week, special services are held, and the Orthodox adhere to a particularly strict fast.

Holy Week is spent for the laity in memories of the last days spent on earth by Jesus.

On Maundy Monday In churches they read the Gospel parable about the roadside fig tree cursed by the Lord. The symbolism and spiritual meaning of the image of the barren fig tree is revealed in detail:

  • the roadside fig tree personifies one who is perishing in unrepentance, whose soul does not bring faith, prayer and good deeds
  • the moment when the tree withered from the words of the Lord shows the Divine power of the Savior, the censure of people who outwardly pretend to be executors of God’s commandments, but from whom it is impossible to expect good fruits

IN Maundy Tuesday Believers devote themselves to reading the parables that the Son of God spoke in the Temple of Jerusalem: about the resurrection, about the trial of the Savior, about the ten virgins.

Good Friday believers spend time in memories of the passions that save Christians

Great Wednesday Believers devote themselves to reading the parable of the precious ointment poured on the head of the Savior by sinners. In this way they prepared him for his rest. On this day, the greed for money and the betrayal of Judas are condemned and cursed. It also talks about the destined fate of the two different people: Judas, who betrayed the Lord and thereby destroyed his soul, and the harlot Mary Magdalene, who repented and accepted salvation.

IN Maundy Thursday several events occurred: Jesus’ establishment of the sacrament of the Eucharist at the Last Supper, the Savior’s prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane.

Good Friday Believers devote them to memories of the saving passions and death of Jesus on the cross for churchgoers.

Holy Saturday the laity devote themselves to reading about the burial of the Savior and how his body remained in the tomb. Holy Fire, which is taken out on this day from the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem - a symbol of the Resurrection of the Lord.

Holy Week Believers devote themselves to preparations for Easter: cleaning is carried out, Easter cakes are baked, Easter eggs are painted.

A conspiracy against alcoholism, drunkenness and relief from extreme melancholy

  • Furnace ash is taken from the oven on Good Friday.
  • It falls at an intersection where there are no cars.

The plot is read three times:

Just as this ash will not sprout, and the sprouts will not produce petals, and the petals will not produce fruit, so the slave (name) will not take wine into his mouth: neither on Sunday, nor on Saturday, nor on Friday, nor on Thursday, nor on Wednesday, nor on Tuesday, and not on Monday. Amen. Just as this ash does not fill with a spring, does not sing like a nightingale, so the slave (name) will not drink green wine. Amen. Just as this ash will not farrow or whelp, so the slave (name) will say goodbye to wine forever. He will not drink: neither on Sunday, nor on Saturday, nor on Friday, nor on Thursday, nor on Wednesday, nor on Tuesday, nor on Monday, nor on weekdays, nor on Holy Days. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Amen. Amen.

  • Repeat the ritual two Fridays in a row.
  • Hide the remaining ash and use it at times when the temptation to drink is great.

Good Friday spell for stress and depression

  • To perform the ceremony you will need three easter eggs, which must be lowered into a container of water, over which the following magical text is read:

Strengthen my faithful words, Lord, Strengthen, Christ, the servant of God (name). Just as people rejoice at the bright Easter, so may the servant of God (name) be glad of life. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Amen. Amen.

  • A person suffering from depression should wash his face with this water.

  • On Good Friday you need to bake a small loaf of bread.
  • One half is eaten by those who perform the ritual, and the other is kept all year behind the icons. But before you put the bread behind the icons, you need to say:

“Lord, save, preserve, defend. Now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen".

God my Father,
I am very sorry for turning my back on your friendship.
You showed only love for me.
I sometimes show a little love in return.
Because of you, your only one, Jesus, who died and rose again for me, forgive me all my sins.
Father, not only have I offended you with my sins, but I have also offended your community here on earth.
I promise to show great love to a neighbor in order to make up for my sins.
I can't do anything unless your Holy Spirit helps me lead a life like Jesus, a life spent forgetting about myself in the service of others.

Let me not do anything wrong or idle in words, thoughtlessly say,
Set you a lock on my lips
Let me in the season, Lord, be honest, in the season of gays,
Let me be faithful to your grace just for today,
And if today my tide of life should fade,
Oh bet, if I die today, come home today,
So, for tomorrow and its needs, I don't pray,
But hold me, guide and love me, Lord, I pray you.

Conspiracy for the whole year from all enemies

"In the name of the Father and the Son
And the Holy Spirit.
King Herod fights, fights,
Blood is shed, no one
Doesn't regret it
Doesn't let anyone down.
Against evil man There is
Great Sagittarius -
God the Father!
At our Lord's
Jesus Christ
The sun is a bow, the month is an arrow:
There is something to shoot.
The Lord will not give to anyone
To offend me.
The Lord God is ahead of me,
Our Lady is behind
With them I am not afraid of anyone,
With Them I fear no one.
And you, my villainous enemies,
You have a knitting needle in your tongues,
Red-hot pliers in fangs
And in the vile eyes of the sand.
In the name of the Father and the Son
And the Holy Spirit.
Now and ever and unto ages of ages.
Amen".

A conspiracy to ask forgiveness from the deceased

Read on the evening of Good Friday.

“In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
There is no beginning without an end.
In the name of the Creator.
In the name of Jesus Christ.
I will stand up and cross myself.
I'll go out the door
Blessed,
I'll go to the holy church,
To the golden cross
To the Mother of God
And her son Jesus Christ.
I'll beg you with bows
And crosses
I will pay with tears of repentance.
In the dead kingdom
The dead state
Among the darkness
The darkness of dead people.
Kings, executioners,
Judges and sovereigns,
Dashing and kind people
There is one dead soul.
Before this soul
It's my fault.
For the sake of the Lord Jesus Christ.
For His crown of thorns
I ask and beg you to forgive me (name)
And my living soul
Let go of sin.
In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Now and forever
And forever and ever. Amen."

The last week before Easter is called Holy Week. She herself is strict and demanding of believers who fasted before the great church holiday and are now preparing to celebrate it according to all traditions and with special inspiration. Holy Week is a preparatory week. Each day has its own characteristics and rules and is dedicated to specific pre-holiday concerns.

On Holy Monday, believers begin cleaning the house - by Easter they try to tidy up the yard and every nook and cranny of their home in order to celebrate the holiday not only with purity in their souls, but also in absolutely complete idyll with the outside world. On Holy Tuesday they also clean, as well as do laundry and ironing. On Holy Wednesday, people begin to make their first purchases for the holiday - in particular, eggs are worth buying. According to legend, if bought on Wednesday, they will be especially tasty and will be colored as beautifully as ever, and will not spoil for a long time.

On Maundy Thursday, not only the house, but also the body is prepared for Easter - on this day you need to bathe in order to “place” the soul purified during fasting into a cleansed vessel. Swimming on this day before dawn brings you physical and mental healing, helps you cope with ailments and problems, and also recharges your health for the whole next year.

It is forbidden to do anything on Good Friday. This is a day of sorrow, because it was on this day that Jesus suffered torment on Christ in the name of all mankind. Saturday is a day of silence. Preparations for Easter are coming to an end - housewives are making the first preparations for festive table, because at night the whole family goes to the service to bless Easter cakes, eggs and other products before breaking the fast.

Sunday is Easter holiday. Lent ends and believers greet the news of the resurrection of Christ with rejoicing. You can eat anything, but you should start your meal with a blessed Easter cake and a painted egg - symbols of the triumph of life over death.

When to bake Easter cakes and paint eggs for Easter

Every year, many housewives ask themselves the question of which day of the week they should bake Easter cakes and prepare krashanki. The answers to this question are different - many believe that the main treats for the holiday should be prepared on Maundy Thursday. Others are sure - on the Saturday before Easter, so that the food is as fresh as possible.

The church advises that the main preparations and manipulations should be carried out on Thursday, more than in 2018 Holy Saturday, April 7, marks another major church holiday - the Annunciation - and it prohibits believers from engaging in physical labor.

Also, Thursday is more suitable for baking Easter cakes due to the fact that the process takes a lot of time - on Saturday they simply do not have time to cool down by the evening, and it is in the evening that believers go to church for the all-night vigil in honor of the Resurrection.

At the same time, many clergy say that the main thing in church holidays- spiritual component. If you attended church services on Saturday, said prayers and behave righteously, no one forbids you to work if necessary. On Annunciation, time is worth spending in a narrow family circle and in peace - if you prepare for the celebration of Easter without haste and with special inspiration on this day, there is nothing sinful in this.

Thus, we can summarize that you should bake Easter cakes and paint eggs for Easter either on Thursday or Saturday during Holy Week. The main thing, don’t forget, is that the last week before the holiday should be as spiritual as possible and fill you with light, the site writes. These days it is worth praying a lot, realizing the path already traveled and preparing for a new, better and righteous period of your life.

How to bake Easter cakes correctly

Baking Easter cakes, the main symbol of Easter, is a very sensitive and important ritual. Kulich symbolizes the flesh of Christ, the continuation of life, reunification with faith. The baking of Easter cakes is done with prayers and a special, bright mood, so that the process goes smoothly, the dough rises and subsequently the delicacy is especially tasty.

Easter cake dough does not tolerate haste or careless handling. It can fall due to drafts and sudden shocks. But you shouldn’t be afraid that once you mess up with the dough in your hands, you won’t be able to achieve the result. As a rule, the dough does not work well when someone constantly enters the room and slams doors.

The key to a fluffy dough is good flour. The Easter cakes are made with the highest grade flour, which has rested in moderation. Yeast dough made from freshly ground flour does not work well, and may fall off or crack during baking. The flour is sifted so that its particles disperse better in the dough. It is better to sift the flour twice. The remaining products are also prepared before adding to the dough.

What was stored in the refrigerator needs to be warmed up a little. The cottage cheese is crushed so that inhomogeneous lumps do not form in the dough, preventing it from rising. Raisins and other additives are pre-mixed with a small amount flour, then they will be distributed more evenly in the dough.

The baking dish should be made of thin metal. Tin molds, special ones and those made from coffee cans, as well as steel and aluminum are suitable. Special fireproof glass for baking is also acceptable, and enamel dishes for baking Easter cakes are used, probably, in nine cases out of ten.

To prevent the dough from sticking to the walls and burning, the mold must be lined with oiled paper. To do this, cut a round piece of paper for the bottom and a rectangular piece for the walls. Inside, the edges of the pieces of paper should overlap, and on the outside they should protrude slightly above the edges of the form. Then the cake will turn out tall and even.

Easter cakes of the same size are placed in the oven, large ones separately and small ones separately. This is due to the fact that it is undesirable to often look into the oven to check the readiness of the dough. When ready-made small cakes are taken out, the larger ones can be touched and damaged. But this does not apply to all types of tests. Early ripening yeast, for example, does not react to drafts and shakes in the same way as those prepared using complex technology with the addition large quantity eggs and sour cream. Moreover, the cakes will have to be moved around the oven and turned on different sides.

As a child, I really loved preparing for Easter. Together with my mother, before this good day, from morning until late at night, we prepared salads and painted eggs. Coloring book is mine favorite activity. A week before the holiday, I was the one tasked with choosing the color of paints and stickers. And what a delight I had from boiling eggs with dill or parsley, so that the pattern of the plant remained on the shell.

Masha, don't you dare iron your shirt! Today is Good Friday. Masha! Choose right away what you will wear for Easter, you can’t iron on this holiday, my mother told me almost every year. But time has passed. I grew up and decided, as an independent housewife, to figure out how to properly prepare for the Resurrection of Christ. And I plunged into the traditions of our ancestors.

Monday. The morning of this day for our great-grandmothers certainly did not begin with coffee. Many, many years ago, housewives began the first day of Holy Week with cleaning. Yes, you heard right - 6 days before Easter! Women washed windows, floors, and laundry. In our case, on this day you can wipe down all the mugs and spoons in the sideboards, and shake out the carpets in the living room that have not been removed for six months.

As for the men, on Monday they were busy preparing food for the animals, where necessary - they nailed down a shelf, painted benches that had peeled off over the year, and cleaned up leaves in the yard. Eh, it’s a pity, I don’t have a man, so I’ll have to nail the nail in the wall for the shelf myself. Well, God be with her.

On Tuesday Our ancestors also had plenty of work to do. Clean up after the animals, rummage through everything in wooden chests, pick out festive clothes for Sunday. What if there is a hole or stain on the skirt? Everything needs to be sewn up and washed.

Women of the 21st century can also go through their old blouses and dresses in the dressing room on this day. There, in some corner, there are old torn tights lying around that urgently need to be thrown in the trash. What to do with things that you haven’t worn for a long time, but it’s a shame to throw them away? Give them to the poor or to some volunteer organization. Still, it will be useful to someone, and it will count for you in the next world.

Wednesday. It’s too early to say “oh, that’s it.” Once upon a time, our great-great-grandfathers went out to the garden on this day to plant seedlings and fertilize the soil. In the apartment, of course, there is no hassle with this. But still, don’t be lazy - wipe the leaves of your favorite ficus, moisten its soil, so that already on the weekend the thought does not suddenly run through: “Oh, I forgot about my flowers.”

When you meet your spouse after work, take him with you to the supermarket; he shouldn’t sit in front of the TV screen. Buy all the necessary products for Easter - eggs, vegetables, yes, and don’t forget about the ingredients for Easter cakes.

It was in the evening, barely resting, that our ancestors began to knead the dough for Easter cakes and select eggs for Easter eggs.

Did you rest a little? Here it is already Maundy Thursday. On the fourth day of Holy Week, our ancestors got up before sunrise and went to the pond to swim. They say that in this way they washed away illnesses, bad thoughts and sins. But there was one condition: you need to get ahead of the crows, who bathe their young with the first rays of the sun.

Of course, now not everyone has the opportunity to get out to the nearest beach before work. Therefore, in this regard, you can limit yourself to a shower at home.

Since this Thursday is Clean Thursday, you can take out the festive dishes from the closet, change the curtains, bed sheets and towels. The women began to bake Easter cakes, driving the whole family out of the hut - there was no point in getting underfoot and driving away drafts. I remember that in our family, my mother locked herself in the kitchen and sat in silence for three to four hours so as not to “scare” the dough. According to tradition, it was forbidden to enter the kitchen again, talk loudly, or shuffle, otherwise the dough might not rise.

IN Good Friday You should limit yourself in work. There is a belief that on this day you cannot sing, have fun, dance, even visit, sew, embroider or do any work in the garden. You can only eat simple food - vegetables, cereals.

But the most believers observed strict fasting on this day. According to tradition, Orthodox Christians do not eat anything until they worship the Shroud, which is carried out in churches in the evening. Many people do not eat until the end of the Saturday Liturgy, that is, for more than a day.

Already in Saturday Before Easter, women painted eggs, collected a basket for blessing, and prepared for the night service in the temple.

Help "KP" in Ukraine"

The name "Easter" comes from the Jewish holiday Pesach (in Hebrew - passed, passed by), established in honor of the successful outcome of the Jews from Egyptian slavery. This happened approximately 1250 years before Jesus was born. Christianity, born at the heart of the Jewish religion, has preserved many traditions of the Old Testament, including the name of one of the main Christian holidays. But among Christians, the name of the holiday acquired a different interpretation: the transition from death to life, from earth to heaven.

If your thoughts are pure and your desire is sincere, then yes. Any step towards the Lord is welcomed by him. But before starting a shortened fast, you need to go to church - pray and repent.

2. Is it necessary to confess before Easter and when is the best time to do it?

Confession and communion are rites of soul cleansing. It would be correct to perform them on the morning of Maundy Thursday. But before that, you should attend services on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. If you can’t go to church, then read prayers from the Gospel at home.

3. Is it possible to bake Easter cakes on Good Friday?

In some regions of Ukraine there is such a tradition. But it requires a certain ritual: on Friday, Easter is baked in the evening. 4. Is it necessary to paint eggs before Easter?

If you don't want to, it's not a sin. But the legend of the resurrection of Christ is associated with the dyes. When Mary Magdalene came with this news to Tiberius, she had no other gift for the emperor except an egg. Tiberius said with a laugh: “If the egg turns red, then I will believe that Christ has risen.” The egg instantly turned red, and the amazed emperor exclaimed: “Truly He is Risen!” This is how the tradition of giving each other colored eggs for Easter arose.
