Banished: Modified banishment. Banished v1.0.7 - full version in Russian

If you are faced with the fact that Banished slows down, crashes, Banished does not start, Banished does not install, controls do not work in Banished, there is no sound, errors pop up, saves do not work in Banished - we offer you the most common ways to solve these problems.

First, check whether your PC's specifications meet the minimum system requirements:

  • OS: Windows XP/Vista/7/8
  • Processor: Dual Core 2.0 GHz
  • Memory: 512 MB
  • Video: 512 MB
  • HDD: 250 MB
  • DirectX: 9.0c

Be sure to update your video card drivers and other software

Before you remember the worst words and express them towards the developers, do not forget to go to the official website of the manufacturer of your video card and download the latest drivers. Often, drivers specially optimized for them are prepared for the release of games. You can also try installing a later version of drivers if the problem is not solved by installing the current version.

It is important to remember that you should only download the final versions of video cards - try not to use beta versions, as they may have a large number of unfound and unfixed errors.

Do not forget that for stable operation of games, installation of the latest version of DirectX is often required, which can always be downloaded from the official Microsoft website.

Banished won't start

Many problems with launching games occur due to incorrect installation. Check if there were any errors during installation, try uninstalling the game and running the installer again, after disabling the antivirus - often files necessary for the game to work are deleted by mistake. It is also important to remember that the path to the folder with the installed game should not contain Cyrillic characters - use only Latin letters and numbers for directory names.

It also doesn’t hurt to check if there is enough space on the HDD for installation. You can try to run the game as Administrator in compatibility mode for different versions of Windows.

Banished is slow. Low FPS. Lags. Friezes. Freezes

First, install the latest drivers for your video card; this can significantly increase the FPS in the game. Also check your computer's load in the task manager (opened by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ESCAPE). If before starting the game you see that some process is consuming too many resources, turn off its program or simply end this process from the task manager.

Next, go to the graphics settings in the game. First of all, turn off anti-aliasing and try lowering the post-processing settings. Many of them consume a lot of resources and disabling them will significantly improve performance without significantly affecting the picture quality.

Banished crashes to the desktop

If Banished often crashes to your desktop slot, try to start solving the problem by reducing the quality of the graphics. It is possible that your computer simply does not have enough performance and the game cannot run correctly. It's also worth checking for updates - most modern games have a system for automatically installing new patches. Check if this option is disabled in the settings.

Black screen in Banished

More often than not, the problem with a black screen is an issue with the GPU. Check if your video card meets the minimum requirements and install the latest drivers. Sometimes a black screen is a result of insufficient CPU performance.

If everything is fine with the hardware and it meets the minimum requirements, try switching to another window (ALT+TAB), and then returning to the game window.

Banished is not installed. Installation stuck

First of all, check if you have enough HDD space for installation. Remember that for the installation program to work correctly, the stated amount of space is required, plus 1-2 gigabytes of free space on the system disk. In general, remember the rule - there should always be at least 2 gigabytes of free space on the system disk for temporary files. Otherwise, both games and programs may not work correctly or may refuse to start at all.

Installation problems can also occur due to a lack of Internet connection or unstable operation. Also, do not forget to pause the antivirus while installing the game - sometimes it interferes with the correct copying of files or deletes them by mistake, considering them viruses.

Saves don't work in Banished

By analogy with the previous solution, check the availability of free space on the HDD - both on the one where the game is installed and on the system drive. Often save files are stored in a documents folder, which is located separately from the game itself.

Controls don't work in Banished

Sometimes game controls do not work due to multiple input devices being connected at the same time. Try disabling the gamepad or, if for some reason you have two keyboards or mice connected, leave only one pair of devices. If your gamepad does not work, then remember that games are officially supported only by controllers defined as Xbox joysticks. If your controller is detected differently, try using programs that emulate Xbox joysticks (for example, x360ce).

Sound doesn't work in Banished

Check if the sound works in other programs. After this, check whether the sound is turned off in the game settings and whether the sound playback device to which your speakers or headset is connected is selected there. Next, while the game is running, open the mixer and check if the sound there is muted.

If you are using an external sound card, check for new drivers on the manufacturer's website.

Banished is both an excellent city building simulator and a good economic strategy in which you need to create a new settlement. Under your leadership is a small group of people and few resources. Start with simple things: build several houses, a pasture, a hut for a forester and a hunter, organize the extraction of essential resources. In addition, watch over your citizens: appoint the right people to the right jobs, make sure that in winter there is something to eat and people simply do not freeze. The game Banished clearly responds to all your actions, for example, cutting down the forest will bring you wood from which you can build various buildings, but it will also affect the migration of wild animals that you previously used for food. Also, fishing from one reservoir can lead to its depletion, and previously fertile lands are quickly depleted if they are not looked after. Even nomads who want to join and help your settlement can bring a deadly disease. Banished requires constant attention and control over even the smallest details, but that is precisely why this game is so good.

The game is still in the testing stage, so if any errors occur, don't be too upset, just wait for the final. Surprisingly, the game takes up less than 100 megabytes, yet it looks very beautiful and has enormous gaming capabilities. Build schools, houses, hospitals, roads and bridges - create a real huge city from a small settlement. Treasure each of your people - this is the path to success. And don’t forget to go through training first to understand the basic nuances of the game.

Gamers often encounter problems in computer games. Some of them are related to performance on their computers, others are related to problems in game files and bugs. There is a solution for almost every problem, especially when it comes to gaming. In this article you will learn what to do if there is no sound in the game, and what ways you can get it back. Methods for solving the problem from the side of the game itself, as well as from the hardware and software of a personal computer, are considered.

There is no sound in the game: what should I do?

First, let's list all the reasons that can affect the lack of sound in a computer game:

  • problems with game files;
  • problems with settings in the game;
  • malfunctions in the operating system settings;
  • damaged drivers;
  • equipment malfunction.

To fix the problem, let's start by setting up the game itself. It is possible that due to inattention or inexperience, you caused there to be no sound in the game due to incorrectly set parameters in the game menu.

Game settings

To get started, launch the game and go to the settings menu. It may be located in different places and called differently, but the essence will remain the same - this section of the menu contains all the technical, graphic and sound settings. Once you've found your audio settings, try setting all the sliders to maximum and saving your changes. Some games will require a reboot - please do so.

If after this there is no sound in the game, then you need to check its presence in the operating system itself. Check or run video/audio to see if the computer plays third-party tunes that are not related to the game. If everything is fine, then the problem is not related to the computer hardware or operating system.

Let's get back to the game itself. Perhaps reinstalling will help solve the problem. If you are using a licensed version purchased on a digital platform, for example, on Steam, then through it you can check the integrity of the files and download damaged ones, if any. You can do it like this:

  1. Open the list of games and right-click on the one you want.
  2. Select "Properties" from the menu.
  3. Go to the “Local Files” tab and click on the “Check integrity of game files...” button.
  4. After checking and downloading the damaged components, try to check the solution to the problem again. If there is still no sound in the game, move on to the next method.

OS settings

Before checking your operating system settings, be sure to make sure that sound is present in system notifications and other multimedia components (for example, video playback on a website, etc.). If Sound is missing everywhere, then you need to check the settings in the OS.

First, look at the taskbar and find the sound icon. By clicking on it, you can adjust the volume level to the desired level. You may have accidentally muted the sound.

Now you need to open the mixer. To do this, right-click on the icon and select “Open volume mixer”. If the required game has been launched, then find the corresponding column in the mixer and raise its level to the maximum.

If after all the operations performed there is no sound in the game, then you need to proceed to checking the equipment. To do this, you need to use the standard OS functionality, which is described below.

Hardware settings

Often the problem is faulty drivers. To check you need to do the following:

  1. In the search bar on the taskbar, enter the query “device manager”.
  2. Go to the program and find the subsection with audio equipment. Pay attention to whether the equipment is marked with an exclamation mark. If it is next to the icon, then you need to reinstall the driver.
  3. Now right-click on the desired hardware and select “Update Driver”.
  4. You can trust the operating system to check, or install the driver manually. For the second method, you need to download the distribution kit to your computer in advance and specify the path to it on your hard drive.
  5. Wait until the procedure is completed and be sure to restart your computer. After this, try starting the game again and checking for sound.

Now you know, in the game - check the settings, file integrity, reinstall the driver, check that the equipment is connected correctly. However, the methods described do not provide a 100% guarantee of getting rid of the problem. If nothing works for you and there is no sound in the game, then try contacting developer support.

The essence of the problem

Few people experience the lack of sound in the game, but a number of users may experience this problem. Including me. After digging around the forum, it turns out that even the developers themselves for the time being did not know about this problem and did not know how to solve it. No wonder - it’s so unlikely.
Good people have already found what the problem is and found a solution (I won’t provide a link to the correspondence between players and developers on the forum, because I didn’t save it). All this is in the English-language part of Steam. We present to your attention a free retelling and translation:

Who's to blame?

When creating the game, the developers used a set of tools Microsoft XNA Framework. The problem is that XNA required for correct operation Windows Media Player. I, in turn, decided that Windows Media no longer my friend. And he deleted it.
If you don't have sound, think about it! Maybe you did the same? It may also happen that you installed a pirated assembly of the operating system (don’t tell anyone about this! This is important) and the player is not installed by default. Happens...

Anyway, for the sound to appear Windows Media Player needs to be put back in place.

For those who deleted the player themselves and know how to get it back, there is no point in reading further. For everyone else, the recipe:

What to do?

Let's go "Start" -> "Control Panel" -> "Uninstall a program". A window will open "Programs and Features". In the left menu of the window that opens, find the item "Turn Windows features on or off" and click on it. A window will open again, this time a small one.
Here you need to scroll the mouse wheel and find the item "Components for working with multimedia". You can install them all if they don't bother you. But it is enough to return to the system only Windows Media Player. Check the box next to the player and click OK. Wait.
You may need to restart your computer, but this is unlikely.

That's it, the player is back in action and if you start the game you can hear the sound. Don't forget to turn on music in the game settings , she won't do it herself.

Alternative method. Without installing Windows Media Player

If you do not want to install WMP on your computer, or the first option did not help you, or is disgusting for religious, ethical or some other reasons, then you can get by by installing dll files from it into the system.

You need two dll files namely wmp.dll And wmploc.dll. Luckily, you already have them. Windows carefully stores them, I don’t know why, excuse me. Use the search and find them. Here are step-by-step instructions for where, how and what to do:

  • Find the file wmp.dll in the directory C:\Windows\winsxs\(spare parts for your OS are stored there). Mine was found in the folder C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-mediaplayer-core_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.23041_none_69f5bbc37ef22fc6
  • Copy it and wmploc.dll V C:\Windows\SysWOW64
  • Go to menu Start>Run and enter the command "regsvr32 c:\windows\syswow64\wmp.dll"(without quotes). This will register a new one wmp.dll on your system. wmploc.dll You don’t need to register, it’ll do just fine.
  • Agree to make changes when asked.
  • Ready. Launch the game, play. Don't forget to turn on the sound in the game settings.

Attention!!!: I found this method on the Internet and have not tested it myself. I'm lazy. By the way, in English-language forums they checked it and are happy like children. If some kind person checks it in Russian, please write back, I will be very grateful.
Here's a link to the first one

It's finished. The creator of Banished, the game of the year according to all honest, unpaid media, has finally completed the mod kit and integrated Steam Workshop into it.

Actually, a significant event happened back in August, but integration with Steam began working in beta version relatively recently. Banished is great in its own right, but the lack of content, or rather... variations existing content remains a weak point of the game. Blaming its creator for this, who single-handedly worked on the game all this time, is somehow inhumane and selfish. He gave gamers a real gift this year: an original, serious, strong game in a genre that is not particularly popular among major studios. Thanks to him for this, and now, as was customary to say about Bethesda games, the rest will be finished by the modders.

No addons or DLC, only mods!

Of course, there is such a problem with Banished and mods that the very essence of the mechanics of this game is painful survival, when one small mistake, one untimely decision leads to a domino effect and very far-reaching consequences. Some mods, no matter how good the intentions of their authors, can shift this balance into the “god mode” zone, and thereby ruin the game. It is, in fact, about exiles who have already arrived(or maybe they arrived) and are trying to recreate a human settlement in the wilderness, from scratch. There is no system for opening previously inaccessible buildings, no idiotic mission stuck in “for show.” Any building, even the most resource-intensive one, can be built literally in the first minutes of the game; that is, the gameplay involves moderate benefits from all buildings.

But considering mods for Banished only from the point of view of balance is also somehow stupid, this is not Starcraft. In my opinion, the world of Banished is not contained in simple calculations of resources and assessment of town statistics; This game, which has no plot or any mythology of its own, presents a philosophical question about the advisability of continuing human life using the example of the survival of a small commune.

What can you sacrifice for the common good? Health - the characters in Banished are able to live many winters on the street, running into the only house in the entire village to bask, but this, as expected, has a bad effect on their well-being and life expectancy. The advantage is that old people who live out their lives alone and thereby prevent new families from moving into the house, players who are well aware of the danger of the “missed generation” are forcibly “evicted” into a hostel or try to “compact” with other lonely old people. And finally, until the recent patch, settlers sacrificed their lives by going on long journeys for resources.

If there is no mission or end goal, is all this sacrifice worthwhile? Only if the life of the community becomes better. Happiness is present in the game as an objective value, so it is easy to assess the meaningfulness of a particular virtual village. Therefore, you shouldn’t completely discard all mods that could potentially simplify the gameplay; they must first be disassembled and checked for compliance with the entire concept of the game. In addition, you need to take into account aesthetics and atmosphere: poorly executed or inappropriate mods (survival in a pseudo-medieval settlement in a temperate climate) are distracting and prevent you from properly immersing yourself in the game.

So, if you go by the criteria listed above, you can immediately discard most gameplay tweaks like “faster roads” and “more resources extracted”, because they only simplify the gameplay, but do not add additional options or change the overall atmosphere.

Convincing victory over the main enemy of the settlers: those who do not want to be leveled by the hill

But the Flatten Terrain Tool, on the contrary, should be in the mod folder of every Banished fan. Since the game lacks commands to carry out excavation work, every tiny hillock in the middle of a flat area could become an insurmountable obstacle. The tool itself is quite inconvenient; you cannot undo the results of its work, so you should save before using it. The “imprint” left after leveling in the form of crosses must be removed using the “remove structure” option existing in the game. Unfortunately, no one has made any analogues yet.

Unfortunately, the original apiary, which is included as an example in the Banished toolkit, suffers from one significant drawback: it produces too many resources from nothing. That is, it is enough to build it anywhere, and it will produce honey all year round in huge quantities. The presence of nearby gardens, forests or fields also does not affect the products in any way. There are already mod options with more modest performance - we just have to wait until someone figures out how to make the apiary work only in conjunction with gardens. And not in winter.

Bees in Banished: special, frost-resistant

The mod with a cheese factory is similar to an apiary (including in appearance, since the model is the same, with minor changes), but it is better thought out: it uses a resource that, to everyone’s surprise, local cows began to provide - milk. You can use it to make your choice of cheese, yogurt or sour cream. Now cows have become extremely useful animals, since they immediately produce three resources (milk, meat and leather).

Keep in mind that you will need quite a lot of livestock. A dozen animals for one cheese factory is not enough

"Adam and Eve" is a mod for masochistic gamers: it adds a starting condition in which the game starts with a family of two people. It would be nice if in this mode it was also possible to model the impact of inbreeding, for example, to reduce life expectancy in subsequent generations. If you think about it, the same pattern should have worked for the most difficult game mode.

The bakery and mill for Banished is a project not of a simple modder, but of an indie developer, one of the creators of Amnesia. The buildings look very beautiful, a lot of effort was spent on them, but the result is worthy: the mill makes flour from wheat and corn, the bakery bakes bread from this flour.

The wings of the mill do not move, and, unfortunately, there is no sound

Another good mod that those who like to grow a large village will appreciate is a sawmill with a water wheel. It, unlike an apiary, is properly balanced: three people at a sawmill produce a little less firewood than they would chop individually. But the pre-existing wood splitting area occupies 36 squares of flat space, and a sawmill measuring 54 squares is being built on the shore, where previously only a fishing pier and a trading port could be placed.

The sawmill wheel is also not animated, but the model looks good

Additionally, next to the sawmill you can place specialized sites for storing resources, which are added by the Specialized Stockpiles mod. Simple, but very convenient. Another similar modification regarding the distribution of produced goods: different options for shops, functionally similar to the market, but smaller in size and territory coverage. Smaller Vendor Buildings Compilation is just the thing if you, like me, love maps with a lot of lakes and rivers and small islands. Since the market in Banished serves as an important distribution point for all resources, including four types of food, failure to use it due to lack of space for construction risks the settlers taking one type of food from the granary (fish!) and their health gradually deteriorating. Realistic - yes, but the market size is too large to fully justify this realism.

New shops of different sizes make it easier to plan your town

The small church mod from the author of RedKetchup serves the same purpose: saving space. The model, let's say, is made very roughly, but fits well into the overall design of the game.

The church looks like a barn, but the settlers have nothing to choose from

Another creative attempt by the same modder to reimagine the environment in Banished is a set of decorative items. Looks much worse. The “greenhouse” looks especially funny: it is similar to modern buildings, only the texture is entirely “wooden”. And even if you don’t criticize the appearance, in Europe in the Middle Ages and up to the Renaissance, the predecessors of modern greenhouses and conservatories were entertainment for the rich, and not something that a handful of convicts would think of building.

“Greenhouse”: a pseudo-medieval relative of the tabletop greenhouse for cacti from Ikea

But what's most annoying about the latest mod is that it adds an additional menu item to the game and moves the menu with tools for collecting resources and removing buildings to the right. A new key for tools is not assigned, and you have to click on the menu - very inconvenient.

I can’t help but warn you about a bunch of problems that naturally appear with mods. Firstly, not all of them are compatible, so read the descriptions carefully before downloading and enabling them, and in some cases you will need to create a new game. The mods listed above work more or less well together, but errors can still occur: for now, the main source of problems is the overflow of the incoming merchant's goods list. If after installing the mod a fatal error begins to appear, then you need to turn it off in the Mods menu in the game, unsubscribe from updates in the Workshop tab and delete the files from the disk. According to some reports, cleaning the registry helps without removing mods.

Overall, as dear Comrade Prime Minister would say, gaming freedom is better than lack of freedom. I hope that Banished will be able to repeat the fate of SimCity 4 - it will become a game whose life will naturally be extended by grateful fans.
