Pharmacological properties:

Pharmacodynamics.
Mexidol is an inhibitor of free radical processes, a membrane protector with antihypoxic, stress-protective, nootropic, anticonvulsant and anxiolytic effects. The drug increases the body's resistance to the effects of various damaging factors (shock, hypoxia and ischemia, cerebrovascular accidents, intoxication with alcohol and antipsychotics (neuroleptics)). The mechanism of action of Mexidol is due to its antioxidant, antihypoxic and membrane protective effects. It inhibits lipid peroxidation, increases the activity of superoxide dismutase, increases the lipid-protein ratio, reduces membrane viscosity, and increases its fluidity. Mexidol modulates the activity of membrane-bound enzymes (calcium independent phosphodiesterase, adenylate cyclase, acetylcholinesterase), receptor complexes (benzodiazepine, GABA, acetylcholine), which enhances their ability to bind to ligands, helps preserve the structural and functional organization of biomembranes, neurotransmitter transport and improve synaptic transmission. Mexidol increases the content of dopamine in the brain. Causes an increase in compensatory activation of aerobic glycolysis and a decrease in the degree of inhibition of oxidative processes in the Krebs cycle under hypoxic conditions with an increase in the content of ATP and creatine phosphate, activation of the energy-synthesizing functions of mitochondria, stabilization of cell membranes. The drug improves metabolism and blood supply to the brain, improves microcirculation and rheological properties of blood, and reduces platelet aggregation. Stabilizes the membrane structures of blood cells (erythrocytes and platelets) during hemolysis. It has a lipid-lowering effect, reduces the content of total cholesterol and low-density lipoproteins. The anti-stress effect is manifested in the normalization of post-stress behavior, somatovegetative disorders, restoration of sleep-wake cycles, impaired learning and memory processes, reduction of dystrophic and morphological changes in various structures of the brain. Mexidol has a pronounced antitoxic effect in withdrawal symptoms. It eliminates the neurological and neurotoxic manifestations of acute alcohol intoxication, restores behavioral disorders, autonomic functions, and is also able to relieve cognitive impairment caused by long-term use of ethanol and its withdrawal. Under the influence of Mexidol, the effect of tranquilizing, neuroleptic, antidepressant, hypnotics and anticonvulsants is enhanced, which makes it possible to reduce their doses and reduce side effects.

Pharmacokinetics:
Rapidly absorbed when taken orally. The maximum concentration at doses of 400 - 500 mg is 3.5 - 4.0 mcg/ml. Quickly distributed in organs and tissues. The average retention time of the drug in the body when taken orally is 4.9 - 5.2 hours. Metabolized in the liver by glucuron conjugation. 5 metabolites have been identified: 3-hydroxypyridine phosphate - formed in the liver and, with the participation of alkaline phosphatase, breaks down into phosphoric acid and 3-hydroxypyridine; 2nd metabolite - pharmacologically active, is formed in large quantities and is found in the urine 1 - 2 days after administration; 3rd - excreted in large quantities in the urine; 4th and 5th - glucuron conjugates. Tx/2 when taken orally - 2.0 - 2.6 hours. It is quickly excreted in the urine, mainly in the form of metabolites and in small quantities - unchanged. The most intensive elimination occurs during the first 4 hours after taking the drug. Rates of urinary excretion of unchanged drug and metabolites have individual variability.

Indications for use:

Consequences of acute cerebrovascular accidents, including after transient ischemic attacks, in the subcompensation phase as preventive courses;
Mild traumatic brain injury, consequences of traumatic brain injury;
Encephalopathies of various origins (dyscirculatory, ismetabolic, post-traumatic, mixed);
Autonomic dystonia syndrome;
Mild cognitive disorders of atherosclerotic origin;
Anxiety disorders in neurotic and neurosis-like conditions;

Recently, the increasing number of cerebrovascular diseases, including cerebral strokes, has led to the search for new effective methods for their treatment.

Mexidol is a domestic original drug of a new type, the mechanism of action of which is determined by its antioxidant and membrane-protective properties.

Pharmacodynamic effects

Mexidol is a new drug that has pharmacological effects at least at two levels: at the level of nerve cells and at the vascular level (which does not have analogues). At the same time, it has antioxidant and antihypoxic effects. In addition, this drug stabilizes cell membranes and has nootropic and anxiolytic effects.

The drug effectively helps, it is prescribed as a stress-protective medication, as well as for the prevention of many pathological conditions. The body becomes more resistant to unfavorable environmental conditions, while at the same time, the proper level of development of adaptive reactions is ensured.

Mexidol helps restore the cyclic sleep-wake mechanism, improve sleep quality, increase tolerance to physical activity, emotional stress and various conflict situations. The anxiolytic effect of the drug is manifested in a decrease in internal anxiety, worry and fear.

Course use of the drug helps restore the body, improves cognitive functions, memory and learning processes.

In addition, the drug has anticonvulsant activity and can be used to treat various forms of epilepsy (which analogues do not have, and because of this there is a need for the separate use of antiepileptic drugs).

What other effects does Mexidol have on the body? The antihypoxic effect is manifested in an increase in the number of surviving experimental animals during the action of various types of hypoxia on their body.

Apparently, these effects are associated with an increase in anaerobic glycolysis and the amount of ATP, so indications for use include ischemic disorders.

Why does the medicine include cognitive dysfunction and disorders of mnestic processes in its indications? It inhibits lipid peroxidation, helps modulate the activity of membrane-bound enzymes, improving the transport of mediators in axon terminals.

Mexidol helps reduce increased blood viscosity, reduce the tendency to platelet aggregation, and improve the functioning of cerebral vessels. In addition, it helps to activate the metabolic processes of the brain tissue itself.

Pharmacokinetics

After administration, the drug is distributed very quickly and is also very quickly eliminated from the body. After which, after 4 hours, drug metabolites are no longer identified in the urine.

The mechanism of metabolism occurs primarily in the liver with the formation of glucuronic conjugates, some of which are capable of exhibiting pharmacological activity.

Features of use

Before you start taking any medication, you should carefully study the indications and contraindications for its use.

The drug is indicated for patients of any age as a complex treatment for acute disorders of blood supply to the brain.

Indications also include the treatment of encephalopathy, mnestic disorders of circulatory or atherosclerotic origin, and vegetative-vascular dystonia. The use of Mexidol in tablets is effective for the treatment of neuroses, withdrawal syndrome, intoxication and poisoning with various substances.

If these groups of patients also have contraindications, then the decision on the possibility of prescribing it is made by the doctor.

Methods of administration and average dosages

The drug is administered enterally (tablets) and parenterally (injections): intravenously and intramuscularly. The amount of substance administered depends on the patient’s initial condition and clinical diagnosis. Intravenous (drip) infusion is carried out at a rate of 35-55 drops/min, intravenously (stream) is administered for 6-8 minutes.

If the infusion is administered intravenously, it is diluted in a sterile sodium chloride solution. It is better to use a starting dose not exceeding 100 mg. It is distributed into three administrations per day, always after meals. Then the dosage is gradually increased until a therapeutic effect occurs.

For the treatment of acute cerebrovascular accidents (of any type and location) as part of complex therapy, Mexidol can be administered intravenously (by injection) or taken in tablets after meals for 2-4 days, from 200 to 300 mg 1 time per day. Then they switch to intramuscular administration of 100 mg of the drug 3 times a day. The duration of treatment for acute cerebrovascular accident is 10-14 days.

A critically important point in the effectiveness of therapy for cerebral stroke is its timely initiation.

At the prehospital stage, as monotherapy, administration should begin no later than 4 hours after the accident (by an emergency physician at a dosage of 400 mg) and then the drug can be continued to be injected in the neurological department or intensive care ward (ampoules at a dose of 800 to 1200 mg day). After stabilizing the patient's condition, the drug should be taken in tablets (300-400 mg per day).

If there are no indications for further treatment, it is best to discontinue the drug gradually, after stabilization of the clinical condition and laboratory parameters.

The duration of treatment for patients suffering from neuroses or neurosis-like disorders, mental symptoms of organic origin, as well as those caused by impaired blood supply to the brain, ranges from 2 to 6 weeks.

In order to relieve withdrawal symptoms caused by alcohol consumption, the drug is used for 5-6 days. In the latter case, injections can be replaced with tablets. It would be correct to take 2 tablets 2 times a day after meals for the entire period of existence of the specified syndrome.

The drug is effective in treating complications of diabetes mellitus. The tablets reduce the level of atherogenic blood lipids, improve microcirculation in the vessels of the brain, helping to normalize blood glucose levels (take as in the treatment of withdrawal syndrome).

When is the drug contraindicated?

The drug is not recommended for injection in patients with allergic reactions, including those with a history of hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. Contraindications include acute disorders of the functional activity of the liver and kidneys.

There is no data regarding the effect on children, pregnant women and mothers breastfeeding, so the drug is most often not prescribed to these groups of patients. If there is no alternative, then it should be prescribed only when the expected benefit significantly outweighs the harm.

Side effects

A distinctive feature of Mexidol is its low toxicity, hence the low incidence of side effects. Therefore, there are few contraindications to the drug.

Studies have proven that when the dose of the administered drug exceeds the level of toxic effects, disturbances in motor activity and coordination of movements are not observed for a long time, drowsiness and depression of brain functions do not occur.

Among the side effects that can be observed when using the drug in therapeutic concentrations are dry mouth, nausea and drowsiness.

Special instructions for use

It is better not to prescribe Mexidol to patients with arterial hypertension or a critical course of hypertension. For this category of people, the drug is prescribed only after normalization of blood pressure and sedation.

Mexidol is used with caution in persons whose work involves driving vehicles or complex mechanisms and requires increased concentration and attention.

Overdose of the drug is rare. Treatment is symptomatic, aimed at its rapid removal from the body.

Dialysis detoxification methods are used for treatment; it is recommended to drink more fluids.

Drug interactions

The medicine reduces the toxic effect and side effects of ethyl alcohol on the body, and also long-term potentiates the effect of benzodiazepine anxiolytics and antiparkinsonian drugs.

Cost of the drug

The cost of the drug depends on the pharmacy network and dosage. On average, a package (tablets, 30 pcs) can be purchased from 290 to 350 rubles. Large packages (tablets, 50 pcs) can be purchased a little more expensive - 400-450 rubles. The injection form of the drug (ampoules of a 5% solution, 2 ml, 10 pcs) will cost 490-550 rubles, ampoules (20 pcs, 5 ml each) will cost around 1,500 rubles.

Mexidol is a highly effective drug with a very wide range of pharmacodynamic effects on the body. The side effects of the drug are minimal.

Due to its high efficiency (which its analogs do not have), the drug can be used to treat acute and chronic cerebral circulatory disorders. Injection forms of release (ampoules) allow you to start therapy immediately (if indicated).

When is medication prescribed in tablets? Most often, after infusion therapy, patients are transferred to taking medication in tablet form (for the purpose of maintenance therapy, as well as as prophylaxis), when adverse factors affect the body, after which their side effects are reduced.

Recently, more and more people have to find out what Mexidol helps with. This is due to the growing number of vascular problems for which the drug is used. In addition, the possibility of its use in sports medicine is being considered.

Mexidol - composition

There are tablet and ampoule versions of this medicine. The doctor chooses which drug Mexidol will be prescribed based on the indications and ease of use. The difference between the different release forms lies in the concentration of the active substance and the presence of auxiliary components. The latter must be paid attention to if there have been cases of intolerance to any pharmaceutical products.

Mexidol - tablets

The main active ingredient is ethylmethylhydroxypyridine succinate, it contains 125 mg, other dosages are not yet produced. The composition of Mexidol tablets includes:

  • lactose monohydrate;
  • carmellose sodium;
  • Magnesium stearate.

The outer part is white or cream in color and consists of:

  • talc;
  • polyethylene glycol;
  • titanium dioxide;
  • polyvinyl alcohol.

Mexidol - ampoules

If your doctor has prescribed Mexidol, injections can be an alternative to taking pills. Options are produced with 250 and 100 mg of the main component. Moreover, its concentration in 1 ml is the same in both cases – 50 mg. The ampoules also contain:

  • sodium metabisulfide;
  • water for injections.

Mexidol - indications for use

The Russian-made medicine has a unique two-level effect, so it will not be possible to briefly describe what Mexidol helps with. It affects blood vessels and the condition of nerve cells, producing the following effects:

  • antioxidant;
  • membrane-protective;
  • antihypoxic;
  • anticonvulsant;
  • nootropic;
  • hypolipidemic;
  • anxiolytic.

These properties provide an extensive list of disorders for which medicine is needed. Why Mexidol is prescribed in a particular case is determined by the doctor - different problems cannot be solved in the same way, in each regimen the drug performs its own function. For this reason, self-medication is prohibited - it can cause harm even if the recommended doses are followed. The main reasons for prescribing medication are:

  • and their consequences;
  • vegetative dystonia;
  • asthenic reaction;
  • the result of an acute lack of cerebral blood supply;
  • cognitive impairment of atherosclerotic nature;
  • withdrawal syndrome;
  • strong stress factors;
  • ischemia;
  • inflammation of the peritoneal organs;
  • poisoning with psychotropic drugs;
  • prevention of somatic disorders under high loads.

Mexidol - side effects

Unlike other drugs that have a powerful effect, Mexidol causes almost no side effects. If the dosage remains adequate to the problem, the following are possible:

  • dry mouth;
  • desire to sleep;
  • nausea.

The volume of the substance obtained depends on what Mexidol helps in a particular case, so you cannot change it yourself. This is explained not so much by the possibility of getting a negative reaction, but by a decrease in effectiveness, which will complicate treatment. The low toxicity of the drug allows you to exceed the dose for a long time without reducing motor activity, a strong desire to sleep, or deteriorating motor coordination or brain function. Because of this, there is a risk of not noticing problems and adjusting the therapeutic regimen too late, which will lead to the need for its revision.

Mexidol - contraindications

Due to its relative safety, the list of problems for which the use of such treatment is prohibited is surprisingly small. It includes:

  • acute disorders of renal and hepatic functions;
  • allergies and intolerance to any component.

Whether Mexidol can be taken by children, pregnant and nursing mothers is decided on a case-by-case basis. There have been no studies on this topic, so doctors avoid using the drug in these groups of people. In rare cases, the appointment may take place, but only if there is confidence that the risk of negative consequences is significantly lower than the expected benefit.

In case of arterial hypertension and crisis, use is carried out under strict control of the pressure level; the use of additional agents is not excluded. Also, caution should be observed when taking it if it is necessary to drive a car and perform complex, high-precision work that requires high concentration of attention. If negative reactions occur, the dosage is revised or the drug is completely discontinued.

Mexidol - application

There is no universal duration, volume and route of administration of the drug. This is due to an extensive list of problems, which Mexidol helps with. In case of acute disorders, daily injections of 400-1200 mg are preferred. A rate of 40-60 drops per minute is allowed; if jet delivery is selected, then the dose is administered no faster than 5-7 minutes. Cancellation is carried out gradually after all indicators return to normal.

If Mexidol tablets are prescribed, the attending physician must decide how to take it - before or after meals. The second option is standard in the treatment of cerebrovascular accidents. The daily dose is 200-300 mg, duration is 10-14 days. In other cases, the intake begins with 1-2 tablets with a gradual increase in their number in order to identify an individual reaction to the medicine.

How long can you take Mexidol?

Treatment regimens vary depending on the problem and the specific characteristics of the situation. The chosen form of the drug also has an impact. Mexidol intramuscularly or intravenously is rarely used for more than 10 days, and tablets can be prescribed for a period of 1-1.5 months, but there have been cases of administration for six months. How to take Mexidol is determined by the doctor; you cannot not follow his instructions by abruptly stopping or prolonging the use of the medicine.

Mexidol for VSD

If you ask a doctor what Mexidol helps with, one of the first to be named will be vegetative-vascular problems. A particularly striking effect is achieved during their paroxysmal course. Relieves the main symptoms, has a noticeable calming effect, and normalizes sleep. Prescribed 100-200 mg intravenously for a ten-day period. When receiving intramuscularly, a period of 15 days is recommended, after which they switch to tablets of 0.25-0.5 g per day in 2-3 doses, the entire course is 2-6 weeks. Treatment of VSD with Mexidol ends with a gradual dose reduction over the last 3 days.

Mexidol for cervical osteochondrosis

Depending on the phase of the disease, 200-400 mg in the form of injections is recommended for 10 days. Then patients are transferred to oral administration of 0.125 mg three times a day. Mexidol can be taken in this mode for 2-6 weeks. It stimulates poor blood circulation, restoring normal oxygen saturation and eliminating unpleasant symptoms. This helps alleviate the condition, but does not eliminate the need to eliminate the root cause.

Mexidol for migraines

Due to its antioxidant effects, ability to help blood flow and absorption of other medications, Mexidol can be recommended for headaches. It is important to find out its cause, because the symptom can be a manifestation of various diseases. After establishing the prerequisites, the dose of the drug and concomitant medications are determined. It is necessary to follow the recommendations to avoid negative effects.

Mexidol for epilepsy

It is used intravenously twice a day, 100 mg for 15 days. Then the same dose is administered intramuscularly for the same period. You need to understand what liquid Mexidol helps with in this case. It is not able to eliminate the disorder itself, but will support the main therapy. The drug has an anticonvulsant effect, helping to make symptoms less pronounced. Treatment with Mexidol will make it possible to reduce the side effects of other drugs without affecting their effectiveness.

Mexidol for concussion

The use is indicated for mild forms, the effectiveness has been clinically confirmed. Mexidol for dizziness and other symptoms of a concussion is prescribed up to 375 mg per day, administration lasts 28-30 days. It is used as part of complex therapy, in which it is recommended to include it from the very beginning. This provides the best effect, simplifying the correction of post-traumatic disorders. Thanks to multifactorial effects, it improves cell energy metabolism, inhibits oxidative processes and stimulates memory functions.

Mexidol for stroke

It is very important to start treatment early; no more than 4 hours after the incident is considered optimal. The emergency doctor should administer 400 mg, then in the intensive care or neurology ward, injections of 800-1200 mg per day are continued. Mexidol after a stroke, when the condition has stabilized, take 300-400 mg tablets. If the doctor decides that there are no indications for further use, then discontinuation is carried out slowly.

Mexidol for alcohol intoxication

Due to the ability to reduce the effects of ethanol, the drug is used for acute poisoning or treatment of addiction. This is what the drug Mexidol helps with in this case, it eliminates:

  • toxic and neurological manifestations;
  • memory impairment;
  • problems perceiving information;
  • anxiety;
  • high excitability.

Mexidol for a hangover after prolonged intoxication is administered for 7 days at 100-400 mg per day. A wide spectrum of action helps to quickly relieve the main manifestations of withdrawal syndrome. A positive result is observed 1.5-2 hours after the first injection, and a stable result is achieved after 2-3 days. Patients note the following effects:

  • reduction of anxiety;
  • elimination of headaches;
  • suppression of alcohol motivation;
  • stimulation of concentration;
  • relieving fear and tension;
  • the appearance of a comfortable state;
  • disappearance of hallucinations, nightmares and alcohol-related dreams;
  • restoration of vigor and activity.

Good tolerability removes restrictions on use; negative manifestations quickly disappear spontaneously or upon discontinuation of the drug. In exceptional cases with alcoholism, patients noted the appearance of:

  • weaknesses;
  • bitterness and dry mouth;
  • dizziness.

Office work does not allow you to follow all the recommendations of specialists on improving the health of the body: often take walks in the air, visit fitness centers and swimming pools. The brain is constantly under stress. As a result, I began to have problems with memory and sleep (I began to forget some information, did not get enough sleep, and when I woke up, I felt unusually tired). Having turned to a specialist, I was prescribed the medicine Mexidol in tablets, but refused the Mexidol injection because I did not have enough time. I learned that you need to take it regularly, three times a day. Immediately I asked what is the best way to take Mexidol tablets: before meals or after, because... I don’t always manage to have a snack at work. The doctor prescribed taking 3 tablets. per day after meals. After completing a course of treatment with Mexidol tablets, I had the best reviews - my memory gradually strengthened, my sleep improved, I again became a full-fledged employee at work, and not a sleeping owl.

The modern information age does not allow our children to fully rest - they are exposed to too much information, which contributes to the appearance of such an unpleasant diagnosis as vegetative-vascular disorders. They can manifest themselves in different ways: panic attacks, tachycardia, fatigue, frequent causeless headaches, and the like. By adolescence, it can be quite difficult to cope with them. Not prescribing psychotropic drugs is dangerous. The imbalance in the body is especially noticeable in the off-season. Mexidol tablets come to the aid of specialists and parents. The instructions for Mexidol tablets describe in detail: how to take Mexidol, course duration, indications and contraindications. Reviews of taking Mexidol tablets may be different for everyone, but personally, it helped me and my child very well. On the advice of our specialist, he will continue to take courses of treatment with Mexidol.

Hope

With horror, I began to notice that my brain activity had somehow worsened: my friends were remembering the past, asking if I remember the events of five years ago, but I don’t remember! I don’t have time to see a specialist - I’m overloaded with work. I went online, visited several resources, and came across forums discussing Mexidol. I carefully studied the instructions for Mexidol tablets and read the information about analogues. I followed my friend’s advice and first underwent a course of treatment with Mexidol in ampoules, and then, to consolidate the effect, I took tablets for a month. There was no difference in the sensation - Mexidol both in tablets and in injections, I didn’t understand which was better. Reviews from Mexidol tablets were the most positive - no dizziness, no drowsiness, but only a significant improvement in memory and brain activity in general.

I had severe pain in my neck and head due to osteochondrosis, and I had to go to the clinic. There, a neurologist prescribed me Mexidol tablets, 1 tablet 3 times a day, to drink for a month. After 2 weeks of taking it, my head and neck stopped hurting, and my general condition became a little better. Then I tried Mexidol injections for several days, in my opinion, the injections act faster and more effectively than tablets, but Mexidol tablets are cheaper.

Hello! Here is a selection of topics with answers to your question: As prin. Mexidol (before, during or after meals)? Is it possible to apply it? simultaneously with Tanakan? Are there better drugs? Which?

Answer from I-beam[newbie]
Method of administration and dose: IM or IV (stream or drip). When administered by infusion, the drug should be diluted in an isotonic sodium chloride solution.
Doses are selected individually depending on the pathology and severity of the patient's condition.
The recommended dose is 5-10 mg/kg/day, depending on the condition.
Mexidol is injected slowly over 1-3 minutes, dropwise at a rate of 40-60 drops per minute.
In the treatment of acute cerebrovascular accident, Mexidol is used intravenously in drops from 100 to 1000 mg/day, depending on the severity of the condition, for 10-14 days (the daily dose is divided into 2-4 administrations), then intravenously in a stream or i.v. m 200 mg 2 times a day for another 10-14 days.
For acute traumatic brain injury, Mexidol is administered intravenously at a dose of 100-1000 mg/day, depending on the severity of the injury and the patient’s condition. The daily dose is divided into 2-4 injections.
For encephalopathies in the decompensation phase, Mexidol is used intravenously in a stream or drip at a dose of 200-300 mg 2-3 times a day for 10-14 days, then intramuscularly at 200-300 mg/day for 10-14 days.
For course prophylaxis for encephalopathies of various origins, Mexidol is administered intramuscularly at a dose of 200 mg 1-2 times a day for 10-14 days. In the future, they switch to using it in tablet form.
For vertebrobasilar insufficiency in the decompensation phase, Mexidol is administered 200 mg 2-3 times a day intravenously or intravenously, for 10-15 days; in the subcompensation phase - 200 mg 1-2 times a day intravenously or intramuscularly for 10-14 days with a further transition to the tablet form; in the compensation phase (preventive course) - 100-200 mg (1-2 amp.) IM daily for 10-15 days or in tablet form.
Epilepsy and episyndromes: 200-400 mg 1-2 times a day intravenously for 10-15 days, followed by transition to long-term oral administration.
For cognitive disorders of atherosclerotic origin in elderly patients, neurotic and psychoorganic syndromes - IM at a dose of 100-300 mg/day for 14-30 days, followed by switching to tablet form.
For alcohol and drug intoxication - IV drip at a dose of 300-400 mg 2-3 times a day until the intoxication subsides.
For withdrawal syndromes (alcohol and drugs) - at a dose of 200-300 mg intravenously or intramuscularly 2 times a day for 5-7 days.
In case of acute intoxication with antipsychotic drugs - intravenous drip, in a daily dose of 400-800 mg, divided into 2 injections.
For asthenic disorders - at a dose of 100-200 mg/day IM daily for 10-15 days. Then they switch to tablet form.
In acute purulent-inflammatory processes of the abdominal cavity (acute necrotizing pancreatitis, peritonitis), Mexidol is prescribed on the first day both in the preoperative and postoperative periods. The dose of the drug depends on the form and severity of the disease, the prevalence of the process, and variants of the clinical course. For acute edematous (interstitial) pancreatitis - 200-600 mg 2-3 times a day intravenously and intramuscularly. For necrotizing pancreatitis of mild severity - 200-400 mg 2-3 times a day intravenously and intramuscularly. For necrotizing pancreatitis of moderate severity - 200-600 mg 2-3 times a day intravenously; in case of a severe course of the process, on the first day a pulse dose of 800 mg is prescribed, divided into 2 injections, then 300 mg 2 times a day with a gradual decrease in the daily dose. In case of extremely severe necrotizing pancreatitis, the initial dose is 800 mg/day until the manifestations of pancreatogenic shock are persistently relieved, when the condition stabilizes - 300-400 mg 2 times a day intravenously, with a gradual reduction in the daily dose.
Course therapy with Mexidol is completed gradually, reducing the dose of the drug over 2-3 days.

INSTRUCTIONS for medical use of the drug Mexidol ®

Registration number: LSR/07 dated 08/09/2007

Trade name of the drug: Mexidol

Chemical rational name: 2-ethyl-6-methyl-3-hydroxypyridine succinate.

Dosage form: film-coated tablets

Active substance: ethylmethylhydroxypyridine succinate mg, excipients: lactose monohydrate, sodium carboxymethylcellulose (carmellose sodium), magnesium stearate, shell: opadry II white (macrogol (polyethylene glycol), polyvinyl alcohol, talc, titanium dioxide).

Description: Tablets are round, biconvex, film-coated, from white to white with a creamy tint.

Pharmacotherapeutic group: antioxidant agent.

Pharmacological properties:

Rapidly absorbed when taken orally. The maximum concentration at mg doses is 3.5 - 4.0 mcg/ml. Quickly distributed in organs and tissues. The average retention time of the drug in the body when taken orally is 4.9 - 5.2 hours. Metabolized in the liver by glucuron conjugation. 5 metabolites have been identified: 3-hydroxypyridine phosphate - formed in the liver and, with the participation of alkaline phosphatase, breaks down into phosphoric acid and 3-hydroxypyridine; 2nd metabolite - pharmacologically active, formed in large quantities and found in urine immediately after administration; 3rd - excreted in large quantities in the urine; 4th and 5th - glucuron conjugates.

I want to say a huge thank you

Margarita Fri, 31/03/:09

I would like to say a huge thank you to the neurologist who prescribed me Mexidol. I’ll be honest, I really don’t trust all the pills, I read a lot of reviews, some praise, some don’t seem to feel anything, you don’t know whether to drink or not to drink, but my emotional health has already reached a critical point, chronic neurosis has already finished me off, Panic attacks also tormented me, I thought that I was almost in pre-stroke conditions, I lost my speech for half a minute, what strange reasoning, which I can’t remember later, in general, it’s not life, but hell. I bought the pills and started drinking. on the first day I drank 1 tablet in the morning and 1 tablet. in the evening, on the first day, I didn’t even understand such a quick result, my head became clear, the desire to live returned, I can’t even express all my emotions, we’ll see how it goes, I’ve only been drinking for 2 days, thanks again to the doctor, who, one might say, got me back on my feet , but I still don’t understand that such progress happened in one day, although the reviews write that Mexidol has a cumulative effect. That's how it happens.

Mexidol and Mexicor are one thing

Nadezhda Wed, 05/24/:00

Are Mexidol and Mexicor the same thing?

Mexidol analogue, which

Olga Thu, 12/10/:45

Please name an analogue of Mexidol that is cheaper!

  • lactose monohydrate;
  • carmellose sodium;
  • Magnesium stearate.

The outer part is white or cream in color and consists of:

  • talc;
  • polyethylene glycol;
  • titanium dioxide;

  • sodium metabisulfide;
  • water for injections.

Mexidol - indications for use

The Russian-made medicine has a unique two-level effect, so it will not be possible to briefly describe what Mexidol helps with. It affects blood vessels and the condition of nerve cells, producing the following effects:

  • antioxidant;
  • membrane-protective;
  • antihypoxic;
  • anticonvulsant;
  • nootropic;
  • hypolipidemic;

  • and their consequences;
  • vegetative dystonia;
  • asthenic reaction;
  • the result of an acute lack of cerebral blood supply;
  • cognitive impairment of atherosclerotic nature;
  • withdrawal syndrome;
  • strong stress factors;
  • ischemia;
  • inflammation of the peritoneal organs;
  • poisoning with psychotropic drugs;
  • prevention of somatic disorders under high loads.

Mexidol - side effects

Unlike other drugs that have a powerful effect, Mexidol causes almost no side effects. If the dosage remains adequate to the problem, the following are possible:

  • dry mouth;
  • desire to sleep;

  • acute disorders of renal and hepatic functions;

  • toxic and neurological manifestations;
  • memory impairment;
  • problems perceiving information;
  • anxiety;

  • reduction of anxiety;
  • elimination of headaches;
  • suppression of alcohol motivation;
  • stimulation of concentration;
  • relieving fear and tension;
  • the appearance of a comfortable state;
  • disappearance of hallucinations, nightmares and alcohol-related dreams;
  • restoration of vigor and activity.

Good tolerability removes restrictions on use; negative manifestations quickly disappear spontaneously or upon discontinuation of the drug. In exceptional cases with alcoholism, patients noted the appearance of:

  • weaknesses;
  • bitterness and dry mouth;
  • dizziness.

5 metabolites have been identified:

3-hydroxypyridine phosphate - is formed in the liver and, with the participation of alkaline phosphatase, breaks down into phosphoric acid and 3-hydroxypyridine; 2nd metabolite - pharmacologically active, is formed in large quantities and is found in the urine 1 - 2 days after administration; 3rd - excreted in large quantities in the urine;

4th and 5th - glucuron conjugates.

Consequences of acute cerebrovascular accidents, including after transient ischemic attacks, in the subcompensation phase as preventive courses;

Encephalopathies of various origins (dyscirculatory, ismetabolic, post-traumatic, mixed);

Autonomic dystonia syndrome;

Mild cognitive disorders of atherosclerotic origin;

Relief of withdrawal syndrome in alcoholism with a predominance of neurosis-like and vegetative-vascular disorders, post-withdrawal disorders;

Asthenic conditions, as well as for the prevention of the development of somatic diseases under the influence of extreme factors and stress;

Impact of extreme (stress) factors.

Side effects

Side effects when taking Mexidol tablets are quite rare. Sometimes there is individual poor tolerance in the form of nausea and other dyspeptic complaints. Also, as with any drug, hypersensitivity reactions are possible with Mexidol.

Overdose

Mexidol tablets are safe to use; cases of overdose are extremely rare. In case of overdose, general weakness or drowsiness may develop.

The drug has pharmacological actions that are significant for the body and almost no

There are no adverse reactions and complications.

Therapeutic effects
are caused by the effect of the active substance of the drug on the central and autonomic nervous system and blood vessels.

Main properties of Mexidol:

  • membrane stabilizer,
  • inhibitor of the formation of free radicals,
  • antihypoxant - (saturates the blood with oxygen),
  • nootropic - (improves memory),
  • tranquilizer - (relieves anxiety),
  • increases the body's stability in conditions of hypoxia, ischemia, intoxication, and has an anticonvulsant effect.

Free radicals destroy cell walls or membranes, and then intracellular organelles, thereby triggering a mechanism for reducing immunity and the development of diseases dangerous to health.

Mexidol as a strong antioxidant
, suppresses the formation of free radicals and protects cells from their destructive effects. Under the influence of the drug, cell membranes are stabilized, the synthesis of nucleic acids and ATP is activated, blood counts, microcirculation and rheological properties improve, and cholesterol decreases.

By restoring blood circulation, blood supply and improving metabolic processes, dystrophic and morphological changes in all parts of the brain are reduced. In ischemic areas of the heart, the function of cardiomyocytes is preserved, and myocardial contractility is normalized. The processes of excitation and inhibition are balanced, the cyclical processes of sleep and wakefulness are restored, and the ability to learn and remember improves.

One of the most important properties of Mexidol is its strong antitoxic effect, which is especially evident in cases of alcohol intoxication and poisoning.

In addition, the drug increases the production of the neurotransmitter dopamine, which actively affects mood, causes feelings of pleasure, increases physical activity, and plays the role of an adaptogen in various stressful situations.

Mexidol is highly bioavailable, quickly absorbed and distributed in the blood to organs and tissues. It is destroyed in the liver into metabolites, excreted after 5-6 hours in the urine in the form of metabolites and in small quantities unchanged. The half-life is from 2 to 3 hours.

Usually, Mexidol does not cause side effects and this is possible mainly when used incorrectly. In rare cases, after using the solution, the following body reactions are observed:

  • Nausea;
  • Sleep disorders;
  • Dry mouth;
  • Allergic manifestations.

Medicine in the form of tablets sometimes provokes the development of the following pathological phenomena:

  • Abdominal pain;
  • Depressive state;
  • Belching;
  • Allergy;
  • Nausea;
  • Stool disorders;
  • Heartburn;
  • Loss of appetite;
  • Weakness.

Sometimes patients experience surges in blood pressure (mostly a decrease), disruptions in coordination of movements and outbursts of emotions. Any form of the drug can affect the development of such pathological processes.

When is the drug contraindicated?

The drug enhances the effect of tranquilizers and pain relievers. Affects obtaining an improved result after the administration of anticonvulsants. Reduces the effect of ethyl alcohol on the body.

Among the side effects that can be observed when using the drug in therapeutic concentrations are dry mouth, nausea and drowsiness.

Overdose and additional instructions

Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery. During the treatment period, care must be taken when driving vehicles and engaging in other potentially hazardous activities that require increased concentration and speed of psychomotor reactions.

Nausea, dry mouth, and drowsiness may likely occur. Allergic reactions are possible.

special instructions

In cases of individual hypersensitivity of patients to the components of the drug, allergic reactions are possible. Patients who drive cars need special attention.

There are no peculiarities observed with the parallel use of several drugs.

Mexidol combines quite well with other medications.

Has the ability to reduce the toxic effect of ethyl alcohol.

If necessary, can be taken after drinking alcohol.

The drug can increase resistance to damaging influences (hypoxia, ischemia, shock, cerebral circulatory disorders, intoxication with alcoholic beverages or antipsychotics). The drug blocks lipid peroxidation, which can cause cell damage. The activity of membrane enzymes and receptor complexes is also modulated, which improves the functioning of brain cell membranes.

Mexidol is able to reduce platelet aggregation, thereby improving the rheological properties of blood. Stabilizes blood cell membranes during hemolytic processes. Has a mild lipid-lowering effect.

In addition to the effects described above, Mexidol is able to stabilize disturbed vegetative processes, restore sleep, improve memory, and reduce morphological and dystrophic disorders in brain structures. It has a good antitoxic effect during alcohol abuse, including during abstinence.

Reduces the manifestations of acute alcohol intoxication, normalizes behavior, and relieves cognitive impairment due to chronic alcohol consumption. Mexidol can enhance the effect of tranquilizers, antidepressants, antipsychotics, hypnotics and anticonvulsants, which, when taken together, can help reduce drug dosages and reduce possible side effects.

Pharmacokinetically, Mexidol tablets are well absorbed when taken orally. It is quickly distributed throughout organs and tissues, the average duration of action of Mexidol is about 4-5 hours. Metabolized in the liver into 5 metabolites, pharmacologically active metabolites are determined in the urine for up to 48 hours.

The half-life after oral administration is 2.5 hours. It is excreted in the urine, mainly in the form of metabolites, and also, slightly, unchanged. The most intense elimination is observed in the first 4 hours after administration.

When taking Mexidol tablets, you should remember the following special instructions:

  • When used with antidepressants, benzodiazepines, anxiolytics, anticonvulsants, an increase in their effects should be expected. The toxic effect of ethanol, when used together, is reduced.
  • When taking Mexidol, you should be careful when driving a car or performing potentially dangerous work that requires quick reaction and attention.

The medicine reduces the toxic effect and side effects of ethyl alcohol on the body, and also long-term potentiates the effect of benzodiazepine anxiolytics and antiparkinsonian drugs.

It fights spasms well and improves brain activity.

Exists in the form of tablets and solutions in ampoules. It has a wide spectrum of action, with few side effects.

Before purchasing a medication, you need to find out not only what it is for, but also in what cases this medicine cannot be used, namely:

  • Intolerance to the composition of the medication;
  • Liver failure;
  • Malfunction of the kidneys.

It is forbidden to use Mexidol during pregnancy and breastfeeding. This phenomenon is attributed to the fact that there is no accurate data on the effect of the drug on the child.

Why is Mexidol prescribed? The drug is indicated for the treatment of:

  1. Vegetative-vascular dystonia;
  2. Alcohol and drug addiction;
  3. Discirculatory encephalopathy;
  4. Pathologies of the brain of an atherosclerotic nature;

The instructions for use of the drug Mexidol state that there are many more indications for use than contraindications.

Contraindications

The number of contraindications is much smaller:

  • the person’s sensitivity to the drug is too strong;
  • a sharp change in kidney performance for the worse;
  • a sharp change in liver performance for the worse;
  • contraindicated for children.

In cases of impaired functional activity of the kidneys and liver, the use of the drug is prohibited.

This synthetic antioxidant is suitable for internal use. It is produced as a liquid solution for injection and in the form of pills. If the doctor has prescribed Mexidol, the indications for use should be discussed in advance, cases of overdose and contraindications should be excluded. In case of drug incompatibility, it is worth choosing a more gentle analogue with a mild effect on the site of pathology.

The active substance of the chemical formula is ethylmethylhydroxypyridine succinate. The synthetic component improves tissue respiration, which is especially important for all types of hypoxia. In addition, it provides high-quality nutrition to tissues and effectively fights the products of intoxication in the body. The therapeutic effect is almost instantaneous, especially if these are intramuscular injections for shock conditions.

Considering the fact of drug interactions, it becomes obvious that not all patients can use this medication. If you are interested in Mexidol, the first step is to study the contraindications. The manufacturer reports that taking tablets and injections is not recommended if the clinical picture includes:

  • renal failure;
  • liver problems;
  • hypersensitivity to synthetic components.

The Russian-made medicine has a unique two-level effect, so it will not be possible to briefly describe what Mexidol helps with. It affects blood vessels and the condition of nerve cells, producing the following effects:

  • antioxidant;
  • membrane-protective;
  • antihypoxic;
  • anticonvulsant;
  • nootropic;
  • hypolipidemic;

  • and their consequences;
  • vegetative dystonia;
  • asthenic reaction;
  • the result of an acute lack of cerebral blood supply;
  • cognitive impairment of atherosclerotic nature;
  • withdrawal syndrome;
  • strong stress factors;
  • ischemia;
  • inflammation of the peritoneal organs;
  • poisoning with psychotropic drugs;
  • prevention of somatic disorders under high loads.

Due to its relative safety, the list of problems for which the use of such treatment is prohibited is surprisingly small. It includes:

  • acute disorders of renal and hepatic functions;

Mexidol tablets are used very widely in neurological practice, in particular for the following conditions:

    • ACVA (hemorrhagic and stroke), as well as their consequences.
    • TBI().
    • Abstinence.
    • Poisoning with antipsychotics.
    • Asthenia.
    • within the framework of asthenia.
    • Dizziness of various origins (with vascular diseases of the brain).

There are a number of contraindications to the use of the drug:

  • Acute renal failure.
  • Allergic reactions to the drug.
  • Pediatric practice.
  • Pregnancy and lactation.

It is also undesirable to use Mexidol for significant liver dysfunction.

A doctor can prescribe Mexidol therapy only after a complete examination of the patient, diagnosis and testing. The drug has a wide spectrum of action and is prescribed in the following cases:

  • After ischemic attacks in the body.
  • If there is a circulatory disorder in the patient's brain.
  • As a prevention of ischemic stroke.
  • After head and skull injuries.
  • With vegetative dystonia syndrome.
  • At the time of nervous disorders, with feelings of anxiety.
  • To combat withdrawal symptoms in alcoholism.
  • Prescribed after severe intoxication in the body.
  • When the nervous system is damaged by severe stress.
  • After strong psychological stress.
  • At the time of myocardial infarction.
  • With a purulent process in the abdominal area.
  • At the time of glaucoma of different stages.

  3. Prohibited for children under 16 years of age.
  4. Should not be taken by pregnant women.
  5. Dangerous for the baby during breastfeeding. The substances of the drug can reach the child through milk and seriously harm his health.

If you have an individual intolerance to the product, you should immediately inform your doctor. He can prescribe analogues of Mexidol, which will help with the disease and will not cause harm to the body.

As a rule, Mexidol must be taken in the presence of the following conditions and diseases:

  1. Various results of cerebral accidents (impaired microcirculation of the brain with damage to its tissue as a result of difficulty or complete cancellation of blood flow to its parts).
  2. Head injury.
  3. Diseases that are associated with vascular damage.
  4. Weakness.
  5. Ischemia (local decrease in blood supply, in most cases caused by a vascular factor, which leads to temporary dysfunction or damage to a tissue or organ).
  6. Neurological diseases (a disease that develops as a result of damage to the brain and spinal cord, as well as peripheral nerve trunks and ganglia).
  7. Lethargy.
  8. General malaise.
  9. Chronic stress (a serious illness that has even more negative consequences: various mental disorders and serious illnesses of internal organs).
  10. Withdrawal syndrome in alcoholism (a consequence of depletion of resources of the whole organism in general and the liver in particular).
  11. Vegetative-vascular dystonia (a complex of functional disorders based on a violation of the regulation of vascular tone by the autonomic nervous system).

In each situation, a specialist, taking into account all the characteristics of the patient’s body, develops a course of therapy that can achieve the fastest effect. In addition, the doctor will recommend how and at what time it is best to take Mexidol tablets.

Despite the huge range of actions, Mexidol cannot be used by all people. There are situations in which the use of the medicine will not bring the desired effect, for example:

  1. Individual intolerance to substances.
  2. “Interesting position” of a woman.
  3. Breast-feeding.
  4. Acute liver and kidney diseases.

Drug interactions

  • Prevention of the oxidative process at the cellular level;

The medicine Mexidol, due to its effect, helps relieve intoxication in severe inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis). It can also be used to treat problems with cerebral blood flow and to relieve stroke symptoms. Mexidol is also taken for headaches caused by lack of oxygen, as the drug eliminates this problem.

You can take Mexidol for any type of intoxication of the body. The drug reduces the effects of toxins, especially if the cause is taking antipsychotics and alcohol.

Long-term use of Mexidol for VSD has a good effect on the general well-being of the patient. Anxiety is relieved and brain activity increases.

According to the instructions for use, Mexidol is characterized by a complex pharmacological effect, has antioxidant, adaptogenic, nootropic, membrane stabilizing, cerebroprotective, anxiolytic, vegetotropic, anticonvulsant effects:

  • Restores the functions and structure of cell membranes, modulates membrane-bound enzymes, improves the interconnection of brain structures and synoptic transmission;
  • Improves immune system function, inhibits platelet aggregation;
  • Activates the synthesis of protein and nucleic acids inside cells, accelerates enzymatic reactions of the Krebs cycle and glucose utilization, promotes the synthesis of ATP and its accumulation inside cells;
  • Improves cerebral hemodynamics, including microcirculation, has a positive effect on blood fluidity, limits the area of cerebral ischemia and stimulates reparative processes;
  • Reduces the level of low-density lipoproteins and cholesterol, promotes regression of atherosclerotic changes in blood vessels;
  • Inhibits fat peroxidation, activates the antioxidant system, accelerates mitochondrial energy synthesis, and improves cellular energy metabolism.

From the digestive system: individual adverse reactions of a dyspeptic or dyspeptic nature may occur.

Others:
Allergic reactions are possible.

Mexidol can be combined with all drugs used to treat somatic diseases. When used together, Mexidol enhances the effect of benzodiazepine derivatives, antidepressants, anxiolytics, antiparkinsonian and anticonvulsants. Mexidol reduces the toxic effect of ethyl alcohol.

If a patient has doubts about the use of any drug, it is best to consult a specialist. Doctors say that Mexidol tablets can be taken regardless of the time of eating.

The instructions for use for the drug “Mexidol” do not indicate any interactions of the active substance with food or other drugs, which would lead to a decrease in the pharmacological effect of the former or an increase in its toxic effect on the patient’s body.

Now you know how to take Mexidol. Before or after food, it doesn’t matter. The medicine can be taken at any time, regardless of diet.

“Mexidol” is well tolerated by patients and does not irritate the mucous cavity of the gastrointestinal tract. Nausea may occur extremely rarely, but it is not related to the peculiarities of use.

The only key is compliance with the dosage - the daily concentration of the active substance is 250-500 milligrams, which is equal to three to four tablets per day, which must be divided into two or three doses.

Recently, more and more people have to find out what Mexidol helps with. This is due to the growing number of vascular problems for which the drug is used. In addition, the possibility of its use in sports medicine is being considered.

Unlike other drugs that have a powerful effect, Mexidol causes almost no side effects. If the dosage remains adequate to the problem, the following are possible:

  • dry mouth;
  • desire to sleep;

Before prescribing a medicine, the doctor studies its description, excludes contraindications, side effects, and incompatibility with other pharmacological groups as part of complex treatment. This will help prevent a deterioration in the patient’s general well-being and speed up recovery. After prescribing the drug, keep in mind that Mexidol has the following side effects:

  • signs of dyspepsia of varying severity;
  • local allergic reactions.

Mexidol, interacting with the body, exhibits properties that are not aimed at fighting free radicals.

It has a wide area of action. This drug is prescribed in cases of poor oxygen supply to tissues, or in cases of disruption of this process.

This drug reduces the body's sensitivity
to oxygen-dependent pathological conditions, helps improve memory, ability to work and concentration, and reduces the harmful effects of alcohol on the body.

Mexidol is a drug that exhibits antioxidant properties.
.

Mexidol tablets and injections, as indicated in the instructions for use, help inhibit free radical processes and lipid peroxidation.

It helps activate the antioxidant enzyme superoxide dismutase.
. It has a positive effect on the physicochemical properties of the biomembrane.

During its effect on the human body, this drug acts as a substance that protects membranes, prevents the occurrence of seizures, increases the body’s resistance to the effects of negative factors and prevents the development of oxygen-dependent pathological conditions.

Improves blood circulation and reduces the ability of platelets to attract each other. It helps reduce cholesterol levels.

Under the influence of this drug, the process of lipid peroxidation slows down, superoxide dismutase activity increases, the viscosity of the membrane decreases and, in turn, its fluidity decreases.

Due to its mechanisms of action, it has a small number of contraindications
and has a low level of toxicity.

Overdose

The doctor is obliged to tell the patient about possible side effects. They may not appear, but you still need to get information about them. Please note that side effects can greatly harm the body. Therefore, if your condition suddenly worsens, you should immediately inform your doctor. Here are the main side effects of Mexidol:

  1. Nausea or vomiting.
  2. Severe dry mouth, constant feeling of thirst.
  3. Allergies on the body.
  4. Fatigue, constant sleepiness during the day.
  5. Fear, anxiety and depression.
  6. Emotional activity.
  7. Hyperhidrosis.
  8. The patient has frequent headaches.
  9. Poor coordination, a person may even fall.
  10. High blood pressure.
  11. Dizziness.

If side effects appear immediately, the doctor should urgently reduce the dose of the prescribed drug or, as a last resort, stop therapy with this drug.

In ampoules

The second form of release of this medicine is a solution for injection. If regular Mexidol is prescribed in this form, ampoules are also available without a prescription. The release version is more effective, since the component - methylhydroxypyridine - immediately enters the systemic bloodstream, has a therapeutic effect, and gives a stable and long-lasting therapeutic effect. The medicine has antioxidant, nootropic, antihypoxic and anxiolytic properties. Indications for use are:

  • insufficient nutrition of brain tissue;
  • impaired systemic circulation of the cerebral cortex and not only;
  • nervous disorders with panic attacks, anxiety states;
  • impaired cognitive function;
  • open angle glaucoma.

The medication Mexidol in ampoules according to the instructions is administered into the patient’s body intramuscularly or intravenously. It is important to discuss single doses and course duration with your doctor in advance. A similar summary of Mexidol states that a single dose of medication depends on the nature of the pathological process and the degree of neglect of the diagnosed disease. These may be the following standards:

  1. Impaired cerebral circulation - 200-500 mg of medication / 14 days.
  2. Traumatic brain injuries – 500 mg / 14 days.
  3. Circulatory insufficiency in the cerebral cortex – 100-250 ml / 10 days.

The doctor may prescribe Mexidol injections intravenously or intramuscularly. The dose of the drug is prescribed by a specialist individually based on the patient’s diagnosis and stage of the disease.
Sometimes it is necessary to dilute the product with sodium chloride when injecting, using 200 ml per ampoule.

Standard treatment begins with 100 mg of Mexidol 2-3 times a day. The doctor may increase the dose gradually if no side effects are observed. The maximum dose of the drug is 800 mg. Mexidol can be administered:

  1. Jet. The injection must be given slowly, over approximately 7 minutes.
  2. Drip. Inject 50 drops in 1 minute.

Medicine and driving, use during pregnancy and lactation, use in pediatrics

For the treatment of pediatric children, the use of Mexidol is permitted only in cases of traumatic brain injuries and in the treatment of purulent neuroinfections. Input and monitoring of the child’s condition should be carried out by the attending physician.

The drug does not help expectant mothers recover quickly, but can only harm the intrauterine development of the fetus and provoke extensive pathologies. Clinical studies of such categories of patients have not been carried out, therefore the drug Mexidol is not prescribed during pregnancy. In addition, the medication is contraindicated during lactation.

The doctor independently, based on the individual characteristics of the patient’s body, selects the dosage of the drug for the patient and prescribes a regimen for taking the pills.

Mexidol is an antioxidant drug that realizes its effects through the inhibition of free radical processes. It also has membrane protective properties and can have nootropic, mild anticonvulsant, vasoactive and anxiolytic effects.

Taking Mexidol improves the functioning of synapses, enhances the mechanism of compensatory glycolysis and reduces the inhibition of oxidative processes in the Krebs cycle under conditions of low oxygen content in cells.

INSTRUCTIONS for medical use of the drug Mexidol ®

Registration number: LSR/07 dated 08/09/2007

Trade name of the drug: Mexidol

Chemical rational name: 2-ethyl-6-methyl-3-hydroxypyridine succinate.

Dosage form: film-coated tablets

Active substance: ethylmethylhydroxypyridine succinate mg, excipients: lactose monohydrate, sodium carboxymethylcellulose (carmellose sodium), magnesium stearate, shell: opadry II white (macrogol (polyethylene glycol), polyvinyl alcohol, talc, titanium dioxide).

Description: Tablets are round, biconvex, film-coated, from white to white with a creamy tint.

Pharmacotherapeutic group: antioxidant agent.

Pharmacological properties:

All these conditions are successfully relieved by the drug Mexidol. The question of when to inject Mexidol in the morning or evening worries many

Brief description of the drug

Mexidol is prescribed by a neurologist or cardiologist for the treatment of diseases of the brain, heart and nervous system. It helps perfectly both with mild vegetative-vascular disorders and with serious pathologies:

  • asthenic syndrome due to alcohol dependence;
  • acute cerebrovascular accident;
  • coronary heart disease;
  • stroke and heart attack;
  • severe intoxication with neuroleptics;
  • neurosis-like and psychosomatic disorders;
  • oxygen starvation of tissues of various etiologies (hypoxia).

It is actively used during the recovery period after traumatic brain injuries and purulent inflammation of the abdominal organs. Approved for use by almost everyone except children (under 12 years old) and pregnant women. It is well tolerated, with the rare exception of individual intolerance to the components.

Mexidol is produced in tablets and injections, which allows it to be used in different ways - orally, intramuscularly, intravenously. In this case, it can be administered in a stream or drip, depending on the severity of the condition. Doctors are inclined to believe that it is better to inject Mexidol for a more systemic and faster effect.

When is the best time to inject Mexidol?

The injection form of the drug is available in the form of a concentrated solution in ampoules. 1 ml of medicine contains 50 mg of the active substance (ethylmethylhydroxypyridine succinate). There are no universal instructions for use. In each individual clinical case, an individual treatment regimen and course duration are selected:

  • for mild autonomic disorders, an injection of Mexidol is given intramuscularly at a dosage of mg per day for 2-4 weeks;
  • severe conditions associated with dysfunction of cerebral circulation require drip or jet administration of the drug in an amount of mg 2-4 times a day

Most experts agree that Mexidol should be injected in the morning, that is, in the first half of the day. There is good reason for this recommendation. The drug has a tonic effect, it invigorates and activates the cardiovascular system. If you take the injection before bed, it will be difficult to fall asleep. Therefore, for a one-time use, it is advisable to give the injection in the morning. If the treatment regimen involves dividing it into several doses, then the evening procedure should be carried out several hours before bedtime.

Mexidol is used exclusively as prescribed by a doctor, so the nuances of the timing of the injection are discussed individually.

Mexidol tablets: instructions for use

Mexidol is an antioxidant drug that realizes its effects through the inhibition of free radical processes. It also has membrane protective properties and can have nootropic, mild anticonvulsant, vasoactive and anxiolytic effects.

Available in the form of biconvex round tablets of white or cream color. The active ingredient of Mexidol tablets isate, content 125 mg in 1 tablet. The substance was first synthesized in the 1980s at the State Research Institute of Pharmacology of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. Included in many standards for the provision of medical care in the Russian Federation. In addition to the active substance, the tablets contain excipients: macrogol, polyvinyl alcohol, talc and titanium compounds. It is also available in injections for intramuscular or intravenous injections.

Taking Mexidol improves the functioning of synapses, enhances the mechanism of compensatory glycolysis and reduces the inhibition of oxidative processes in the Krebs cycle under conditions of low oxygen content in cells.

Mexidol tablets and injections: instructions for use, analogues

Mexidol is a popular drug that was developed in 1996 by Russian scientists. Refers to a new generation of antioxidants, used to improve cerebral circulation. It is part of a group of nootropic drugs, the action of which is aimed at normalizing metabolic processes in brain cells and protecting them from free radicals. This allows Mexidol to be widely used in neurological practice.

Its use is not limited to one area of medicine; the drug is used to treat various pathologies in psychiatry, surgery and narcology. The unique properties of the antioxidant allow not only to restore memory, speech and skills lost as a result of a stroke or ischemic brain damage, but also increase the body's resistance to various intoxications and stressful situations. In addition, Mexidol, as part of complex therapy, helps to stop acute purulent-inflammatory processes in the abdominal cavity. Let us dwell in more detail on the therapeutic effect of this drug, methods of its use and tell you what it helps with.

Mexidol - the effect of the drug

Mexidol is an antioxidant agent with nootropic, antihypoxic, anticonvulsant and antistress effects. The main active ingredient is ethylmethylhydroxypyridine succinate. The main objective of the drug is to increase the body's resistance to the action of various damaging factors (hypoxia, cerebrovascular accident, ischemia, intoxication).

Mexidol helps improve blood microcirculation, better blood supply to the brain and restore metabolism in nerve cells. Under its action, the structure of cell membranes is stabilized, platelet aggregation is reduced, and cholesterol levels in the blood are reduced.

The nootropic effect of the drug is expressed in the activation of mental activity, increasing the ability to learn and assimilate information, and improving memory. As an antioxidant, the drug protects body cells from excessive oxidation, reduces the harmful effects of free radicals, slows down aging and increases the resistance of organs and tissues to oxygen starvation.

The use of Mexidol helps restore the disrupted sleep-wake cycle and reduce the rate of development of degenerative processes. When using the drug, the production of the “hormone of joy” - dopamine - increases, which makes Mexidol an excellent remedy for the treatment of depressive conditions.

This hormone helps relieve anxiety, suppresses anxiety and fear, and helps with sleep disorders, neurological and autonomic disorders. The drug has anti-stress, anticonvulsant and antihypoxic effects, promoting oxygen saturation in the blood.

The drug helps to weaken the toxic effect of alcohol, relieves acute withdrawal syndrome, restores behavioral disorders, and has an anticonvulsant effect. The combined use of Mexidol with tranquilizers, antidepressants, sleeping pills, and antipsychotics enhances their effect, which makes it possible to reduce the doses of these drugs and reduce adverse reactions.

When taken orally, Mexidol is quickly absorbed and distributed in organs and tissues. The drug is excreted from the body in the urine in the form of metabolites; a small amount of the drug is excreted unchanged. The greatest intensity of excretion is observed within 4 hours after taking a dose of the drug.

Instructions for use (tablets, solution for injections)

Photo: Instructions for use (tablets, solution for injections)

According to the instructions for use of Mexidol, the drug, when taken orally, is prescribed 1-2 tablets three times a day. At the beginning of treatment, the recommended dose is taken once or twice a day, then the frequency of administration is increased to achieve the desired effect. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 800 mg (6 tablets). The duration of treatment is from 2 to 6 weeks; to relieve withdrawal symptoms, it is enough to take the drug for 7 days.

Treatment cannot be abruptly interrupted; the dose should be gradually reduced over 3 days until the drug is completely discontinued. The optimal treatment regimen is selected by the doctor, taking into account the individual characteristics of the patient, general condition and severity of symptoms. For ischemic disease, the course of treatment is longer - up to 8 weeks; if necessary, the doctor can prescribe a second course of therapy after a break. The most optimal period for a second course of treatment is spring and autumn.

Mexidol solution can be administered intravenously and intramuscularly. Before infusion administration using a dropper, the drug should be diluted in an isotonic sodium chloride solution. The rate of drip infusion should not exceed drops per minute. The recommended volume of the drug is ml. The jet injection must be carried out very slowly, over 5-6 minutes.

For the treatment of acute cerebrovascular accidents, the drug should be infused according to a specific scheme. In the first day, the volume of intravenous mg is administered by intravenous drip from 2 to 4 times a day. In the next 2 weeks, intramuscular injections are carried out, administering the drug 2-3 times a day.

To eliminate the consequences of traumatic brain injury, the drug is administered by drip in a volume of 2 to 4 times a day, depending on the patient’s condition. The course of therapy is days.

For slowly progressing circulatory failure, the dose is selected individually by the attending physician. The drug is administered intravenously or by bolus once a day for 2 weeks. Further treatment is carried out using intramuscular injections.

For anxiety disorders and cognitive impairment in elderly people, the drug is administered intramuscularly in a daily dose of 100 to 300 mg. Treatment is carried out for 2-4 weeks.

To eliminate alcohol withdrawal, the medicine is infused intramuscularly or using a dropper. Perform 2-3 procedures per day, administering the drug in a volume of 200 to 500 mg.

For purulent abscesses of the abdominal cavity, Mexidol can be administered intravenously or intramuscularly the day before surgery, or on the first day after surgery. The dose is selected individually, it depends on the severity of the disease, the degree of damage and the general condition of the patient.

Contraindications

Contraindications to the use of the drug are:

  • Individual intolerance to the components of the drug
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding period
  • Childhood
  • Acute dysfunction of the liver and kidneys

Since the effect of the drug has not been sufficiently studied, it is not used to treat children, pregnant and lactating women. Particular caution is taken when using Mexidol in patients with hypertension, low blood pressure, arterial hypertension accompanied by crises.

The instructions for the drug say that it is not prescribed in childhood, but in pediatrics it is still used in the treatment of traumatic brain injuries and purulent neuroinfections. As an emergency aid for injuries, a single use of Mexidol at a dose of 100 mg is indicated. In other cases, the dose of the drug is selected individually by the pediatrician and depends on the child’s condition, the severity of the pathological process and the general clinical picture. The treatment is carried out under the supervision of a specialist.

Side effects from using the drug are minor. Mexidol is characterized by low toxicity and does not have a negative effect on blood composition, respiratory rhythm, or heart rate. In rare cases, adverse reactions from the gastrointestinal tract may occur. After taking the pills, symptoms of a dyspeptic nature are noted, which manifest themselves as discomfort and painful sensations in the abdomen.

Patients complain of nausea, heartburn, a feeling of fullness and heaviness in the abdomen. This condition may be accompanied by the development of diarrhea. In some cases, individual reactions are expressed in appetite disturbance, flatulence, a feeling of weakness, and lethargy. With increased sensitivity to the components of the drug, allergic reactions occur.

When treated with Mexidol solution, patients may experience attacks of nausea, increased dry mouth, weakness and drowsiness. In rare cases, allergic reactions develop.

Taking the drug in high doses can provoke surges in blood pressure, increased emotional excitability, symptoms of hyperhidrosis, and impaired coordination of movements. In case of overdose, gastric lavage and other methods of symptomatic therapy are used.

Drug interactions with other drugs

Mexidol has good compatibility with all drugs used to treat somatic diseases. Simultaneous use with neuroleptics, antidepressants, tranquilizers and anticonvulsants enhances their therapeutic effect, which allows you to reduce the dose of these drugs and avoid the development of unwanted side reactions of the body.

Mexidol reduces the toxic effect of ethanol and promotes the removal of alcohol from the body. This feature of the drug is used to eliminate withdrawal symptoms in the treatment of alcohol addiction.

The use of Mexidol in patients with bronchial asthma suffering from hypersensitivity to sulfites can cause the development of severe allergic reactions.

The drug can slow down the speed of reactions and reduce concentration, so it should be used with extreme caution when driving a vehicle or performing work involving dangerous mechanisms and requiring rapid psychomotor reactions.

Analogs

Mexidol has a number of analogues that are similar in composition and pharmacological action:

Many patients during treatment are interested in whether it is possible to replace Mexidol with cheaper analogues? Despite the fact that the drug is not cheap, it has established itself in the domestic market as the most effective and successful product. Many of its analogues, which have a similar therapeutic effect, differ only in the composition of the excipients and, according to the doctor’s decision, can be used as part of combination therapy together with Mexidol.

But it is not recommended to independently replace the medicine with analogues, since many of them have undesirable side effects or may have insufficient therapeutic effect. The decision to replace should be made by a specialist who will take into account possible contraindications and select the required dosage.

Average prices for the drug in the pharmacy chain:

  • Mexidol tablets (30 pieces) – rubles
  • Mexidol tablets (50 pieces) – rubles
  • Mexidol solution (5 ampoules) – rubles
  • Mexidol solution (10 ampoules) – rubles.
Reviews about the application

Vegeto - vascular dystonia is a very unpleasant companion that has been accompanying me for the last few years. It becomes especially unpleasant when the seasons change: incessant headaches, dizziness and drowsiness. I had to seek help from a local clinic. The doctor advised Mexidol intramuscularly.

I read the instructions for use and realized that it suits me. To be honest, I did not expect any stunning effect from the drug. However, Mexidol not only met all my expectations, but also became a savior for me. The injections themselves turned out to be painless, and after ten such procedures I felt like a human being.

A real person who leads an active life and does not constantly suffer from dizziness, migraines and loss of strength. Plus, my concentration has improved, I can now do anything and not fall asleep on the go or lie on the bed suffering from a headache. I did not find any side effects during the treatment. The course of treatment has ended, the therapeutic effect is still lasting. If in the future old problems make themselves felt, now I know what will help me out.

Review #2

I myself have not taken this drug, but I had the opportunity to see it in action with my own eyes. Grandfather had a mini-stroke, his leg was partially paralyzed, he dragged it a lot when walking, speech was difficult. The attending physician prescribed Mexidol as one of the elements of complex treatment. As a result, after taking this drug, my grandfather began to feel better.

Over time, speech returned to normal, memory returned, and you can communicate with him as before. Today, no signs of the attack are visible. Grandfather talks, walks independently, leads a normal lifestyle. Everything returned to normal, and I am sure that Mexidol contributed to this.

My work involves mental activity. I have to spend almost the whole day at the computer. I began to suffer from severe headaches. The attacks were so strong that nausea set in. I went to the clinic. We carried out an examination and the doctor said that the headaches were caused by increased intracranial pressure and deterioration of cerebral circulation.

That is why I started having these attacks. The doctor prescribed Mexidol. I was afraid that the price would be too high, but for such an effective drug it turned out to be quite acceptable. I bought a pack of tablets (50 pieces) and started taking them. Within a week after starting treatment, the headache began to hurt less. And the work became easier, my concentration improved.

True, I felt discomfort in my stomach for some time, and dry mouth appeared, but these phenomena soon passed. After a month of taking the drug, I completely forgot about headaches. I even slept better. Two months have passed since the course of treatment, and so far everything is good: my head doesn’t hurt, I feel much better.

Instructions for use of the drug "Mexidol"

Mexidol comes with instructions for use, which allow you to understand all the properties of the drug, recommendations for use, and contraindications. The medication is sold in pharmacies only with a doctor's prescription, complete with official instructions from the manufacturer.

Composition of the drug and its pharmacological properties

The 1st ampoule of solution contains 50 mg of ethylmethylhydroxypyridine succinite. Auxiliary components: sodium metabisulfite, saline solution, magnesium stearate, sodium carmellose, lactose monohydrate, polyvinyl alcohol, talc, titanium dioxide. "Mexidol" tablets contain 125 mg of active substance.

The drug belongs to the group of nootropics and has a positive effect on all mental processes in the human body. Under the influence of the drug, many pathological changes stop their development. Thanks to the action of the medicine, a person sleeps better.

All this is achieved due to the fact that the active component in the drug is able to restore the functionality of cell membranes and remove free radicals from the body. Taking the drug helps saturate the blood with oxygen, relieves stress, and has anticonvulsant and antioxidant effects. Thanks to improved circulation in the circulatory system, cholesterol levels are reduced and the physiological qualities of plasma are improved (viscosity, flow rate, etc.). In cellular mitochondria, the drug promotes the active formation of energy, and in nerve cells the transmission of synoptic impulses is significantly accelerated.

It is recommended to take Mexidol in combination with tranquilizers, antidepressants, antipsychotics, hypnotics and anticonvulsants. The active substance in the medicine only enhances the effect of the above medications. This combination allows you to reduce the dose, which eliminates many side effects.

Mexidol is widely used in dentistry.

Treatment with Mexidol during pregnancy is not recommended, since there is no reliable data on clinical studies on patients taking this drug during pregnancy.

The drug is often used in complex therapy of children with traumatic brain injuries and purulent neuroinfections. A single dosage is prescribed only by the attending physician. The child is closely monitored while taking the medicine.

In what situations is it used and possible contraindications?

The use of the drug "Mexidol" is indicated for the following diseases:

  • vegetative-vascular dystonia;
  • disturbances of speech function, intellectual activity, memory and attention;
  • vascular diseases in brain tissue;
  • withdrawal syndrome that occurs during alcoholism;
  • neuroses;
  • poisoning with antipsychotic drugs;
  • inflammatory processes with purulent formations in the peritoneal organs.

Taking the drug is contraindicated for persons who have an individual intolerance to Mexidol. It is also not recommended to drink Mexidol in case of acute renal and liver failure.

The medicine is practically non-toxic, so the side effects of Mexidol occur very rarely. Regardless of dosage, it does not affect the patient's physical activity level or physiological functions. All reflexes, hemodynamic processes, blood pressure, body temperature remain normal. An overdose may cause nausea and drowsiness. Dry mouth occurs, but quickly goes away on its own. Hypersensitivity to the active substance sometimes causes allergic manifestations in the form of a skin rash.

Due to the drug’s ability to quickly remove toxins and free radicals from the body, it is used to relieve painful symptoms of alcohol intoxication.

Types of drug

"Mexidol" tablets. The initial dosage is 1 – 2 tablets 2 times a day, after which the frequency of administration is increased to 3 times a day. Treatment therapy lasts on average 2–6 weeks, depending on the severity of the disease and the general condition of the patient. The dosage is gradually reduced, approaching the completion of the therapeutic course of treatment. So, people suffering from alcohol addiction drank Mexidol for 7 days.

Rinsing and applying applications. In dental practice, Mexidol injection solutions are successfully used for rinsing the mouth and washing periodontal pockets. Local applications with the solution have a good effect. Procedures must be performed regularly, at least 3 times a day. Treatment takes as long as necessary to achieve positive dynamics in the development of the pathology.

Injection. The 5% solution is produced in ampoules of 2 ml. It can be used for intravenous, intramuscular injections, droppers. Saline solution is used as a solvent.

The dose is strictly individually selected by the attending physician depending on the purpose, disease and severity of its course. Treatment is started with the minimum dose, then increased to the maximum allowable. Up to 0.8 g of the drug can be administered per day.

Treatment of dementia in older patients is carried out using intramuscular injections. The drug, administered intravenously, is good for acute intoxication of the body and inflammatory diseases of the peritoneal organs.

The drug "Mexidol" is well absorbed and quickly eliminated from the body. It undergoes breakdown in the liver within 5 hours after the first dose, then is completely excreted in the urine.

"Mexidol" in dentistry

Due to the property of Mexidol to have an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effect, it is widely used in dentistry as a therapeutic and prophylactic agent for stomatitis, gingivitis, and caries. It is added to toothpaste, which fights periodontitis, stops bleeding gums, reduces their sensitivity, eliminates pathogenic bacteria, and significantly increases immunity in the oral cavity. After regular use of Mexidol Dent toothpaste, patients note healing of wounds, restoration of the oral mucosa, and the disappearance of unpleasant odor.

It is recommended to brush your teeth with Mexidol Dent 3 times a day or after meals. If gum sensitivity is excessively high, then doctors prescribe Mexidol Dent Sensitive. The paste contains potassium nitrate. This substance allows you to block nerve endings, which reduces the overall sensitivity of teeth that occurs in many diseases. With regular use of the paste, many painful symptoms go away.

Toothpaste has an effective whitening effect and quickly relieves inflammation. Plaque is removed with papain. It contains calcium citrate and hydroxyapatite. These substances penetrate deep into the enamel of the teeth after the plaque from their surface is completely removed. For a long period of time, teeth remain fresh, clean and white.

The effect of Mexidol in the treatment of other diseases

For the drug to be effective, it is necessary to adhere to a strictly defined treatment regimen:

  1. If blood circulation in the brain tissue is impaired, the drug is administered via a dropper for 2 weeks. The maximum permissible dose per day is 500 mg. Then they begin to gradually reduce the dosage of the drug, bringing it to 250 mg per day.
  2. Encephalopathy in the acute phase. The medicine is administered intravenously 2 times a day for 2 weeks. The dosage ranges from 250 to 500 ml of Mexidol. After this, over the next 2 weeks, reduce the administration of the drug to half the original dosage.
  3. Mild disorders of the mental processes of the central nervous system in older patients require treatment with intramuscular injections. The course of therapy ranges from 2 weeks to 30 days. 100–300 ml of the drug is administered. The medication is also used to prevent many mental illnesses.
  4. To eliminate alcohol withdrawal syndrome or withdrawal, the doctor prescribes up to 250 mg of Mexidol, administered intravenously or intramuscularly. The duration of treatment is 5 – 6 days.
  5. Poisoning with antipsychotics occurs from uncontrolled use of the drug. Painful symptoms are quickly relieved with intravenous injections with a maximum dose of 500 mg.
  6. In case of purulent infections of the peritoneum, as well as inflammatory processes of its organs, Mexidol is used from the first hours after surgery. The doctor calculates the dosage of the drug depending on the severity of the disease, form and individual characteristics. As soon as the therapeutic effect is achieved, the drug begins to be gradually withdrawn.
  7. Acute pancreatitis, accompanied by edema. A maximum dosage of up to 500 mg per day 3 times a day is allowed. The medication is administered using a dropper or intramuscularly.
  8. Moderate purulent pancreatitis. Treat only with a dropper using 200 mg of the drug. The course of treatment lasts from 2 to 4 weeks. Droppers must be placed 3 times a day.
  9. Necrotizing pancreatitis. Treatment is prescribed using a large dose (up to 500 mg per day). The medicine is administered intravenously for 2 weeks. After this, they begin to gradually reduce the dosage.

Necrotizing pancreatitis is extremely severe. It is necessary to take up to 800 mg of medication per day or until the painful symptoms and shock completely disappear. After the patient's condition becomes stable, the dosage is gradually reduced. The medication is administered only after meals.

Analogs

Mexidol appeared on the domestic market relatively recently, but has already established itself due to its effectiveness and speed of action. However, its clinical studies have not yet been fully completed and continue to this day. If a drug does not give a good result over a certain period of time, then it is necessary to replace it with a drug of a similar composition and effect. The choice is made only by the doctor, based on the individual characteristics of the patient, the type of disease and its severity.

"Mexiprim" is an analogue of the Russian "Mexidol", produced in Germany. Mexiprim and Mexidol have the same active ingredient. The only difference is in the composition of the excipients. If you compare which is better - Mexidol or Mexiprim, then it is advisable to leave the choice to your doctor. Before you start using Mexiprim, you must carefully study the instructions for use.

In addition to Mexiprim, the medicine has many other analogues: Cavinton, Mildronate, Neurox, Cortexin, Nootropil and others.

As for Cavinton, it is not advisable to take it simultaneously with Mexidol. When used separately, both drugs give excellent results in therapeutic therapy. "Cavinton" gives a positive effect when trying to restore cerebral circulation, improve blood pressure, and restore the supply of oxygen to brain tissue. This drug is often used in the treatment of ophthalmological diseases and ENT organs.

"Neurox" is a complete analogue of "Mexidol", since it contains the same active component.

INSTRUCTIONS for medical use of the drug Mexidol ®

Registration number: LSR/07 dated 08/09/2007

Trade name of the drug: Mexidol

Chemical rational name: 2-ethyl-6-methyl-3-hydroxypyridine succinate.

Dosage form: film-coated tablets

Active substance: ethylmethylhydroxypyridine succinate mg, excipients: lactose monohydrate, sodium carboxymethylcellulose (carmellose sodium), magnesium stearate, shell: opadry II white (macrogol (polyethylene glycol), polyvinyl alcohol, talc, titanium dioxide).

Description: Tablets are round, biconvex, film-coated, from white to white with a creamy tint.

Pharmacotherapeutic group: antioxidant agent.

Pharmacological properties:
