I really like the Calla cheese appetizer, a recipe with a photo of which I offer. Very often it becomes one of the main decorations of a family or dinner party. The preparation of the appetizer is very simple, I will be happy to share the recipe and method of presentation.

My mother always says: “A beautifully decorated table is half the success of a holiday dinner.” And this, according to her, is not only an exquisite tablecloth, dishes and napkins to match, but also the presentation of the dishes themselves.

My mother instilled in me a love of decorating. I completely agree with her opinion, therefore, when preparing for any holiday, from time to time I carefully think through the menu, focusing on the original presentation of even the most ordinary dishes.

Much depends on the occasion for which the table is set, and on the preferences of the guests, and even on the time of year. For example, in spring or summer, I want to add more greens, vegetables and fruits to my dishes, make all kinds of patterns, floral arrangements, and the processed cheese snack “Callies” is one of my favorites.

Ingredients:

- 8 square slices of processed cheese,
- 50 g hard cheese,
- 2 eggs,
- 1 clove of garlic,
- mayonnaise to taste,
- Korean carrots,
- green onions for decoration.

How to cook with photos step by step

1. Boil the eggs hard, let them cool, peel them and grate them on a fine grater.

2. Also grate hard cheese on a fine grater. Add to eggs.

3. Add garlic, chopped on a fine grater or using a garlic press, to the eggs and cheese. Season with a spoon of mayonnaise. Instead of mayonnaise, you can use sour cream or natural yogurt. Mix all ingredients thoroughly.

4. Place the square cheese slice in the shape of a diamond. Place a spoonful of filling in the middle of a slice of processed cheese.

5. Fold the edges of the cheese slice towards the middle, forming a calla lily. We do the same with the remaining slices.

6. Place the resulting flowers on a large flat dish in the form of a bouquet. We decorate the cheese calla lilies with Korean carrots; if you don’t have them on hand, then raw ones will do. We make stems from a bunch of green onions or any other greenery. The spectacular cheese appetizer “Callies” is ready, we will certainly place it in the middle of the festive table. With a bouquet like this, you don’t even need real flowers!

It turns out even more interesting and chic

From "Holiday World":

As we can see from the recipes and photos, making calla lilies from cheese is not at all difficult, but what an effect! In principle, the filling can be anything, the main thing is that all the components are small, then the flowers will look beautiful and neat. The best grinding option is a grater. In addition to the salad filling, you can use any pate or mixture (for example, grated egg + butter + chopped herbs). For the core, you can use not only carrots and bell peppers, but also sausage, pineapple, apple, a tangerine slice, cucumber, corn (small canned cobs), a slice of red fish or crab stick (colored side out) - in general, there are also many options, especially since not everyone likes bell peppers or boiled carrots, and fruit additives add piquancy to salads and appetizers.

A similar appetizer can also be prepared from sausage, thinly sliced meat or fish, rolled crab sticks, boiled squid and even thin pancakes, - it will also be beautiful and tasty.

Whether to serve edible “Calla lilies” as a separate appetizer or decorate a salad with “flowers” is a matter of taste and chance. When decorating the dish, you can create the most luxurious composition by adding “tulips” from stuffed tomatoes, “mimosa” from corn, vegetable flowers and leaves and berries of lingonberries or cranberries and green peas scattered over dill (a sort of “asparagus”).

But as you fly with imagination and creative enthusiasm, don’t forget about one small problem: the cheese “calla lilies” easily unfold, since they are not held together by anything, so they can easily fall apart when your guests try to transfer the appetizer to their plate. Since the “flowers” turn out to be quite large, a spoon or fork will not help here. But a cake spatula would work very well.))

If you are preparing an appetizer for a buffet table, then “calla lilies” can be placed on large crackers or slices of bread, attached to the “base” with a piece of butter, or placed in tartlets in the style of a flower basket and complemented with various edible decorations.

You can also decorate a meat, fish or cheese plate with calla lilies, preparing an appetizer from the appropriate products, or decorate a sandwich cake, pate, aspic and other cold dishes for the holiday table.

We will prepare festive calla lilies on toast - everyone will like this portioned holiday snack. The second option for preparing the “Calla” appetizer is without croutons, but can be served on lettuce leaves, which will further decorate the dish. On toast, calla lilies are more likely to be appreciated by those who like to eat hearty food. Therefore, friends, the choice is yours, which depends, first of all, on your preferences and the preferences of your guests.

By the way, any cheese is suitable - hard cheese cut into thin slices or processed sandwich cheese, which is sold in individual packages. This kind of cheese holds its shape better in an appetizer, so it’s better to use it. So let's begin.

Ingredients for Calla lilies appetizer

  • crab sticks – 100 g;
  • eggs – 3 pcs.;
  • small cucumber (salted or fresh) – 1 pc.;
  • small carrots - 1 pc.;
  • cheese for toast - 2 packages (16 pieces);
  • mayonnaise – 70 g;
  • loaf - 8 slices;
  • sunflower oil – 20 ml;
  • green onions, dill;
  • garlic (optional) – 2 cloves.

How to prepare Calla lilies appetizer from processed cheese and crab sticks

Before preparing the snack, remove the cheese from the refrigerator. Boil eggs and carrots. While they are cooking, you can prepare the croutons. To do this, each piece of loaf must be cut diagonally in half. Pour sunflower oil into the frying pan and, when it is hot, add pieces of loaf. Fry them on one side until golden brown. To remove excess oil from croutons, you can blot with a paper towel.

Cut hard-boiled eggs into small cubes, and carrots into thin strips.

Finely chop the crab sticks and cucumber.

Combine eggs, crab sticks, cucumber and season with mayonnaise. Mix everything.

Take 1 piece of cheese and place 1-1.5 teaspoons of filling on it. Place a piece of carrot in the center. Then fold the corners of the cheese and fold it into a flower shape.

Place the finished calla flower on the fried side. To give the appetizer a sharper taste, each crouton can be pre-rubbed with garlic (on the fried side). Decorate the dish with herbs and serve.

We wish you bon appetit!

Festive appetizer "Callies" made of processed cheese with tomatoes

Laid out on a platter in the shape of a bright and touching flower, this Calla Lilies appetizer cannot fail to attract attention. The cheese and tomato appetizer will fully fulfill its purpose, which is to surprise and delight the guests present at the table.

Ingredients:

- fresh tomatoes - 1-2 pcs.;

- garlic - 1 clove;

- processed cheese (in plates) - 1 pack;

- mayonnaise - 100 g;

- sprigs of dill

Preparation

Store-bought slices of processed cheese must be cut diagonally into two triangles.

Each of the resulting triangles must be rolled into a ball.

We wash fresh tomatoes under clean running water. Dry them. Cut the tomatoes into thin slices.

Mix 100 g of mayonnaise with crushed garlic clove.

We fill the cheese rolls that we prepared earlier with a mixture of garlic and mayonnaise. Place a slice of fresh tomato in the middle of the composition.

The most important thing remains - to form a beautiful and original Calla Lilies appetizer on a platter. To do this, take dill sprigs, rinse under water and dry. Place dill sprigs in the center on a flat oval or round dish. We place balls of processed cheese on the sides of dill sprigs on both sides. As a result, we get a delicate and beautiful flower.

Our appetizer is ready! The appetizer in the shape of a Calla lily flower looks very delicate, its color scheme is calm, but not without accents in the form of fresh red tomatoes. The appetizer does not look too messy, since it contains only three colors - milky, green and red, which creates a feeling of touching and tenderness. Well, the taste of the snack matches its appearance. Delicate processed cheese with a fresh tomato taste just melts in your mouth. And the flavor of this wonderful snack is accentuated by the garlic contained in the ingredients. And what is another advantage of the processed cheese snack is that it is prepared in record time. This allows you not to spend a lot of time on its preparation, saving it for other purposes. After all, as a rule, there is a lot more that needs to be done when preparing a festive dinner.
Bon appetit.
