The incident occurred on August 3, when 44-year-old Alexander Lopakhin walked 10 - 12 km from the village, where he usually goes to pick mushrooms. A mother bear and her cub suddenly found themselves in the man's path and immediately pounced on him, protecting the cub.

Two local police officers opened fire from the PM when the bear was jumping at them with two-meter leaps. The bear stopped, jumped back and forth. The police say that the bear did not have cubs, which means she did not protect the cubs from people.
