Portable power tool inspection and testing log. Inspection and testing of hand-held power tools

The term “electrical equipment” means any equipment intended for:

    production;

    transformations;

    transfers;

    distribution or consumption of electricity.

For example: machines, transformers, apparatus, measuring instruments, protection devices, cable products, electrical receivers, etc.

Equipment check

Equipment testing can be scheduled, periodic or unscheduled.

Scheduled periodic inspections are carried out at least once every six months. Unscheduled - after equipment repair or in case of accidents and emergencies.

Tests are carried out using special instruments. Therefore, most often the inspection is carried out in an electrical laboratory. In some cases, specialists may travel to the location of the equipment.

If the enterprise does not have such a laboratory, then the instrument is checked in licensed organizations that have necessary equipment. The data established during the inspection is entered into the journal.

Rules for filling out and maintaining a document

The accounting log should list all electrical equipment available in the organization, indicating characteristics and inventory numbers. It is accompanied by instructions, technical data sheets, certificates, test reports, measurements, repairs and maintenance.

Form of this document regulatory documents not approved and therefore may be arbitrary. It is filled out by the employee responsible for the safety of electrical equipment at the enterprise. At the same time, a second document can be kept - a logbook for recording checks of grounding of electrical equipment, the need to fill out which is stipulated by the Safety Rules for the construction of underground structures, approved by the Resolution of the State Mining and Technical Supervision of the Russian Federation dated 02.11.01. Its form can be found in Appendix No. 27.

The pages of the document are stitched, numbered and certified with the seal of the enterprise. The head of the organization and the employee responsible for electrical safety at the enterprise also put their signature.

The log contains the following columns:

    entry number;

    name of the instrument;

    inventory number;

    date of last test;

    reason for the inspection (scheduled or unscheduled);

    date and result of the high voltage insulation test;

    date and result of insulation resistance measurement;

    date and result of the grounding test;

    data on external inspection of equipment and testing of idle operation;

    time of the next scheduled inspection;

  • Full name and signature of the specialist who conducted the inspection.

Failure to comply even with simple rules on safety. This is especially true for electricity. Even experienced electricians who have accumulated considerable experience become victims. And a high electrical safety group.

At the enterprise, regardless of the type of activity, there must be a person who manages electrical facilities. Such specialists are responsible for maintaining reporting documentation and organizing testing and measuring activities.

Portable power tools include:

  • Lamps without a stable base.
  • Extension adapters for electricity.
  • Electrified mechanisms without fastening with a permanent foundation
  • Grinding and polishing machines.
  • Planers, drills, impact wrenches

First you need to conduct tests, and then record their results inspection and testing of power tools.

To begin with, create a special serial number– it is assigned to all tools and lamps on a portable basis. To write it on the body, coloring compounds or markers are used. The number is applied where mechanical influences are not so active.

Electrical tool testing: established frequency and right to conduct

Once every six months is the minimum period for conducting inspections. Events with greater frequency are allowed.

Carrying out inspections without special instruments is unacceptable. They are becoming an integral part of modern electrical laboratories. To carry out the work on their own, management must have such a laboratory available.

In the absence of the necessary funds, it is possible to turn to third-party providers. In this case, the main requirement is the presence of an official license, otherwise specialists do not have the right to conduct inspections. Such responsible persons must have an electrical safety group of at least 3.

Contents of the logbook for recording, checking and testing power tools

The columns in the log contain information about:

  1. Person responsible for inspection and testing.
  2. The date when the next inspection will be carried out.
  3. Tests without loads, inspection of appearance.
  4. Checking the serviceability of the grounding circuit.
  5. Based on measurements of the resistance of insulating material
  6. Reasons for testing and inspections
  7. Dates of last events
  8. Inventory type number
  9. Names of power tools

Procedure for filling out the journal

Each column is filled in in its own order:

  1. The names of the instruments must exactly correspond to the information specified in the passport. It is not just the name of the instrument that is written, but the exact designation of the model. As for inventory numbers, the procedure for assigning them was discussed above. The main requirement is the absence of errors.
  2. Be sure to write about the time when the previous test of the power tool was completed. Usually such information is one of the columns of the journal. In the passport, manufacturers write about factory tests.

There are only two reasons for checking. Either the deadline for the event has come, or additional testing is necessary due to the repairs carried out.

Idle check

External inspection of the instrument is the first step in any inspection:

  • The inspection begins with the body of the instrument. Dirt, chips and cracks are not acceptable.
  • Let's move on to a thorough inspection of the fork. The pins should be secured as tightly as possible in the housing. Mounting screws require checking if there is a dismountable housing. Screw connections are tightened with a screwdriver. The integrity of the case deserves special attention.
  • The power cable is checked for flexibility. Broken, twisted, or cracked cable surfaces preclude purchase. A separate inspection is carried out for the places where the fork and body parts are attached to others. Violations of double insulation are unacceptable.

How to check the device at idle speed?

Just click the “Start” button to connect the tool to the network. There is no load during testing. Several factors deserve attention:

  1. Is there sparking when starting?
  2. Are rotating parts hitting each other or other places?
  3. Doesn't it smell like the insulation is burnt?
  4. Is there any extraneous noise in the engine?
  5. Smooth pressing of “Start”.

In the logbook for recording, checking and testing the power tool, the person in charge writes when the test was carried out and the result that was achieved. The result can be unsatisfactory or satisfactory.

The procedure for checking the operation of the device at idle speed.

Insulation resistance: how is it measured?

A megaohmmeter will become an indispensable assistant during the procedure. The device has a set of requirements:

  1. Devices are purchased without mechanical defects or contaminated elements.
  2. The date for the next inspection has not expired.
  3. The output voltage reaches up to a thousand volts.

The measurement is easily carried out by two people from the team. Electrical safety group 3 is required for one. Before working with the device, it is checked.

We fasten the terminals with a short connection. After this, we proceed to rotating the handle. And they do this until the needle on the scale stops at zero. The leads are then disconnected and the handle is rotated again. If everything is normal, the arrow deviates towards the infinity symbol.

Measurements are carried out in this order:

  1. The pins of the plug in the power tool being tested are connected to the output elements in the device. Contact between the ends of the terminals must not be allowed. Megaohmmeters are different, depending on this, either the button is used for 1 minute, or the lever is rotated. After this, the device readings are recorded and the measurement stops. The leads are disconnected.
  2. One terminal is fixed on the pin of the plug. The second is attached to a metal body part. This measurement is also carried out in 1 minute. Finish the work in the same way as in the previous case.
  3. The pin connects to another pin on the plug in the tool. And again we wait one minute, then we take readings.

Did the measured value show more than 0.5 Mohm? The measurement results are considered normal. The instrument being tested is rejected if a smaller value falls out during at least one of the measurements.

The test result is considered satisfactory when all measurements show approximately the same result.

Grounding circuit: how to check its serviceability?

This test is required for power tools with grounding plugs. The check is needed to ensure the integrity of the grounding circuit. Situations when the instrument readings are close to zero are considered ideal.

The device has its own requirements:

  1. The case is free of defects and dirt
  2. The next inspection took place recently

One person can complete the check. First, the ohmmeter is tested for performance. It is enough to turn on the device and short-circuit the terminals between each other. In this position the arrow points to zero. And it approaches the infinity symbol if the contacts are opened.

During testing, one of the terminals is connected to the body metal part, and the other is connected to the grounding fork on the tool. All that remains is to turn on the device and record its readings.

If the device readings always tend to infinity, this is a sign of a malfunction. The tool cannot be used in the future.

When should the next inspections and tests be carried out?

It has already been said that any Sometimes there is a need to check more frequently than once every six months. This is important if the portable tool is used actively. The person in charge of electrical engineering is responsible for setting deadlines.

How is it determined new date? Six months are added to the current one. After this, the entry is made in the logbook for recording, checking and testing the power tool, making a note.

Professional use of power tools

The main thing for enterprises is to organize a clear system for recording such instruments. An employee of the enterprise is appointed responsible, for which a separate decree is issued. He enters information into the journal using the established form.

The issuing and receiving employees jointly conduct the ongoing check. The steps remain the same in both cases. Any detected malfunctions are officially recorded. Then measures are taken to eliminate them.

If there are only a few power tools, and each of them is assigned a separate employee, he will check the functionality and compliance with all requirements. The use of the tool is unacceptable if the integrity of the housing, plug or wires is damaged. But scheduled checks cannot be assigned to free employees.

To do this, electricians must have the appropriate clearance group. You cannot do without the appropriate skill in carrying out electrical installation work.

What to do with appliances at home?

The previously stated standards and requirements relate to the professional sphere and are mandatory for managers and employees of large industrial enterprises. When it comes to maintaining common household appliances at home, the owners of the tools remain responsible.

This is where common sense comes to the fore. He will speak about the inadmissibility of using faulty electrical appliances in everyday life. It is always recommended to check tools before using them.

Checks require the integrity of the case, the quality of the fastenings, and damage to the power cable. When use is completed, the device is prepared for further storage. If the tool is stored longer, it is recommended to simply turn on the tools at least once every six months, without any load.

At home, testing is organized according to the same rules as for professionals. The difference is in the time period; for living conditions it is permissible to exceed the six-month norm. For many devices, a one-time annual inspection is sufficient.

The decrease in initial quality is caused by aging and wear of the materials used to make the tool. A decrease in insulation resistance occurs for the same reason. Thanks to this, everyone can detect this problem in time.

Separate requirements are being developed for highly energy-intensive devices. SNiP insist that they require inspection at least once every ten days. This applies to devices used in the construction industry. If the tool does not match minimum requirements for operation - it is withdrawn from service.

It is better to turn to electricians who test devices at idle in practice. Some of them work with machines that are classified as heavy equipment. Power tools are stored in dry rooms, away from moisture and light. Drawers and shelves will ensure maximum safety. In the power tool passport, storage requirements are indicated separately.

Any construction and repair cannot be done without hand tools; this simplifies and speeds up its implementation. In this case, portable power tools are most often used as the most reliable and mobile. Electrical energy one of the most common around the world, it is used in both domestic and industrial environments. However, not every master knows that electric tools must be checked regularly so that they do not cause an accident involving injury to a person. electric shock or explosion (fire) when working in dangerous fire conditions. In this article we will tell you how to check a power tool, how often it should be done and who should do this type of work.

Electrical safety classification of power tools

When operating an electric tool, you should know that, according to the current GOST, it is divided into several protection classes. The inspection of portable power tools, its frequency and methodology directly depend on this.

  • 0 - has only working insulation without grounding devices and connections;
  • 01 - there is working insulation and a grounding element, but the cord itself with which the tool is equipped does not have a grounding wire;
  • 1 - has working insulation and a grounding element, which is connected through a cable having a corresponding terminal;
  • 2 - equipped with double insulation, that is, electrical wiring and live parts are insulated, and the housing is made of dielectric material;
  • 3 - this class of power tools is connected to a low safe voltage - no more than 42 Volts, and the devices are not subject to grounding.

Most often, in everyday life and at the enterprise, workers use class 2 power tools, since they have sufficient insulation so that a person is not injured.

Tool checking method

It is allowed to use household and industrial power tools, verified. For this, a clear algorithm has been developed that must be followed by everyone who wants to work with it. In this case, you need to clearly understand the difference between verification and verification.

Verification- these are tests that are carried out in special laboratories located at every large enterprise. The tests include:

  1. Determining the presence and serviceability of the grounding circuit by using a special ohmmeter - one end of the device is connected to the terminal on the plug, and the other to the ground located on the tool itself. Measurements should show no more than 0.5 Ohm, which satisfies the safety conditions for using the tool.
  2. Measurement for the integrity and quality of insulation is checked with a megohmmeter at a voltage of no more than 500 V for a power tool designed for an operating voltage of 220 V. You don’t have to turn it quickly, this will be enough to see the insulation resistance of the tool. In this case, be sure to remember to press the button that turns on the electric tool. The device must show an insulation resistance of more than 500 kOhm; if this value is less, working with it is prohibited.
  3. Next, a trial test is carried out while idling for 5–7 minutes.

Power tools can also be tested with increased voltage. In this case, a tool with a voltage of up to 50 Volts is tested with a test voltage of 550 V. If the tool is designed for a voltage above 50 V, but with a power of up to 1 kW, the test voltage should be 900 V, above 1 kW - 1350 V. Tests are carried out within 1 minutes.

Examination- carried out through visual control and inspection. You need to check not only the housing, but also the cord connecting it to the power source. You need to pay attention to:

  1. The integrity of the body, there may be cracks and breaks.
  2. The power cable should not show any visible drying out, damage, chafing, or signs of burning or heating. Special attention It is worth paying attention and checking the places where the electrical cord enters the housing and the plug.
  3. The plug and its contact part, which will be connected to the network, are inspected and checked for integrity.

The check must be performed before starting work, and before switching on after switching to another workplace. Naturally, professional laboratory verification is carried out only at large enterprises and firms; in everyday conditions, a worker should at least carefully inspect the power tool he picks up before work.

If we talk about the timing of the verification of power tools, then according to existing regulatory rules, periodic verification of the tool should be no less than every year, and it is necessary to check the power tool, as indicated earlier, before each use. If manual electrical equipment is used in extreme climatic and production conditions, it is recommended to check it with a megohmmeter at least once every 10 days.

Important point! When checking a tool at a factory, the first thing you need to look at is the date of the test. If the date has expired or there is no testing tag on the power tool at all, then it is prohibited to operate it - it must be removed and submitted for testing.

Registration and accounting of inspection

Power tools used in enterprises for professional purposes must be numbered and entered into a logbook. The management of the enterprise and structural unit It is necessary to organize clear records of storage, operation and testing of manual electrical equipment. All necessary information is recorded in a specially prepared journal, and based on the results of the inspection and verification, a corresponding protocol is issued. And also a mandatory measure to ensure the safe operation of this equipment is qualified instruction of personnel with a knowledge test, in which the verification methods, as well as the rules for using it, are announced for signature. One of the important criteria for inspection and safe operation is the use of auxiliary equipment, such as carriers and extension cords. They also need to be checked once a year, and ensuring this is the direct responsibility of the person responsible for electrical equipment.
