Why are documents not printed? Why does the printer not print documents in MS Word?

Today we will try to answer the following question: why the printer does not print and what to do about the situation that has arisen. There can be a lot of reasons for this, related either to technical problems with the device, which can be easily fixed manually, or to the Windows software. I'll look at a few possible options problems and will analyze in detail ways to solve each of them.

Looking ahead, I want to say that if your printer does not print: Epson, HP, Canon, Samsung or any other printer model and you think that the problem is in your printer model, then most likely this is a mistaken opinion. Of course, there are some printer models that require an individual approach, but there are very few such printers. Therefore, this instruction will most likely help you find the problematic part in today's situation.

Also at this stage you need to check the sheets in the printer. Try taking some of them out if you've put in too much. You need to try to push them a little deeper into the printer's receiving hole. If this does not help, then move the sheets either all the way to the right or to the left. The tray still doesn't want to accept A4? Turn off the device, restart your computer, then connect everything again. Still no results? So the situation is actually serious. Let's find out!

Checking Windows Settings

First, let's check whether this device is disabled on the computer itself. Go to “Start” - “Devices and Printers”. In the window that appears, look for your printer model and pay attention to the printer icon; if it is discolored, so to speak, then you need to check the contacts. Because this indicates that drivers are installed on the computer, but the computer does not see this device.

You must also make sure that the printer on which you are going to print the document is the default device. This is done as follows: go to the same “Devices and Printers” in the “Start” menu, there should be a green check mark on the icon at the bottom left. If there is no checkmark, then right-click on the desired printer and select “Set as default”.

If none of the above has any effect on solving the problem of why the printer does not print from a computer or laptop, then let’s try to restart the print manager. Before starting the procedure, disconnect all connecting wires from the printer. Now go to “Start” - “Control Panel” - “System and Security” - “Administrative Tools”. Double click on “Services”. Find “Print Manager” in the list and go to properties using the right mouse button.

On the “General” tab, opposite the “Startup type” item should be set to “Automatic”. If it's wrong, correct it. Also in the “Status” the “Stop” button should be active; if this is not the case, then click on the “Run” button and save the changes by clicking on “OK”. Now again right-click on the name of the “Print Spooler” service and find the inscription “Run”. Click it. Is there no such inscription? It means everything is in order and you did everything right.

Have you installed printer drivers?

So, your printer still doesn’t print, you don’t know what to do? If you still do not have printer drivers installed, urgently install them from the disk supplied in the kit. You saw above that in my case everything is fine with the drivers, but if you don’t see the printer at all, then most likely the problem is in the drivers.

Sometimes there are problems even with installed drivers! If you have installed the drivers, but the printer still does not print, then you need to remove the driver from the printer and reinstall it. This problem occurs very often, so it should not be ignored.

Print queue

As an option, I can also suggest clearing the print queue. To do this, go to the already familiar “Devices and Printers” located in “Start”. Then right-click on our printer and select “View Print Queue”. We delete absolutely everything that is in the window that appears; if it is empty, just close it, this is clearly not the problem.

If the queue is not deleted, then you need to restart the computer. After that, go to this window again and try to delete the queue. It is possible that these manipulations will lead to nothing. Then disconnect all wires from the computer that relate to the printer and try cleaning.

Doesn't print in a certain program or the problem is in the ports

For example, you want to print a MS Word document and everything freezes (this is a problem), then you need to open another program and try to print any document from it. To do this, open, type a few letters in this program and print.

If the printer prints, then the problem is in the program. You will need to remove it and reinstall it. If there was no printing, then most likely the problem is in the printer.

Another pitfall that we should tell you about is the incorrect use of the port. To check this, let's go to Devices and Printers again. Right-click on the device we are interested in and select “Properties”. On the “Ports” tab, carefully look at the set value. It should be of the USB type; if the wrong port is used, select the appropriate one from the list. Save your changes and close all windows. Now disconnect the printer from the computer for a couple of seconds and connect it again. Everything should work.

For inexperienced users, I remind you: when printing a document, in any program, pay attention to which printer you are sending this document to. Sometimes, users choose the wrong printer that they need.

That's all I wanted to tell you. I sincerely hope that one of the methods I described helped you solve your printer printing problem.

If the Spoolsv.exe application error appears on your device:

Diagnosing the reason why a printer does not print is quite difficult, since there are currently a huge number of different brands of printers on sale, and each of them may have different problems.

How can I find out why the printer is not printing?

The first step is to make sure that the printer is plugged in and connected to the computer in accordance with all manufacturer recommendations.

The next step is to check the printer driver. It may be outdated, and if you reinstall the driver, the printing problems may also disappear. This often happens when the question arises about why an hp printer does not print - this is their “occupational disease”.

The Windows Update Web site, which detects hardware connected to your computer and notifies you of new drivers, can help you find the latest printer driver.

  1. To launch Windows Update, click the Start button, then All Programs, then Windows Update.
  2. Click “Check for updates” in the left panel and wait while Windows searches for the latest updates.
  3. If updates are still found, click “Install updates.” If these actions can be performed by a person with administrator rights, enter the login and password in the authorization request window that appears.

There is a possibility that new driver exists even if it is not listed as an update: it is possible that it has not yet been provided to Windows by the manufacturer.

Many Canon or HP printer manufacturers list current drivers in sections of their websites. You can download the required driver by following the manufacturer's instructions.

Why does the printer print in stripes?

It's probably a cartridge issue that needs to be replaced. This often happens when a Canon printer does not print. early models. You need to look at the print queue information, it may say that the toner is low on ink. The printer itself may have fields or windows showing the status of the toner or ink.

We will consider possible situations in more detail below. By the way, the same reasons may exist if the printer prints blank sheets.

There may also be problems with the USB connection between the computer and the printer. In case there is no connection between the computer and the printer, you need to follow the steps below:

  1. Disconnect the computer from the network, disconnect the cable from the printer and connect it again.
  2. Connect your computer to the network and try to print any document.
  3. If the problem persists, try replacing the USB cable from the printer and repeat steps 1 and 2.

When the printer does not print black

If an hp printer (no matter which one: inkjet or laser) begins to print pale and blurry or no black color at all, and the cartridge is still full, then you need to do the following:

  1. For inkjet printer: remove all cartridges and clean all contacts with a cotton swab moistened warm water. This will improve the exchange of information between the cartridge and the printer.
  2. For a laser printer: remove the cartridge and shake it horizontally and vertically. This will ensure that the toner is evenly distributed throughout the entire surface of the cartridge.

Dark line when printing with a Canon printer

Try changing the cartridge, even if it is brand new, as it may be defective, or refill it. If all these steps do not bring the desired result, and a dark stripe or gray background is present when printing, this indicates that the toner is of poor quality.

If the cartridge is not new and has been refilled several times, most likely its parts are faulty: the photoconductor or the roller. In addition to these parts, there are others that can wear out during operation and affect the print quality, so it is better to invite specialists to replace worn parts.

Diagnosing printing problems is very difficult for a non-specialist. Therefore, it is recommended to check everything in the order described above. And the problem itself, as you can see, is quite easy to fix. You don't have to go to a repair shop to do this.

A printer is a device for printing digital data. Today, almost everyone has such a device at home. There are many different models available. They are divided both by printing principle (laser, inkjet, matrix) and by functionality (photo printing, support for various formats, pre-processing, double-sided printing).

No matter how modern your device is, everyone can encounter problems. Many of them can be solved independently without contacting support, especially if the error is of a software nature.

The printer gives an error

There are several causes of printer or printing related errors and they can be divided into two categories.

The first is software:

The second reason for errors is hardware errors that are related directly to the device itself, such as:

In fact, there are many more system messages from a modern printer. But everything, one way or another, is related to refilling/replacing a cartridge or jammed paper, as well as overheating of the device.

Most problems with a non-working cartridge arise after refilling it, since many of them have protection from the manufacturer in the form of special counters and sensors.

Checking OS and device settings

If you are faced with the fact that the device does not display any messages on the screen, and nothing happens when you send a file for printing, then before contacting service center with the question: “What should I do? The printer has stopped printing, check the connection settings of the device, as well as the operating system.

To do this, the first step is to check whether the device is connected to the computer correctly and whether the operating system sees it.

To do this you should:

  • open the task manager and find the required device;
  • it must be in the list and match the name of your device;
  • opposite it there should be no indication of an erroneous connection, conflict or disconnection (yellow Exclamation point or red cross).

Now you need to check that the settings of the device itself are correct.

If printing does not start, there may be several problems:

To check this data, you need to go to the “Control Panel” and select “Devices and Printers”. Here you can change the default printing device (by right-clicking the menu and activating the corresponding checkbox). In the device properties, check whether the settings are correct.

Photo: Set the default print function

If you cannot connect to a network device, it is better to seek help from the user of the remote computer or the network administrator.

Is the driver installed?

When connecting any device to your computer for the first time, you need to install drivers. In the case of printers, it is better to install not only the driver, but also the program for working with the device. The software is almost always supplied on disk with the device and also contains instructions in several languages.

Occasionally in expensive models software provided on a USB flash drive. To check whether the driver is installed correctly, you need to go to the “Device Manager” of the Windows operating system.

To do this you should:

  • left-click on “My Computer” on the desktop or “Computer” in the “Start” menu and call “Properties”;
  • In the menu on the left, select “Manager...”;
  • Check the list to see if your device is available.

The device must be in the “Printers and Scanners” category. Its name must match exactly or approximately the name of your device (if the driver is universal, or the hardware and software has not changed since the previous model).

For example, you have a Canon Pixma MP 280 model, it may appear in the task manager as Canon Pixma MP 200 or MP 2.

Video: Printer does not print

Print queue busy

If you are sure that the printer is working but not printing, you need to check whether the print queue is busy. Most modern devices with fully installed software themselves display a similar error on the screen.

However, this does not always happen.

Most often, users of large networks encounter the print queue problem when working with a shared printer. In this case, one task may consist of many parts. For example, if it is very large, the program itself could divide it in order not to overload the internal memory of the device.

In addition, corporate practice shows that very often there are cases when one task was not completed completely due to errors (the paper ran out or jammed, the printer overheated), and another was sent and another.

Depending on the model, the device may not pay attention to unfinished tasks and continue to work until its memory is completely clogged with such fragments. Or immediately not allow you to continue working.

There can be two ways out:

What to do if the printer does not print after refilling the cartridge

Users who have tried to refill the cartridge themselves, clean it, or soak it in a special solution, often encounter the following problem: the printer has stopped printing, what should I do now?

Refilling a cartridge is complex operation, containing many nuances that users do not take into account, so they then contact the service center with more serious problems.

The thing is that each device requires an individual approach when we're talking about about refueling. The first thing you need to do is find out whether the cartridge is equipped with special protections and chips, and read whether it has a page counter or another clever option from the manufacturers.

In addition, when refilling the cartridge yourself, it is very important to ensure that you do not “air” the ink supply system in the case of inkjet printers.

And on a laser device - do not stain, scratch the drum or knock down the spring that secures the gears.

Photo: refilling a laser cartridge with powder

In any case, if after refilling the printer works but does not print, you need to contact a professional, a workshop, so as not to completely damage it. Cartridge prices are sometimes half the cost of the entire device, so you should be very careful when refilling.

Most problems with the printer arise from software errors, but they can be easily sorted out yourself without going to a computer repair shop. If errors cannot be resolved, you should contact a specialist.

When a cartridge needs to be refilled, you must carefully study all the information and strictly follow the instructions, and for printers with inkjet printing In general, it is better to install a special ink supply system. Thanks to this, most problems can be avoided.

Using a printer, you can output digital information onto paper, but quite often it does not work correctly. A problem of this kind can arise with any printer, regardless of the brand and type of printing, so all the methods for solving the problem described in the article are relevant for almost any printer model, regardless of what OS the computer to which the device is connected is running.

In most cases, problems that prevent the computer from detecting the printer are not serious and can be easily resolved even inexperienced user PC. But if none of the methods helps, then this means that the breakdown is serious, or the printer has its own individual characteristics in operation (such models are extremely rare).

Hardware check

A common cause of printer failure is the USB cable coming out of the port. In this case, the computer recognizes the device as not connected. To fix this, you just need to reconnect the printer to your computer. Check the cord for damage. Sometimes it can break. More often this happens somewhere at the ends of the cable. In this case, the problem can be solved by fixing the broken areas (for example, with electrical tape). If this does not help, then you will have to replace the cable.

Sometimes the printer refuses to print due to improper handling. For example, you have placed too many sheets in the output slot and/or have wrinkled them too much. For these cases, many models are equipped with special indicators on the body. Try to correctly transfer the sheets into the receiver, and the problem will solve itself.

Also, do not forget that the printer may run out of ink. If this is the case, then a special indicator on the case will light up, and when you try to print something, an error window will appear or the device will work “idle”.

If the proposed options do not help, then there are two algorithms for the development of events:

  • serious damage to the printer, i.e., it will have to be sent for repair or replaced with another device. Fortunately, this is rare.
  • problem with the software component. As a rule, these are outdated or deleted drivers.

Method 1: Settings

Sometimes the printer refuses to work due to incorrect software settings. To check that the settings are correct, do the following:

Then try printing something again. If all else fails, try restarting your computer. Most often this is not necessary, but some versions of Windows and the printer software may not see the changes until you restart them. You can also try turning the printer on and off.
If these manipulations did not help, then the problem may be due to incorrectly working drivers.

Method 2: Reinstalling drivers

In modern versions of Windows, Linux and Mac, all the necessary software for the printer to work is installed either in the background or with electronic media, which comes with the device. If the device does not work the first time you use it, download the drivers from the manufacturer’s official website.

Hello.

Those who often print something, whether at home or at work, sometimes encounter a similar problem: when you send a file for printing, the printer does not seem to respond (or it “buzzes” for several seconds and the result is also zero). Since I often have to resolve such issues, I will say right away: 90% of cases when the printer does not print are not associated with a breakdown of either the printer or the computer.

In this article I want to give the most common reasons why the printer refuses to print (such problems can be solved very quickly, for an experienced user it takes 5-10 minutes). By the way, an important note right away: the article does not deal with cases where the printer, for example, prints a sheet with stripes or prints blank white sheets, etc.

5 most common reasons why it won't print Printer

No matter how funny it may sound, very often the printer does not print because they forgot to turn it on (I especially often see this picture at work: the employee next to whom the printer is standing simply forgot to turn it on, and the rest spend 5-10 minutes sorting it out what's the matter...). Typically, when the printer is turned on, it makes a buzzing sound and several LEDs on its body light up.

By the way, sometimes the printer's power cable can be interrupted - for example, during repairs or when moving furniture (very often happens in offices). In any case, check that the printer is connected to the network, as is the computer to which it is connected.

Reason #1 - the wrong printer was selected for printing

The fact is that in Windows (at least 7, at least 8) there are several printers: some of them have nothing in common with a real printer. And many users, especially when they are in a hurry, simply forget to look at which printer they are sending the document to for printing. Therefore, first of all, I recommend once again carefully paying attention to this point when printing (see Fig. 1).

Rice. 1 - sending the file for printing. Network printer Samsung brand.

Reason No. 2 - Windows crash, print queue freezes

One of the most common reasons! Quite often, a banal freeze in the print queue occurs; this error can especially often occur when the printer is connected to local network and it is used by several users at once.

This also often happens when printing some “damaged” file. To restore the printer, you need to cancel and clear the print queue.

To do this, go to the control panel, switch the view mode to “Small icons” and select the “devices and printers” tab (see Fig. 2).

Rice. 2 Control Panel - Devices and Printers.

Rice. 3 Devices and Printers - View the Print Queue

In the list of documents to print - cancel all documents that will be there (see Fig. 4).

Rice. 4 Cancels printing the document.

After this, in most cases, the printer starts working normally and you can resend the desired document for printing.

Reason #3 - missing or jammed paper

Typically, when paper is low or jammed, Windows will issue a warning when printing (but sometimes there won't be one).

Paper jams are a fairly common occurrence, especially in organizations where they save paper: they use sheets that have already been used, for example, by printing information on sheets with reverse side. Such sheets are most often wrinkled and cannot be placed in an even stack in the receiving tray of the device - this causes the percentage of paper jams to be quite high.

Usually wrinkled the sheet is visible in the body device and it must be carefully removed: just pull the sheet towards you, without jerking.

Important! Some users jerk the jammed sheet out. Because of this, a small piece remains in the device body, which prevents further printing. Because of this piece, which you can no longer cling to, you have to disassemble the device down to the “cogs”...

If the jammed sheet is not visible- open the printer cover and remove the cartridge from it (see Fig. 5). In a typical design of a conventional laser printer, most often, behind the cartridge you can see several pairs of rollers through which a sheet of paper passes: if it is jammed, you should see it. It is important to remove it carefully so that there are no torn pieces left on the shaft or rollers. Be careful and careful.

Rice. 5 Typical printer design (for example HP): you need to open the cover and take out the cartridge to see the jammed sheet

Reason #4 - driver problem

Typically, driver problems begin after: changing Windows OS (or reinstalling); installing new equipment (which may conflict with the printer); software failure and viruses (which is much less common than the first two reasons).

First, I recommend going to the Windows control panel (switch the view to small icons) and open the device manager. In Device Manager, you need to open the Printers tab ( sometimes called a print queue) and see if there are any red or yellow exclamation marks (indicating driver problems).

And in general, the presence of exclamation marks in the device manager is undesirable - it indicates problems with the devices, which, by the way, can also affect the operation of the printer.

Rice. 6 Checking the printer driver.

  • Remove the printer driver completely from Windows:
  • Download new drivers from the official website of the device manufacturer and install them:

Reason No. 5 - a problem with the cartridge, for example, the ink (toner) has run out

The last thing I wanted to dwell on in this article is the cartridge. When the ink or toner runs out, the printer either prints empty white sheets (by the way, this can also be observed simply when the ink is of poor quality or the head is broken), or simply does not print at all...

I recommend checking the amount of ink (toner) in the printer. This can be done in the Windows OS control panel, in the “Devices and Printers” section: by going to the properties of the desired equipment (see Fig. 3 of this article).

In some cases, Windows will display incorrect information about the presence of paint, so you should not completely trust it.

When the toner runs out (when dealing with laser printers), one simple tip helps a lot: you need to take out the cartridge and shake it a little. The powder (toner) will be evenly redistributed throughout the cartridge and you will be able to print again (though not for long). Be careful during this operation - you may get dirty with toner.

I have everything on this issue. I hope that you will quickly resolve your issue with the printer. Good luck!

Some users Microsoft Word Sometimes they encounter a problem - the printer does not print documents. It’s one thing if the printer basically doesn’t print anything, that is, it doesn’t work in all programs. In this case, it is quite obvious that the problem lies in the equipment. It’s a completely different matter if the print function does not work only in Word or, which also sometimes occurs, only with some, or even with one document.

Whatever the reasons behind the problem when the printer does not print documents, in this article we will deal with each of them. Of course, we will also tell you how to fix this problem and still print the necessary documents.

Reason 1: Inattentive user

For the most part, this applies to inexperienced PC users, because there is always a possibility that a beginner who encounters a problem is simply doing something wrong. We recommend that you make sure that you are doing everything correctly, and our article on printing in the Microsoft editor will help you figure it out.

Reason 2: Equipment connection is incorrect

It is possible that the printer is not connected correctly or is not connected to the computer at all. So at this stage you should double-check all cables, both at the output/input from the printer and at the output/input of the PC or laptop. It would be a good idea to check whether the printer is turned on at all; perhaps someone turned it off without your knowledge.

Reason 3: Problems with equipment performance

Having opened the printing section in Word, you should make sure that you have selected the correct printer. Depending on the software installed on your work machine, there may be several devices in the printer selection window. True, all but one (physical) will be virtual.

If your printer is not listed in this window or is not selected, you should make sure it is ready.

Reason 4: Problem with a specific document

Quite often, Word does not want, or rather cannot, documents because they have been damaged or contain damaged data (graphics, fonts). It is quite possible that you will not have to make much effort to solve the problem if you try the following manipulations.

If you are able to print a test text document, then the problem was hidden in the file itself. Try copying the contents of the file you couldn't print and pasting it into another document, then sending it to print. In many cases this can help.

If the document you desperately need printed still won't print, there's a good chance it's damaged. In addition, this possibility also exists if a particular file or its contents are printed from another file or on another computer. The fact is that the so-called symptoms of damage to text files may well appear only on some computers.

Reason 5: MS Word crashes

As was said at the very beginning of the article, some problems with printing documents may only affect Microsoft Word. Others may affect several (but not all) or indeed all programs installed on the PC. In any case, when trying to thoroughly understand why Word does not print documents, it is worth understanding whether the cause of this problem lies in the program itself.

Try sending a document for printing from any other program, for example, from the standard WordPad editor. If possible, paste the contents of the file that you cannot print into the program window, and try sending it for printing.

If the document is printed, you will be convinced that the problem is in Word, therefore, move on to next point. If the document did not print in another program, we still proceed to the next steps.

Reason 6: Background printing

In the document that you want to print on a printer, perform the following manipulations:

Reason 7: Incorrect drivers

Perhaps the problem why the printer does not print documents does not lie in the connection and readiness of the printer, nor in the Word settings. Perhaps all the methods described above did not help you solve the problem due to the drivers on the MFP. They may be incorrect, outdated, or even completely absent.

Therefore, in this case, you need to reinstall the software required for the printer to operate. You can do this in one of the following ways:

  • Install the drivers from the disk that comes with the equipment;
  • Download drivers from the manufacturer’s official website, selecting your specific hardware model, indicating the installed version of the operating system and its bit depth.

After you've reinstalled the software, restart your computer, open Word, and try to print the document. We discussed the procedure for installing drivers for printing equipment in more detail in a separate article. We recommend that you familiarize yourself with it in order to definitely avoid possible problems.

Reason 8: Lack of access rights (Windows 10)

IN latest version In Windows, problems with printing documents in Microsoft Word may be caused by insufficient system user rights or the lack of them in relation to one specific directory. You can get them as follows:

  1. Login to the operating system under account with Administrator rights, if this has not been done previously.
  2. Go to the path C:\Windows (if the OS is installed on a different drive, change its letter in this address) and find the folder there "Temp".
  3. Right-click on it (RMB) and select context menu paragraph "Properties".
  4. In the dialog box that opens, go to the tab "Safety". Based on the username, find in the list "Groups or users" the account through which you work in Microsoft Word and plan to print documents. Select it and click on the button "Change".
  5. Another dialog box will open, and in it you also need to find and select the account used in the program. In the parameter block "Group Permissions", in a collumn "Allow", check the checkboxes opposite all the items presented there.
  6. To close the window, click "Apply" And "OK"(in some cases additional confirmation of changes will be required by pressing "Yes" in a pop-up window "Windows Security"), restart your computer, making sure to log in to the same account for which we provided the missing permissions in the previous step.
  7. Launch Microsoft Word and try to print the document.
  8. If the problem with printing was due to the lack of necessary permissions, it will be fixed.

Checking files and settings of the Word program

In the event that problems with printing are not limited to one specific document, when reinstalling drivers did not help, when problems arise in Word alone, you should check its performance. In this case, you need to try running the program with default parameters. You can reset the values manually, but this is not the easiest process, especially for inexperienced users.

  1. Open the folder with the downloaded installer and run it.
  2. Follow the instructions of the Installation Wizard (it is in English, but everything is intuitive).
  3. Upon completion of the process, the performance problem will be resolved automatically, Word settings will be reset to default values.
  4. Since the Microsoft utility deletes the problematic registry key, the next time you open Word, the correct key will be re-created. Now try printing the document.

Restoring Microsoft Word

If the method described above does not solve the problem, you should try another program recovery method. To do this you need to run the function "Find and restore", which will help you find and reinstall those program files that have been damaged (if any, of course). To do this, you need to run the standard utility "Installation and removal of programms" or "Programs and Features", depending on the OS version.

Word 2010 and higher

Word 2007

  1. Open Word, click on the Quick Access toolbar "MS Office" and go to the section "Word Options".
  2. select Options "Resources" And "Diagnostics".
  3. Follow the prompts that appear on the screen.

Word 2003

  1. Click on the button "Reference" and select "Find and restore".
  2. Click "Begin".
  3. When prompted, paste installation disk Microsoft Office, then click "OK".
  4. If the above-described manipulations did not help eliminate the problem with printing documents, the only thing that remains for you and me is to look for it in the operating system.

Additionally: Troubleshooting Windows problems

It also happens that the normal operation of MS Word, and at the same time the printing function we need, is interfered with by some drivers or programs. They can be in the program memory or in the system memory itself. To check if this is the case, you should start Windows in safe mode.

  1. Remove optical disks and flash drives from the computer, disconnect unnecessary devices, leaving only the keyboard and mouse.
  2. Restart your computer.
  3. During restart, hold down the key "F8"(immediately after turning on, starting from the appearance of the motherboard manufacturer’s logo on the screen).
  4. A black screen with white text will appear in front of you, where in the section "Advanced boot options" you need to select an item "Safe mode"(move using the arrow keys on your keyboard, press the key to select "ENTER").
  5. Log in as an administrator.
  6. Now, after starting your computer in safe mode, open Word and try to print a document in it. If there are no problems with printing, then the cause of the problem lies in the operating system. Therefore, it needs to be eliminated. To do this, you can try performing a system restore (assuming you have a backup of the OS). If until recently you normally printed documents in Word using this printer, after a system restore the problem will definitely disappear.

Conclusion

We hope this detailed article helped you get rid of problems with printing in Word and you were able to print the document before you tried all the described methods. If none of the options we suggested help you, we strongly recommend that you contact a qualified specialist.

Let's follow my example. You can also open any document and, together with me, step by step learn the printing functionality on your PC.

Let's look at the screenshot. On it is a document that I prepared in advance for the article:

In order to enter the document printing panel, we need to click on the FILE tab and go to the Print section:

In the screenshot I have highlighted the following areas:

1 – task execution area. It includes the Print button and selection of the number of copies. Copies are the required number of identical documents. You can set the quantity using the buttons to the right of the window or enter the number manually.

2 – area of the task executor. Here we select the printer to print and set the printer settings.

3 – print settings area. The main area where we configure the document's printing options.

4 – preview area. Here we observe the document visually. Since all the contents of the document will be located on the sheet.

5 – viewing navigation area. The number of pages is indicated here and all of them can be viewed by clicking on the triangle.

Setting up document printing.

Now let's turn our attention to the print settings area.

Screenshot No. 1:

Here we select the connected printer. The word – Ready – means the printer is ready to operate.

Screenshot No. 2:

Page printing settings section. Here we will be interested only in the selected areas.

Print all pages. When you select this function, all pages in the document will be printed.

Print current page. Prints the page that is displayed in the preview area.

Print custom range. The pages whose numbers were entered into the page range window will be printed:

Example: print page 1 to 5. You need to enter: 1,2,3.4,5 or 1-5

Print even and odd pages. Select the even pages first, after printing, turn over the printed stack and select the odd pages. An example of two-sided printing.

Screenshot No. 3:

Single-sided or double-sided printing function. When selecting duplex printing. At the end of the first pass, a window will pop up with the steps to print on the second side. Here everything will depend on the modification of the printer.

Screenshot No. 4:

It is very convenient if you print a document in several copies. For example, a document contains 5 sheets. If you select option 1,2,3, then the documents will be printed in order: the first copy is 1,2,3,4,5, the second copy is 1,2,3,4,5, etc. If you choose option 111, 222, 333. Then the document will look like 1 page 5 copies, 2 page 5 copies, etc.

Screenshot No. 5:

Selecting page orientation. This step is not useful if you are printing a finished document. If you're printing a draft, you can choose one of the options for greater space savings or visual display.

Screenshot No. 6:

Selecting a sheet format. Everything should be clear here. If you are printing on A3 format, then in this paragraph you must select A3. Otherwise, what is printed will not be displayed correctly on the sheet.

Screenshot No. 7:

Setting up fields. The item is also useless if you are printing a finished document. When printing a draft, you can confuse the margins to save paper.

Screenshot No. 8:

Selecting pages on a sheet. The same useful thing, but only for printing a draft. Here you can place up to 16 pages on 1 sheet. It’s cool if you print, for example, cheat sheets.

All! We went through the settings, I think that everything is written clearly and intelligibly, if you have any questions, write in the comments.

Document printing practice.

Everything is just as simple here. After setting up the document, click on the print button. And a printed document should appear in the printer tray. We look at the result and correct it if necessary. And we repeat the whole procedure. Don't forget to turn on the printer and charge the paper.

For fast printing document, you can use the keyboard shortcut on your computer – Ctrl+P. The letter "P" on the Latin layout.

Why doesn't the printer print a Word document?

Yes, this happens too! You press print, but the printer does not print. In this case it is necessary:

1. Check the connection of the printer to the computer.

2. Make sure the printer is turned on.

3. In the printer selection area, make sure you have selected the correct printer. And it says Ready.

If the printer is not selected, then go to the start menu and select the toolbar. Let's look at the screenshot:

4. We make the document ready for editing. Let's look at the picture:

Here we click on the “Protect document” button and select “Allow editing”.

5. If all of the above did not help, then do the following.

In the document, click on the “File” tab, select “Options”. In the parameters, select the “Advanced” item and look for the “Print” section. And uncheck the “Background printing” checkbox. Look at the screenshot: 12

If all this does not help, then reinstall the drivers. Reboot the computer and printer. If it didn't help AGAIN. Then we copy the contents of the document into new document and try again.

In conclusion, I will say that the printer is a really COOL thing. And not necessarily only for office workers, but also for students, pupils. Or, for example, it’s nice to print out a bunch of coloring pages for small child. And on this topic you can read an article that will undoubtedly surprise you with the capabilities of a regular printer.

As you can see, the printer is of great importance in modern society. The average price of the simplest printer is from 1500 rubles. and more. So nowadays this pleasure is available to most users.

I hope that the article was useful and easy to understand. Share your experience and leave feedback on the material. I tried to provide the material, and I will be pleased to see comments from you.
