Who is Goddess Kali? Kali Ma in Soviet culture. Volgograd

First of all, I want to warn you that I share the feelings of people who lost their loved ones both in the distant 40s and during the recent numerous terrorist attacks in Volgograd. For me, the memory of the dead and the cult of Kali are two mutually exclusive concepts. I hope this article can explain my position in detail.

Distinctive features of Kali Ma and the Motherland.

Only in delirium can one imagine that the memory of those killed in the battles of Stalingrad can be immortalized in a statue dedicated to the bloodthirsty ghoul. And the call to death looks completely different from the propaganda poster “Kali Ma is calling!”

The bloodthirsty goddess Kali Ma has a number of distinctive features. The previous article examined 10 features that were “blurred” across three statues in Tbilisi. In Volgograd, there is one of the tallest statues in the world called “Motherland”, which also has a number of features that make it possible to definitely identify Kali Ma in it. Some signs are not as obvious as in the case of the three statues in Tbilisi, but one should not forget about the peculiar “logic” of the initiates - for them a half-hint, half-sign is enough. Perhaps I also missed some points, since I did not have a chance to personally visit Volgograd and all the material in the article is based on information from open sources.

1) Name. R alone Ma the one who stands on Mother evom TO Urgan. In the Slavic "Vedic pantheon" TO Ali Ma corresponds Poppy Osh or Ma-R A.
The play of consonants is obvious M-K-R.

2) Sword. Kali Ma holds a huge sword tightly in her hand

3) Shiva. Just like in Tbilisi, Kali Ma is captured moving towards a warrior, dismembered and already half-grown into the ground. According to tradition, Kali Ma must stand on the chest of the defeated half-dead, half-dead Shiva (Shiva in the form of a corpse).

The connection between the monument to the warrior and Shiva is mentioned, in particular, here: “Soviet warrior-hero - Shiva. Machine gun - small arms, bow. Grenade - mace.” It is worth noting that Durga is another name of Kali Ma.

4) Battle. There is indeed a battle all around her. One of the bloodiest and most brutal in history. And now it is imprinted in the memorial culture and in the cemetery located right behind Kali Ma in Volgograd. Almost everywhere Kali Ma is placed either directly on the bones or another connection with mass casualties can be traced. One of the graves (Marshal Soviet Union) is located right at the foot of Kali Ma. She loves this kind of thing...
Such “monuments” on Mamayev Kurgan have a clear and unambiguous effect on the subconscious.

5) Breasts. For a monument dedicated to the memory of the dead and having a mention of the mother in its name, such artistic attention to the image of the breast seems completely strange

6) Language. Often Kali Ma is depicted not with her tongue hanging out, but with her mouth open. Indeed, the Volgograd Kali Ma has an ugly mouth. There is a historical “anecdote” intended to somehow explain such an “artistic decision”.

One of the two architects, Vuchetich told Andrei Sakharov: “My bosses ask me why her mouth is open, because it’s ugly. I answer: And she screams - for the Motherland... your mother!

7) Torch. Kali Ma has many hands. Usually 4, but sometimes 6 and 8. Each time the question of how to depict additional hands is solved in an original way. If in Tbilisi three pairs of hands were “distributed” among three statues in a position up, to the sides and down, then in Volgograd they decided to go the same way as the tongue was depicted in Tbilisi. Let me remind you that the “mother’s tongue” is depicted as a separate monument, oriented strictly to the north. In the case of the Volgograd Kali Ma, due east there is a separate pavilion in which "no man's hand" holds a torch. Through the hole in the roof you can see whose extra hand with the torch it is. This is such a multi-armed “mother”.

Sacrifices to Kali Ma

The complex on Mamayev Kurgan still requires bloody sacrifices. Kali is a formidable and bloodthirsty goddess who demands fresh blood from her followers. Unfortunately, as Pelevin artistically portrayed it, Kali Ma is still being sacrificed to this day. Of course, few people know or even think about this, but I undertake to establish some connection.

Before showing the relationship between the “terrorist attacks”, I want to make an assumption. For some reason, the objects of the blood cult and the places of sacrifice are connected along geolines (meridians, parallels), and the coordinates are very accurately verified. Perhaps the strength of the “effect” obtained during the sacrifice depends on geographical accuracy.
In other cases, the reference is not to geolines, but to artificial lines created by very tall objects, such as television and radio towers, huge monuments, statues, and spiers.

As an elective, I advise you to quickly flip through the book “Systems of Cosmic Communication and Suppression of Consciousness on New Principles.” Don’t be alarmed by the technical details, look through the pictures of architecture. There is especially detail about Astana - the city was built almost from scratch, and the system in the planning is especially visible:
http://pravdu.ru/arhiv/SISTEMY_KOSMIChESKOI_SVYaZII_PODAVLENIE_SOZNANIYa.pdf

So, let's look at 4 terrorist attacks

Author va123ma in the commentary to the article they describe the geographical relationship of the bus bombing in Volgograd on October 21, clearly characterizing the “terrorist attack” as a sacrifice. The geographic accuracy in this case is not very high - perhaps something went wrong? In addition, I did not see a direct connection to Kali Ma in this attack, unlike the other three cases.

On the 65th anniversary of the start of World War II, one of the most brutal terrorist attacks was carried out, in which children were killed and suffered primarily in Beslan.

School number 1 in Beslan is located with very great accuracy on the same meridian as Kali Ma ("Motherland"). The error is only a few tens of meters (!), although the distance Volgograd - Beslan is about 600 kilometers. Don't be lazy, check it out for yourself:

48°44"32.42"N 44°32"13.63"E- "Motherland"
43°11"6.11"N 44°32"8.51"E- School N1 in Beslan

Monstrous accuracy of coincidence in the longitude coordinate (meridian 44°32")! Children died in Beslan... And I am sure that there is a connection, because the thread winds further...

With the same sophisticated accuracy at the same longitude "Night Wolves" in August 2013, day after day on the anniversary terrible bombing Stalingrad, they erect a replica monument to children dancing around a crocodile. When children dance around a ferocious man-eating predator, disaster awaits!

So, compare the coordinates - this time the replica monument was placed very precisely on the Kali Ma meridian - School number 1. Note - the children are charred, blackened. This is the spulptor’s idea, this is the “memory” of the children who died in Beslan!

48°42"57"N 44°32"00"E- coordinates of the monument - replicas at the "Mill", still the same meridian 44°32"

The second monument, already with snow-white grown-up children, as if by a thread, leads us to the next “terrorist attack,” since the second “crocodile” was placed right at the entrance to the station, where the explosion occurred.

The second crocodile, having feasted on children in Beslan, leads us to the station.
The two explosions that occurred in Volgograd were located with great precision on the lines formed by high-rise buildings and the gigantic Kali Ma monument. Probably to enhance the effect. This is what it looks like:

Both lines begin on the giant Kali Ma
48°44"32.42"N 44°32"13.63"E

The first line passes through the station square, where the explosion occurred, and ends at another strange but very high (22 meters high) monument to the Chekist soldiers
48°42"5.74"N 44°30"21.00"E

By "coincidence" the monument to the security officer is located at the intersection of the street KALI Nina.
In the hands of the security officer warrior is a sword (referring to Kali Ma), which is a kind of antenna. IN nightmare I can imagine such a security officer warrior, armed with a sword for the second time world war. Or is he the “Motherland Father”?

An explosion in a trolley bus lies on the Kali Ma - TV tower line. The photo in the lower right corner is a visual illusion, since the 192-meter-high TV tower is more than twice as tall as the statue and is the highest point in Volgograd.

coordinates of the explosion in the trolleybus
48°44"9.94"N 44°29"52.90"E
TV tower coordinates (next to Kali Ma and cemetery)
48°44"29.16"N 44°31"50.36"E

In general, television and radio towers are almost universally built next to or right on cemeteries, or they were stormed and blood was shed:
Moscow (that’s the name - Ostankino, on the remains, the cemetery right under the tower)
Volgograd (memorial cemetery behind "Motherland")
Kyiv (Babi Yar)
Tbilisi (Mtatsminda Pantheon)
Vilnius (people died during the assault)
...
TV towers deserve a separate article. Now I’ll just mention that one of the two authors of the project for the Kali Ma monument - Nikitin - became the chief designer of the Ostankino TV tower, and before that he designed the main building of Moscow State University. A deeply dedicated person.

I don’t know exactly how the mechanism of sacrifice works, why and who needs it. But the fact that today the cult of Kali Ma influences our lives is undeniable.

An expressive example of a Shakta cult can be considered the worship of the goddess Kali, also known as Mahakali (Great Kali), Adya Kali (Primordial Kali), especially widespread in Bengal. Her appearance is typical of a terrifying, aggressive and bloodthirsty Goddess. She is often depicted naked, with a skeletal black body. She accepts blood sacrifices (which are now often replaced by offerings of bright red flowers to her) and is the embodiment of death, danger, and impurity.

Nevertheless, Kali’s adherents call her mother, feel passionate love for her, and direct all their thoughts to her. The paradox of love for Kali is explained not only by the adherents’ belief that the powerful goddess, the destroyer of demons, is able to reliably protect them, her children. It is also important for their psychology that love for a scary, unattractive creature is always perceived as a pure, unselfish emotion. During the struggle for independence, Indian society endowed the image of Mother India with the features of the goddess Kali, and Shaktism became a kind of religion of patriotism.

Indian mythology describes a time when evil forces fought with good ones, and these battles took place quite actively, i.e. with thousands of victims, victims on both sides. Devi Mahatmya's book talks about this.
This treatise describes the Goddess (Devi). The Goddess in Hinduism is Shakti, the Power and Desire of God Almighty. It is She, according to Hinduism, who destroys all evil in the world. She is called differently, reflecting Her versatility - Mahamaya, Kali, Durga, Devi, Lolita... Even the name Allah is found.
She has many names, the treatise of 1000 names of Lolita Sri Shankaracharya is known, where he describes Her in a thousand names, the first of which is the Sacred Mother, who gives not only all the good that loving Mother gives to her child, but also the highest knowledge, knowledge of Divine vibrations to those who worship Her. Sri Nishchinta (Free from worry), Sri Nihsamshaya (Having no doubts), Sri Rakshakari (Savior), Sri Parameshwari (Principal Ruler), Sri Adi Shaktihi (Primal Power, Holy Spirit), Vishwa-Garbha (The entire universe is contained in Her) - such By names Shankaracharya characterizes the Power and Will of God Almighty.
Also Shankaracharya and Devi Mahatmya describe the Destructive power of the Goddess. In any monotheistic religion (and Hinduism is certainly a monotheistic religion) it is said that God Almighty controls both good and evil. Otherwise He would not be Almighty. So the Wrath of God Almighty is described everywhere, a wrath of terrifying power. One can recall the description of the Last Judgment in the Koran and the description of the Apocalypse in the Bible - they all talk about the terrible punishments that God brings down on those who followed the paths of evil. The treatise of Devi Mahatmya was no exception: Kali is one of the destructive aspects of the Goddess, described in the seventh chapter:
...
2. Having received such an order (to destroy the Goddess), the Daityas (evil forces) led by Chanda and Munda, raising their weapons, set out as an army of four clans (troops).
3. And on the golden peak high mountain they saw Devi sitting on a lion with a slight smile.
4. And seeing Tu (Devi), some went to capture Her, while others approached Her, drawing their swords and drawing their bows.
5. Then a terrible anger at her enemies awoke in Ambika, and in rage Her face became pitch black.
6. And from Her high forehead with brows frowning in anger suddenly came Kali - scary-faced, carrying a sword and lasso,
7. Holding a wondrous staff crowned with a skull, adorned with a garland of skulls, clad in the skin of a tiger, awe-inspiring with the sight of (Her) emaciated flesh,
8. With a wide open mouth, a terribly moving tongue, with deeply sunken scarlet eyes, resounding with a roar in the cardinal directions.
9. And rushing headlong against the great asuras, killing and devouring the armies of the enemies of the celestials,
10. She grabbed the elephants with one hand with their guards, drivers, warriors, bells, and threw them into Her mouth...
15. Some were killed by Her sword, others were struck by the blow of a staff crowned with a skull; other asuras met death, torn to pieces by Her sharp fangs.
16. In the blink of an eye, the entire army of asuras perished, and seeing this, Chanda (the demon) rushed to the incredibly terrible Kali.
17. With a terrible shower of arrows, that great asura, as well as Munda (the demon) - with a thousand thrown discs, covered (the goddess) with an awe-inspiring form.
18. But flying into Her mouth, those countless disks seemed like the disks of many suns, disappearing into the depths of the cloud.
19. And roaring terribly, Kali laughed menacingly in great rage - trembling fangs shone in Her terrible mouth.
20. Then the Goddess, seated on a great lion, rushed towards Chanda and, grabbing him by the hair, cut off his head with a sword.
21. And seeing the death of Chanda, Munda himself rushed (to the Goddess), but was thrown to the ground by the fierce blow of Her sword.
22. At the sight of the death of Chanda and the great in valor Munda, the remnants of the troops rushed in fear in all directions.
23. And catching the head of Chanda, as well as Munda, Kali approached Chandika and said, alternating words with frantic laughter:
24. I brought You Chanda and Munda, two great animals for the sacrifice-battle, and Shumbha and Nishumbha (the other 2 demons) You will kill Yourself!

Thus we can understand why the following names are given to the Goddess: Sri Ugraprabha (Radiating Fury), Sri Naramandali (Clad in a Garland of Skulls), Sri Krodhini (Cosmic Wrath). But at the same time - Sri Vilasini (Ocean of Joy), Sri Bhogavati (Supreme Giver of Joy in the World), Sri Manorama (Highest Divine Grace and Charm) - after all, She symbolizes the protection of humanity from evil, as well as maternal love and care. According to Devi Mahatmya She always comes to the rescue of righteous and good people.
Unfortunately, there are always people who can use religion for their own purposes. This is how the cult of Kali arose in India, the founders of which, taking advantage of the ignorance of ordinary villagers, committed terrible things, killing people. Representatives of almost all religions sometimes consider themselves entitled to kill in the name of God; here we can recall Muslim martyrs, Christian crusaders, and many others. But it is more appropriate to compare the followers of this terrible cult with Satanists, they are so far from the spirit of Hinduism, they misunderstood the essence of the Goddess.
Regarding the time called Kali Yuga, there are many wrong views here too. Kali time is the time when human illusions reach their maximum, causing a person to suffer. This was not done out of hatred for humanity, but so that people would think about the source of their suffering and begin to seek Truth and self-realization.

12 main Manifestations of Kali (Dvadasha-Kali):

1. SRISHTIKALI - Kali of Creation, the Personified Will to the creativity of the Higher Consciousness (Parasamvita). Creates world objects. Her motto: LET BEING BE!

2. RAKTAKALI - Kali of Preservation ("rakta" literally means "blood", but not in the sense of ordinary blood, which is denoted by the word "rudhira", but in the sense of "ovum", "female reproductive cell", "embryo", "fruit" ). Carries out living perception and maintenance of the life of the manifested world. Her motto: I SAVE OBJECTS OF EXISTENCE.

3. STHITINASHAKALI - Kali of the Destruction of the Existing. Carries out the absorption of consciousness into Itself and its removal from external objects and their annihilation (destruction). Her motto: I KNOWED THE OBJECTS OF EXISTENCE.

4. YAMKALI - Kali Restrictions. Creates doubts about the reality of existing objects. Her motto: OBJECTS OF EXISTENCE ARE NOT DIFFERENT FROM ME.

5. SAMHARAKALI - Kali of Destruction. Separates the connection between the awareness of objects of existence and their external forms and causes the destruction of doubts within Consciousness regarding their existence. Her motto: OBJECTS OF EXISTENCE DISAPPEAR INSIDE ME.

6. MRTYUKALI - Kali of Death. Carries out a total, complete immersion of the conscious object into the Conscious Subject, which is death and the disappearance of the external existence of objects. Her motto: EVERYTHING DISAPPEARS INTO ME, HAVING NO LIMITATIONS. (In this She surpasses even Samharakali).

7. RUDRAKALI, or BHADRKALI - Kali of Horror. Carries out instant restoration of a conscious object in Consciousness before its final disappearance. It is that Higher Consciousness that allows “mental pictures” and patterns of action committed in the past to appear in the consciousness of the individual subject. At the same time, doubt remains whether this action was right or wrong, which creates pleasant and unpleasant experiences here and later. Her motto: MY ACTION MAY BE HORRIBLE OR NOT HORRIBLE DEPENDING ON THE REMAINING DOUBT ABOUT WHAT I DID.

8. MARTANDAKALI - Kali of the Cosmic Egg. Carries out the fusion of all 12 methods of cognition of existence with the Supreme Consciousness (indriyas - 5 organs of perception and 5 organs of action, as well as manas (mind), buddhi (intellect) and ahamkara (consciousness-ego)). She is Anakhya, the Unlimited Power, in relation to the methods of knowing existence. Her motto: ALL METHODS OF COGNITION AND EGO ARE ONE WITH MY CONSCIOUSNESS AND THEREFORE DO NOT HAVE AN INDEPENDENT EXISTENCE AND NAME.

9. PARAMARKAKALI - Kali of the Supreme Radiance. Carries out the fusion of consciousness-ego with a limited spiritual subject. Her motto: OBJECTS DISAPPEAR INTO THE EGO, AND THE EGO IS IN THE SPIRIT OF THE SUBJECT THANKS TO ME.

10. KALANALARUDRAKALI - Kali of the Terrible Fire of Time. Carries out the merger of the Spirit-subject with Pure Wisdom, the individual “I” with the Higher “I”. Since She contains everything within Her, including even time and eternity, She is also called MAHAKALI. Her motto: I AM ALL THIS (or more accurately: I AM ALL).

11. MAHAKALAKALI - Kali of the Great Time. It merges Pure Wisdom with Energy, dissolves the feeling “I am everything” into simply “I”, a perfect self-sufficient “I” (A-Kula), for which there is nothing “this”. In this case, the subject disappears, just as before objects disappeared in the subject itself. Her motto: I-I.

12. MAHABHAIRAVACHANDOGRAGHORAKALI - Kali of Fearlessness, Terror, Wrath and one with the Great Instilling Fear (Bhairava). Carries out the merger of Energy with the Absolute, connecting together the “I”, “A-Kula”, subject, objects, methods of cognition and knowledge itself with Pure Consciousness. This is Her state of Para, the Supreme. Now She does not manifest Herself in the subject, objects, methods of cognition, etc., and therefore is completely free and self-sufficient. Her motto is: ONE WHOLE EVERYTHING (COMPLETENESS).
Sri Devi.

Indian myths about the gods, unlike the ancient ones, still remain little known, and most Europeans do not have the slightest idea about them. It is interesting that such legends are not ordinary stories, but real epics, the veracity of which is sacredly believed by true Hindus.

The appearance of the gods

The history of the Ancient World is full of various legends and myths, and each people has their own. As you know, the emergence of numerous gods was facilitated by the fact that people in the distant past could not explain why certain natural phenomena occurred. Man understood perfectly well that there were many things that he could not do on his own, for example, throw lightning, raise huge waves on the sea or raise the winds. Therefore, he began to attribute such abilities to more powerful beings who could cause such grandiose phenomena. They usually had the appearance of a person or an animal. Indian gods and goddesses were often endowed with the appearance and qualities of both. A striking example of this would be Ganesha or Hanuman - both with a human figure, but one with the head of an elephant, and the other - a monkey.

It is no secret that the most diverse and richest of all pagan beliefs is exactly indian mythology. The gods and goddesses discussed in this article were also endowed with several hypostases.

It must be said that Hindu legends began to take shape around the 1st century AD. e. in the Vedic culture of the Indo-Aryans. And all this thanks to Brahmanism, influenced by Buddhism. In addition, many of the ideas of Vedism were incorporated into Hinduism. This resulting religion became a new stage in the development of ancient Indian society.

Main triad

Hinduism placed a creator god at the forefront and established a stricter hierarchy in the pantheon. The names of Indian gods, such as Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu, are included in the triad (trimurti) of supreme beings, perceived as a manifestation of a single deity. The first of them was revered as the creator and ruler of the world, who established social laws (dharma) on earth and divided society into castes.

Over time, special roles began to be assigned to the other two: the god Shiva became the destroyer, and Vishnu the protector. As a result of this division, two main directions in Hinduism arose - Shaivism and Vaishnavism. Even now there are quite a lot of followers of these movements. The Hindu religious system, consisting of various cults, in relation to the image of Vishnu, developed the concept of avatars, which is a doctrine of God who descends from time to time into the world of people. Moreover, every time he changes his appearance.

Pantheon

As we know, Hindus worship hundreds of gods and goddesses. Some of them are white, like swan feathers, others are red, as if they worked tirelessly under the rays of the scorching sun, while others are completely black, like coal. But they all have one thing in common - they keep the world and the fate of nations in harmony. The Pantheon is built in such a way that all the ancient deities occupy their niche in it.

Brahma is the lord of all things, who has four red faces looking into different sides. He is usually depicted sitting in a resting position on a white or pink lotus. He lives on the majestic Mount Meru. His wife Saraswati is the patroness of the arts and sciences.

Indian god with the head of an elephant - Ganesha. He is considered one of the most popular mythical characters. His father was the god Shiva and his mother was the goddess Parvati. One is associated with him interesting legend, according to which he was originally wonderful child. Soon the gods came to congratulate the parents on the birth of their son and brought gifts with them. When they saw the baby, they all admired his beauty. The only one who did not look at him was the god Shani, who possessed the destructive power of his gaze. Despite this, Parvati insisted that he see her son. As soon as Shani looked at him, the child's head rolled and fell to the ground. Shiva tried to save the boy by putting it back, but it never grew back. Then Brahma advised his parents to exchange it for the head of the first animal that came their way. It turned out to be an elephant. In addition, the Indian god of wisdom Ganesha is the patron of travelers and merchants.

It is impossible to list the entire pantheon. Here are just a few of the most famous and revered deities:

● Indra is the guardian of the Eastern side of the world. He is the god of war and the ruler of Amaravati - one of the so-called lower heavens.

● Varuna is an all-seeing and punishing judge. He is the embodiment of truth and world order. It is he who searches for the guilty, punishes them, and also forgives their sins.

● Agni - Indian god of fire. He is the embodiment of the sacred flame, which with its tongues lifts the victim directly to heaven.

● Surya - illuminates the world with light, destroys darkness, disease and enemies. He personifies the all-seeing Eye of the gods Varuna, Mitra and Agni.

● Kama - is always depicted as a handsome young man with a bow and arrows. He is the patron saint of lovers and is similar to his European counterpart.

● Vayu is the lord of the wind, personifying the world's breath (prana).

● Yama is a rather fierce deity. He is the ruler of the kingdom of the dead and the ruler of Purgatory.

All of the above deities have great strength and power, but they all bow before the face of the great and terrifying Kali.

"Ramayana" and "Mahabharata"

The history of the Ancient World is inextricably linked with many myths and legends. But perhaps the most famous are the Indian epics “Ramayana” and “Mahabharata”, which were written in Sanskrit about 2 thousand years ago. Both poems belong to a genre called heroic epic. This means that the actions described in them are nothing more than historical legends, i.e. their content is based on events that actually happened. And this primarily applies to the epic “Mahabharta”. According to historians, it we're talking about about the internecine war that broke out between two branches of the royal family of the Bharata tribe somewhere at the turn of the 2nd-1st centuries BC. e.

The events on which the Ramayana is based are less clear to specialists. But it is still believed that there is a historical core here too. Scientists believe that this poem tells about the struggle of the conquerors of India, the Aryan tribes, with the indigenous population of the Indian south. These events may date back to the XIV-XII centuries BC. e.

This epic tells the story of the campaign of Rama, one of the most beloved heroes not only of India, but also of neighboring countries, to the island of Lanka (most likely modern Ceylon) and the search for his wife, who was kidnapped by the leader of the Rakshasa demons. The Ramayana consists of 24 thousand slokas (couplets), collected in seven books. In mythology, the Indian god Rama is the seventh incarnation of Vishnu. In this form, he delivers both people and gods from the power of the evil leader of the Rakshasas, Ravan.

In both monuments of ancient Indian poetry, allegory, truth and fiction are intertwined in an incomprehensible way. It is believed that the Ramayana came from the pen of Valmiki, and the Mahabharata - the sage Vyas. It is worth noting that in the form in which these works have come down to us, they cannot belong to any specific author or belong to only one century. These great epics are the result of numerous changes and additions.

The Legend of the Goddess - Mother of All Worlds

In ancient times, the asura Mahisha for a long time performed repentance and for this was awarded a gift that gave him the opportunity to become invisible. Then this demon decided to become the ruler of the world and overthrew Indra from the heavenly throne. The gods, who did not want to obey the fierce demon, went to the rulers of the world Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva and begged to save them from such humiliation.

From the lips of the angry triad, flames of anger burst out, uniting in a fiery cloud. Having illuminated the entire Universe with a menacing brilliance, a woman emerged from it. Her face was the flame of Shiva, her hands represented the power of Vishnu, and her belt represented the power of Indra. Her eyebrows were created by the divine twin brothers Asivina, her eyes were created by the lord of fire Agni, her ears were created by the windy Vayu, her teeth were created by Brahma, her hair was created by the lord of the kingdom of the dead Yama, and her hips were created by Prithivi, the goddess of the earth. The celestials gave her weapons: an ax and a trident, a bow and arrows, a noose and a club. This is how the goddess Kali arose.

A warlike and terrible cry escaped from the Mother’s lips, and she, riding a lion, rushed at the enemy. Thousands of warriors subordinate to Mahisha attacked her, but she easily repelled their attacks. Her breath created more and more new warriors who rushed into battle with fury. The formidable goddess stabbed the demons with a spear, chopped them with a sword, killed them with arrows, threw nooses around their necks and dragged them along with her.

From this great battle The sky darkened, the mountains shook and rivers of blood flowed. Several times the goddess Kali overtook Mahisha, but he always changed his appearance and left her. But finally, with a huge leap, she caught up with the demon and fell on him with unprecedented force. She stepped on his head with her foot and pinned him to the ground with a blow from her spear. Mahisha again tried to take on a different form and again elude the angry goddess. This time she got ahead of him and cut off his head with a sword.

Rejoicing at the victory, Kali began to dance. She moved faster and more impetuously. Everything around began to shake, causing the world to be threatened with complete destruction. The gods got scared and began to beg Shiva to stop the frantic dance of the Mother, but even he could not stop her. Then he lay down on the ground in front of her, but this did not help either. She continued her frantic dance, trampling his body with her feet until she realized everything that was happening. Only then did she stop.

The gods bowed to the Mother of all worlds. And she, tired from the battle, bloodied and now good-natured, promised to help them every time her support was needed. After this, the goddess hid in her impregnable temples to rest and enjoy her victory. The Eternal Mother of all things, she is responsible for everything, therefore she always remains in combat readiness.

Image

First of all, Kali is the goddess of death, so it is only natural that she looks menacing. She is usually depicted as a dark-skinned, thin, four-armed woman with unkempt long hair.

On the left side in top hand she clutches a sword covered in the blood of her enemies, destroying duality and all doubts; at the bottom is the severed head of a demon, which symbolizes the truncation of the ego. At the top right, her right hand makes a gesture that drives away fear. From below - blesses for the fulfillment of all desires. The hands of the goddess are a symbol of the four main chakras and cardinal directions.

The eyes of Kali control three main forces: creation, conservation and destruction. The belt she wears is made entirely of human hands, which means the inevitable action of karma. The blue or black color of her skin is a symbol of death, as well as eternal cosmic time.

The garland of skulls with which the goddess is adorned symbolizes a whole chain of human incarnations. Her necklace consists of exactly fifty parts, the same number of letters in Sanskrit - a storehouse of knowledge and power. Kali's tousled hair serves as a mysterious curtain of death enveloping the entire human life, and the bright red tongue is a symbol of the Rajas rune, as well as the energy of the Universe.

The Many Faces of Kali

This goddess has two sides: one destructive, the other creative. Under the face of Bhowani, she personifies the first of the principles. Therefore, she needs to sacrifice animals, as she draws her strength from living beings. Under the face of Durga she destroys evil. If someone decided to ask her for help in fighting demons, he must sacrifice a buffalo to her.

Goddess Kali is one of the forms of Durga or Devi, the wife of Shiva. She personifies the formidable side of her husband's divine energy. Kali has an unprecedented destructive force, and this is eloquently evidenced by many of her names, for example, Sri Krodhini (Universal Wrath), Sri Ugraprabha (Exuding Fury), Sri Naramandali (Wearing a Garland of Human Skulls).

It is surprising, but it is a fact that such a fierce goddess is considered a symbol of maternal love and care, and is also revered as the protector of the entire human race from evil. At the same time, she is called Sri Manorama (Supreme Divine Favor and Charm), Sri Vilasini (Ocean of Delight) and other similar flattering names.

Goddess cult

The worship of Kali was once widespread almost everywhere. Various people talk about this Scientific research, as well as documentary evidence, which are sacred texts belonging to different religions. The cult of the so-called Black Goddess had its analogues in all corners of the world in ancient times. For example, the ancient Finns in the pre-Christian era prayed to the Black Goddess, who was called Kalma. The Semitic tribes that once lived in Sinai called the priestesses of the moon goddess Kala. It is believed that these are not just coincidences, since the mythical character we are considering is the Mother of all worlds, who was revered under different names and shapes almost everywhere.

Now the Indian goddess Kali enjoys special recognition in Bengal as a slayer of demons. The fact is that on the territory of this state there is main temple Kalighata (the English pronounce its name as Calcutta), dedicated to her. This is where the name of the capital of Bengal comes from. The second largest temple erected in honor of this goddess is located in Dakshineswar.

The festival dedicated to Kali is celebrated in early September. During the ritual service, her admirers must drink three sips blessed water, and then apply a special mark with red powder between the eyebrows. Candles were lit at the image or at the foot of the statue of the goddess and red flowers were offered to her. After this, they read a prayer, and then, inhaling the fragrance of flowers, the believers sat down to taste the sacrificial offerings.

Thug sect

In the period from the 12th to the 19th centuries, there was a certain secret organization. It was called the Thug sect. It consisted of real fanatics who devoted their entire lives only to serving the goddess of death Kali. Thug gangs mainly operated in Central India. They were engaged in robbing caravans and killing travelers. Usually the Tugas strangled their victim by throwing a scarf or rope around her neck, and the corpse was thrown into a well or immediately buried using a ritual pick or hoe.

Until now, the exact number of their victims has not been established, but, according to the Guinness Book of Records, there were about 2 million. In the 30s of the 19th century, the then Governor-General of India, whose duties were performed by Lord William Bentinck, managed to put an end to the Thug sect through numerous arrests and subsequent executions. Since then in English language The word thugs appeared, meaning “thug”, “robber”, “killer”.

Misperception

In the West there are cults of satanic and mystical directions. They not only misperceive, but also describe the Black Goddess by comparing her to the Egyptian deity Set. She is depicted as merciless killer and a cruel bloodsucker who eats the flesh of her many victims.

Goddess Kali has countless forms, images and incarnations. She is always mysterious and can be both terrifying and attractive. She disturbs the soul, and her faces leave no one indifferent. Kali has absorbed all conceivable manifestations and forms of the divine principle - from the angry and downright terrifying to the most attractive and merciful.

Cali

Cali(translated from Sanskrit - “black”) - dark and evil hypostasis, dark Shakti and destructive side. Indian goddess death, destruction, fear and horror, destroys ignorance, establishes world order, liberates and blesses those who seek to know God. Her name in the sacred is associated with the god of fire ().

The name Kali is first found in Ri-gveda. Also known as Kalikamata(“black earth mother”), Kalarati(“black night”), among the Tamils - as Cottraway. Kalike, Kalika- a form of the name Kali.

Outwardly, the goddess Kali always looks very intimidating. Depicted as a thin, four-armed woman with blue skin and long tousled hair, which forms a mysterious curtain of death that envelops all life. Usually naked or dressed in panther skin. In her upper left hand she holds a bloody sword, destroying doubt and duality, in her lower left hand she holds a demon's head, symbolizing the cutting off of the ego. Upper right hand she makes a protective gesture that drives away fear, while with her lower right hand she blesses for the fulfillment of all desires. Four arms symbolize the 4 cardinal directions and 4 main chakras.

Creation, preservation and destruction are governed by the three eyes of the goddess. Kali corresponds to three times: past, present and future. A belt made of human hands, which is draped over the goddess, signifies the powerful and inexorable action of karma.

Its dark blue color is the color of endless cosmic, eternal time, as well as death. This symbolism draws attention to the superiority of Kali over the mortal realm. Black color means only the pure, unclouded consciousness of a person.

The garland of skulls with which she is decorated signifies the succession of human incarnations and shows her ability to free the mind from identifying itself with the body. This garland symbolizes wisdom and strength. There are exactly 50 skulls - according to the number of letters of the Sanskrit alphabet. The goddess stands on a corpse, which only confirms the transitory nature of the physical body.

The blood red tongue symbolizes the rajas guna, kinetic energy universe, symbolized by the color red.

Kali is a many-faced Goddess who presides over life from the moment of conception to death. It symbolizes the cosmic power of eternal time.

At the cosmic level, Kali is associated with the elements of air or wind, vayu, prana. This force fills the universe as the energy of transformation. It acts quickly and leaves no traces behind, causing radical changes. Kali is the perception of the lightning of truth, negating all illusions. She embodies creation, preservation and destruction, and evokes both love and horror.

There are hundreds of gods and goddesses in the Indian pantheon. Some are white, like the breast of a swan, others are red, as if they plowed from dawn to dawn under the fierce summer sun, and others are completely black, like coal - and all of them keep the world and the fate of nations in harmony. This Brahma, the lord of existence, sits in a pose of rest, looking at the sky with all four red faces, and his eight arms are lowered along his body, he lives on The greatest mountain Meru, and moves astride a swan.

All these gods bow down to Great Kali. Who is this Cali?Cali-This Mother of all worlds and creatures who have already saved peace and order twice.

In hoary times, asuras, evil demons, enemies of people and gods, found themselves a merciless leader Mahishu with the head of a buffalo and in a fierce battle that lasted a hundred years without a break, they defeated the gods. And even though the greatest Indra, all the same, they were defeated and thrown out of heaven. Then, by the way, the gods learned what it was like to live for people, for they wandered the earth like mere mortals, and it was just as difficult to earn their daily bread. Villain Mahisha cackled over them, reigning in the sky. The gods came out in impotent anger, their mouths spewed tongues of flame and a huge fiery cloud appeared - a cloud of anger and thirst for vengeance, hanging over Universe And suddenly this cloud took shape and she, Kali, the woman of vengeance, appeared from it.

Shiva

Flame Shiva became her face. The god of death Yama turned into her hair. The lord of the sun created her hands. The god of the moon - her chest. The power of the thunderer strengthened her lower back. The terrible judge strengthened her legs with his flame. The goddess of the earth settled in her hips. The god lived in her heels sun. In the teeth - supreme god Brahma. In the eyes is the god of fire. In the eyebrows are the twin brothers, the lords of morning and evening twilight. In the nose is the lord of wealth and the lord of mountain spirits. In the ears is the fleet-footed god of the wind. And what did she look like? Cali?Great German writer Thomas Mann, retelling an ancient Indian legend, made a portrait Cali“The statue of Kali inspired horror. From under the stone arch of the arch, entwined with garlands of skulls and severed hands, protruded an idol, painted with paints, girded and crowned with bones and limbs living beings, in the frantic rotation of his eighteen arms.

Waving swords and torches Mother, the blood was smoking in the skull, which one of her hands was bringing to her lips like a cup, the blood at her feet was pouring like a river. Cali The one who inspires terror stood in a canoe sailing on the sea of life, on the sea of blood. Animal heads with open glassy eyes, about five or six heads of buffalo, pigs and goats were stacked in a pyramid on the altar, and her sword, which cut them off, was sharp and shiny , although stained with dried blood, lay a little further away, on stone slabs.

The fierce, goggle-eyed face of the Bringer of Death and the Giver of Life, the frantic, whirlwind movement of her hands..."

The defeated gods gave Cali all her magical weapons, and now in her hands were a trident, and a battle disc, and a spear, and a rod, and rays, and an ax, and the gods thought that she did not have enough hands to take all the weapons, but for everything, there were enough hands for everything Eternal Mother! She sat tightly on the ferocious mountain lion, reined him in, and finally grabbed another cup of wine - and drove off Cali She let out a roar, not a roar, a cry, not a cry, a cry, not a cry, but only the mountains shook and the earth shook, and the lion carried her into battle.

But also Mahisha was strong, and his army was countless, thousands of thousands, and all at once, en masse attacked Cali,Kaliyuga, as she now called herself. Horses and riders, chariots and archers, elephants and rams - everything fell on her. Mother endured the first blow and spurred the lion. He himself was a bundle of flame, he bit and burned, trampled and tore, swept with his mane and knocked down with his paw. And the mistress, calmly sitting on him, exhaled as if extinguishing the flame of a candle. And from her breath arose thousands of warriors and her assistants.

And everywhere it rushed Mother Streams of enemy, demonic blood flowed.

Mahisha, however, he had not yet entered into battle; he kept thinking that his squad could cope without him. But then he realized: things were bad, and he roared, and kicked his hooves, and twirled his tail, and rushed across the field, burning everything in his path.

Look at the power he had: he would hit the ocean with his tail, and it would splash out onto the shore in fear; he would throw up his buffalo muzzle, and his horns would tear the clouds apart; he would roar, and inaccessible mountains would turn into sand.

A goddess spat on her palms and threw it onMahishua magic loop, and then the leapfrog began, StillMahishawas not only terrible, but also smart: he turned into a lion and slipped out of the noose. But also Mother was patient: she swung the sword of time and cut off the animal’s head. But just a fraction of a second before complete deathM ahisha managed to turn into a man - and he was struck down Cali, and the man became an elephant, and an elephant buffalo, Mother she was stubborn - she chopped trunks, pulled out horns, and when she was disgusted with the endless transformations Mahishi, she took a sip from a goblet of wine and laughed madly, her eyes flared up with a mischievous sparkle; between peals of thunderous laughter she shouted again Mahishi: "Roar, you crazy one, while I drink wine!" - and jumped up like a witch, and fell on the demon, and crushed him, continuing to laugh, so that the crushed one could not turn into anything else. Cali launched a spear, waiting for the demon's last trick. He wanted to jump out of his own vile mouth, but Mother of the World was ready and quickly cut off his head. Gods bowed before Eternal Mother, and she - tired, bloodied and good-natured now, after such a difficult victory, said to the gods: - whenever danger threatens, great trouble, O celestials, call on me, and I will come to your aid. And having said this, she disappeared in their inaccessible temples, in order to lick their wounds and so as not to relent in the hangover of victory and to be in constant combat readiness. How can she not be formidable and terrible if evil demons, taking advantage of the carelessness of the gods, constantly threaten to destroy the world order? Mother of all things, she is responsible for everything, and she better to know in what guise to meet the enemy. Note, by the way: in her terrible guise she appeared only after the battle, and how she Peaceful time looks - no one even thought about it. And they forgot about it. It became unnecessary. Only southern peasant women India and remembered her, making their way through impassable thickets, coming to inaccessible temples Mothers and bringing sacrifices to her: a kid, various fruits, wine.
Peace on earth. Kama-god of love frolics and his victims are happy. Carelessness all around. But demons do not sleep. A new strength has grown in their camp - brothers Shumbha And Nishumbha. And these brothers have such power that Mahisha I would be jealous. And it began new war gods and demons. The broken gods took refuge in the mountains, where it falls from the sky sacred Ganges and begin their earthly life. There is nowhere else to hide. That's when they remembered Mother of existence.
They began to call for help Great Goddess. The gods waited for a long time and were taken aback when they saw that she had not appeared from the dense forests. fierce Mother, and near waters of the Ganges appeared gentle Uma, as beautiful as she is defenseless. The gods were saddened: they needed the wrong woman now. And then a miracle happened. Body beautiful Uma as if it split into two, she is tender and beautiful, she remained right there, but next to her, she arose from her The inevitable mother Kali. She appeared and said:
-It is me who is glorified and called upon by the gods, who are again being pressed by demons. Me, great Kali, they call. Me, an angry and merciless warrior. But know my spirit is enclosed, like a second self, in a body gentle Uma .Harsh Kali And lovely Uma, we are two beginnings of one, two faces Great Goddess...
Who speaks carelessly about me, ferocious Kali, he will turn away from that Uma;who will insult Mind you, will deal with me, the Fierce...

Goddess Uma
So far one face Great Mother lived in inaccessible temples, training her spirit for a merciless fight against evil, her other face lived in clarity and bliss, in beauty and softness, in affection and charm. What does it look like goddess Uma ? Thomas Mann This is how he describes it:
“A young girl stood at a secluded place of reunion, about to begin the pious ritual. She left her sari on the steps of the descent and stood completely naked, wearing only a necklace, earrings with swinging pendants and a white bandage on her high, lush hair. The beauty of her body was dazzling. It all seemed to consist of seductions May and and it was a charming color, not too dark, but not too light in shade, rather reminiscent of gilded copper, marvelous, with the sweetly fragile shoulders of a child and delightfully convex hips, from which her flat stomach seemed to expand in width, with girlish, full-bodied breasts and a lush, convex backside, tapering upward and slenderly turning into a gentle narrow back, slightly concave when she raised her vine-like hands and closed them on the back of her head so that the dark hollows of her armpits became visible. Not only her body, but also her face was between the swinging pendants lovely. Nose, lips, eyebrows and elongated eyes, like a lotus petal..." Yes, good Uma; when she inhabits the body of a mortal, she becomes just that.
Kali black- like anger, like rage, like the sun-damaged face of an old peasant woman.
Uma white, so soft.
Cali dressed in panther skin and wearing a necklace of skulls around her neck.
Uma in a snow-white sari and sandals made of flower pollen, bells sound on her feet.
What do they have in common? And what they have in common is that Cali protects and protects peace and happiness Minds,A Uma needed Cali so that generations are born that Cali will protect you from demons. She's beautiful, this one Uma, she is omnipotent, this one Cali- and she is one whole.
She is the focus of all the love spilled in the world. She is love carnal, rough, and she is endless Mother’s love, she is compassion and hope, that’s why they come to her as Mother Intercessor We didn't invent this world. You must not only be born into it, but also survive and live, and for this you must be able to protect yourself and protect everything you love, and Dark Mother loves all living things and hates all demonic scum.
Won Cali and demons- brothers Shumbhu and Nishumbhu.
Well, after the battle again into the dark forests. Again, one of her faces frightens, but her other face delights and basks in love and joy.
The Eternal Mother is on guard, she will not close her eyelids, she will not let you die, and everything will be okay.
And everything will always be.
And all will be well.
