Baking soda: benefits and harm to the human body

Almost all of us have sodium bicarbonate “living” in our kitchen. Housewives know a hundred and one recipes for using it for household needs and as a culinary ingredient. We invite you to look at soda from a different perspective. What are the benefits and harms of it for health? Can soda be used for treatment and what exactly?

For medicine, go to the kitchen. How does soda affect the body?

Recently, the theory that the cause of all health problems (including oncology) is the “acidification” of the body has gained wide popularity. This has sparked increased interest in baking soda. Its benefits and harms are discussed on numerous talk shows.

Sodium bicarbonate is a weak alkali. It effectively neutralizes acids, increases the body's alkaline reserves and maintains acid-base balance. The pH value should be kept between 7.35 and 7.47. If this value drops below 6.8, which indicates severe acidosis, the body dies.

Today, the problem of acidic blood is relevant for most people. When the pH drops below 7.25, it is necessary to undergo alkaline therapy - take soda in an amount of 5 to 40 g per day.

The beneficial effects of soda, confirmed by practice:

Important! When taking soda, it is important to follow this rule: you need to start with 1/5 teaspoon (dissolving in 250 ml of water) twice a day. Then gradually increase the daily dosage to 1/2 tsp. You should drink soda in a course of 1-2 weeks. Use the solution only when warm.

The boomerang effect and other dangerous consequences of soda therapy

Taking such an aggressive ingredient requires great caution, otherwise there will be serious health problems. It can damage the mucous membranes of the digestive tract (even cause ulcers). Do not forget that when in contact with liquid, soda releases carbon dioxide. Therefore, such treatment will be accompanied by increased gas formation and bloating.

Important! The composition should be prepared as follows: pour sodium bicarbonate 0.5 tbsp. boiling water, stir, add another 125 ml of chilled water. If you drink a cold solution, you may experience diarrhea!

If ingested in excessive quantities, baking soda can have the opposite effect. The acidity will first decrease and then rise sharply. This will make your heartburn worse.

Contraindications to the use of soda orally:

  • intolerance to this chemical composition;
  • high acidity of gastric secretions;
  • gastrointestinal diseases in the acute stage;
  • ulcer;
  • pregnancy;
  • chronic renal failure;
  • cancer at stages 3 and 4, although there is a special method of treating oncology (even the last stage) with sodium bicarbonate, developed by the Italian doctor Tulio Simoncini.

Contraindications to the use of soda externally (in the form of hot baths):

  • diabetes;
  • high blood pressure;
  • vascular and heart diseases;
  • neoplasms;
  • exacerbation of dermatological disease;
  • open wounds;
