Light chemical peeling at home. How is a chemical peel done? Restrictions on the procedure

Chemical peeling at home is an excellent way to achieve perfect skin at no extra cost, eliminate problems with acne, blackheads and delay aging. By applying a special composition filled with one or more acids to the face, you can correct skin imperfections. When choosing home peels over salon peels, it is important to consider the risk of complications. Even a minor error in the procedure and exceeding the concentration of the product will leave unpleasant consequences after cleansing.

What is a chemical peel?

Our skin is made up of many cells. The life of each of them is short-lived, only 28 days. If in youth the skin is able to independently get rid of dead cells and replace them with new and elastic ones, then with age this process slows down, and non-working particles accumulate, forming layers. Such accumulations worsen the condition of the skin, clog pores and prevent the flow of nutrients and oxygen into the epidermis. It is at this moment that you should discover what peeling is.

Dead cells are “weights” of the skin; they weaken the internal framework of the integument and interfere with the normal functioning of other, healthy cells. The main task of cosmetology and peeling is not only to eliminate these “weighting agents”, but also to minimally injure the skin.

Chemical peeling is the best way to quickly and efficiently cleanse the skin, but it uses aggressive components (concentrated acids, alkali).

The essence of chemical facial peeling is quite simple: an acidic composition is applied to the face, which burns out the top layer of cells. Damage to the integument causes active regeneration and renewal of fibers. New fabrics differ from previous ones in elasticity and softness, and accordingly the face looks younger. In addition, “new” skin easily absorbs beneficial components from skincare products, thereby increasing their effectiveness.

What types of exfoliation are there?

There are several classifications of chemical facial peels. This is influenced by the degree and depth of acid exposure, as well as the composition of the product used (exfoliant).

Based on the depth of impact, facial skin peels are classified as superficial, medium and deep.

  • Superficial peelings are the easiest and most gentle procedures, because chemical exposure is limited to the upper layers of the epidermis. They are easily tolerated and rarely cause complications.
  • Medium peels are a more serious intervention; the chemical ingredient affects the deeper layers of the skin. This procedure is very stressful for the skin, but the end result significantly exceeds expectations. After a mid-peel, the skin needs good support and high-quality post-peel care. The speed of fiber recovery and the ease of the rehabilitation period depend on this.
  • Deep peeling is comparable in effectiveness even to surgical intervention. Acids affect all layers of the epidermis, right down to the reticular dermis. The slightest violation in performing cleansing. The lack of professionalism of the performer and failure to comply with the requirements for caring for damaged fibers can lead to serious complications and even residual scars, discolored spots on the face and other complications.

Chemical peeling of the face at home is recommended to be done only superficially; in rare cases, deeper effects are allowed. Deep peeling at home is impossible. Such chemical cleaning requires sterile conditions and high professionalism.

Based on the composition of the acid exfoliation product used, they are divided into single-acid and multi-acid.

  • Multi-acid peels allow for a comprehensive effect on the skin, strengthening epidermal cells, normalizing their functioning and the functioning of the sebaceous glands, moisturizing and whitening. Each of the acids used makes its contribution to improving the quality of the skin, so after such procedures the face looks fresh and glows with health.
  • Mono-acid products are recommended for use when the problem is pronounced, in order to eliminate it. For example, to combat acne, dry or oily skin, against the first signs of aging or skin pigmentation.

For home chemical peeling, the following acids are considered the safest, but at the same time highly effective:

  • glycolic;
  • dairy;
  • retinoic;
  • apple;
  • pyruvic;
  • lemon;
  • salicylic;
  • trichloroacetic and others.

The choice of acid for exfoliation depends on your own preferences, the condition of the skin and the degree of the problem. But in any case, before doing facial peeling at home using aggressive components, it is recommended to visit a cosmetologist.

Pros and cons of the procedure

Chemical peeling for the face has proven its effectiveness with unambiguous recognition from women and men. This is the most popular procedure in beauty salons.

Today, cosmetic companies offer those who cannot visit a beauty salon to perform it at home. For this purpose, separate, safer acid compositions have been created. Using them according to the manufacturer's recommendations, you can achieve excellent results.

The main advantages of home acid peels:

  • There is no need to wait for an appointment with a cosmetologist, find time to visit a beauty salon, and even postpone your own plans. At-home chemical peels can be done at a time convenient for you.
  • Financial savings. For chemical peeling at home, you can use ready-made cosmetic products and available products (fruit juices, aspirin, inexpensive pharmaceutical drugs). There is no need to overpay for the services of a professional.

There are also negative aspects of home cleansing:

  • High risk of harming yourself due to insufficient experience in cosmetology. An error in choosing an acidic product, improper exfoliation and exceeding the exposure time can negatively affect the skin and cause complications.
  • Systematic implementation is required. One procedure of home peeling with acids will not provide the same result as in a beauty salon. This is due to the lower percentage of acidity of the composition. To achieve a significant effect, be patient.

Chemical peeling at home is not able to eliminate significant skin problems, but it will perfectly complement facial care, delay the earlier appearance of wrinkles and sagging skin, partially correct existing imperfections and prevent their deepening in the future.

Indications and contraindications

It is recommended to carry out home facial peeling with acids at the first signs of skin aging. Indications for chemical exfoliation include:

  • grayness, dullness of the epidermis;
  • flabbiness, decreased natural tone;
  • loss of elasticity of soft tissues, their sagging on the cheeks;
  • frequent single rashes, acne and comedones;
  • clogged and enlarged pores, blackheads on the face;
  • first facial wrinkles;
  • oily skin shine.

Before doing facial peeling with chemical compounds, consult a specialist to see if it can be done and how to do it correctly, without complications. During the consultation, the cosmetologist will examine your skin for contraindications.

It is unacceptable to perform facial peeling at home in the following cases:

  • are allergic to the components of the product;
  • for ulcers, wounds on the face, as well as for exacerbation of acne;
  • there is herpes on the face or there are oncological tumors, papillomas;
  • there is inflammation in the treated area;
  • for disorders of the nervous system and severe disorders of any of the body systems;
  • during exacerbation of chronic diseases:
  • the patient feels unwell and has a fever;
  • during pregnancy and lactation;
  • at an early age (up to 18 years).

Safety precautions for home cleaning

How to do peeling correctly so as not to harm yourself and complicate the situation even more? It is difficult to predict all the subtleties and possible questions when performing cleansing, but the basic rules are worth discussing:

  • Before exfoliating at home for the first time or when using a new composition, be sure to test for individual sensitivity to the product used.
  • The preferred time for peeling is late autumn and winter. The sun's rays at this time have less impact on the skin, especially with weakened protective properties.
  • When choosing an exfoliation technique and composition, rely on your skin type, study the comments on the product, and warnings for use.
  • The peeling product is applied evenly in a thin layer. Do not touch the area near the eyes, lips, so as not to dry out the fine fibers.
  • Carefully read the instructions for the product before using it for chemical peeling.
  • The action of acids may cause a slight tingling sensation, but there should be no painful sensations or burning. If they appear, immediately neutralize the effect of the acid and wash off its particles to avoid burns.
  • It is not safe to perform deep facial peels at home, even if they are less intense than in a salon.
  • Home skin cleansing, like salon peeling, is carried out in courses, but not more than once every 10–14 days.
  • Acids have an aggressive effect on the epidermis, after which the fibers are damaged and weakened, so touching your face with your hands in the first days is strictly not recommended. To moisturize the skin, you can use sprays and thermal water.
  • Cosmetics for skin care after the procedure should not contain acids, fragrances, chemical components and abrasive particles. Only soft, natural products will be beneficial for the skin during the recovery period.
  • Any mechanical impact on the integument after cleaning, stripping and scrubbing is unacceptable. This way you will not speed up the peeling of old fibers, but will provoke the formation of scars.

Be careful, low-quality, expired products cause allergies and irritate the skin. It is better to buy peeling ingredients or finished preparations at a pharmacy or from a representative of the manufacturer. At the market and in dubious retail outlets, storage standards are often not observed, as a result of which the products quickly deteriorate.

Popular acid attack methods

Almost all superficial exfoliations performed in a beauty salon can be performed at home without any problems. Cosmetic companies have taken care of their customers and offer separate product lines for home cleansing. Inside each preparation there are instructions with a detailed description of how to do peeling correctly.

Let's consider several popular and worthy methods for home use.

Jessner Peel

One of the most popular acid procedures in modern cosmetology is yellow peeling or Jessner peeling. The composition for facial exfoliation includes several acids at the same time (lactic, salicylic and resorcinol). Their complex action deeply cleanses the skin, normalizes metabolic processes, activates collagen synthesis and prevents the appearance of pimples and blackheads on the face.

The full course of this type of exfoliation is conditionally divided into 3 stages:

  1. Deep cleansing and acceleration of intracellular processes.
  2. Rejuvenating effect, correction of facial surface relief.
  3. Fights extensive acne, deep wrinkles and age-related defects.

Each stage differs in the number of layers of application of the peeling agent and, accordingly, the depth of impact on the skin. However, the algorithm of actions is the same:

  1. Cleanse your face of oil and dust.
  2. Apply an exfoliant.
  3. Neutralize the acid.
  4. We remove the remaining acid preparation.
  5. Soothe the skin with moisturizer.

For the first stage, one layer is enough, for the second - two and for the third - three. Each subsequent layer is applied 5 minutes after the previous one. For patients with sensitive skin, the third layer is applied after a short period of time to prevent the appearance of wounds on the face.

Skin care after peeling is an equally important stage of the procedure. To avoid unpleasant marks on your face from acid exposure, adhere to the following rules:

  • After exfoliation, wash with acidified water. Movements should be as soft as possible, non-traumatic;
  • do not peel off peelings and crusts formed after a chemical burn, wait for their natural rejection;
  • do not visit the bathhouse, solarium, sauna and swimming pool, postpone physical activity and sports until the skin is completely restored;
  • For a month, avoid sunbathing, avoid direct rays of the sun;
  • use sunscreen cosmetics every day for 3-4 months to prevent pigmentation from appearing on your face;
  • do not use decorative cosmetics in the first 7–10 days;
  • Do not use cosmetic products containing alcohol, aggressive chemical additives, or fragrances until the skin is completely restored.

Milk peeling

Lactic acid is contained in small quantities in the cells of the epidermis, so the cleansing technique of the same name is easily accepted by the skin, as a rule, without complications and lengthy rehabilitation. Let's look at how to do a chemical peel with lactic acid at home:

  1. 2 weeks before the planned cleansing, postpone sunbathing, and add a cream with a small amount of lactic acid to your daily care.
  2. Check how the skin reacts to the acidic composition: apply a little product to your wrist and wait for the reaction. Severe burning, pain and irritation are unacceptable.
  3. Cleanse your face with tonic or cleansing gel.
  4. Apply a diluted milk solution (lactic acid concentration should not exceed 10%). Do this with cotton swabs in parallel stripes from the forehead to the chin. It is important to distribute the composition evenly so as not to burn out individual areas.
  5. For the first procedure, limit yourself to 1 minute of exposure to the skin, then increase this time to 3 minutes.
  6. To neutralize the effect of the acid, treat your face with a weak alkaline solution (1 teaspoon of baking soda per 200 ml of water). Rinse off any remaining medication with plenty of water.
  7. Moisturize your face with cream.

Carry out the next cleansing procedure at least 7–10 days later. In general, the course of peelings is up to 5 procedures.

The main rule of the rehabilitation period is that you cannot use products containing retinol, and in the first days, fatty creams are also unacceptable. Otherwise, the recommendations are general: no thermal effects (baths, saunas, compresses, physical activity) and intensive hydration of damaged tissues.

Glycolic peeling

This type of cleansing is safe and hypoallergenic. The procedure allows you to improve metabolism in epidermal cells, smooth out wrinkles and folds on the face, even out your complexion and eliminate acne problems. Visible changes will become noticeable after just a few procedures.

This type of exfoliation will be useful at 25 and 45 years of age. Glycolic acid with a concentration of 10–15% is used for cleansing.

Glycolic acid peeling is performed in the following order:

  1. The face is cleaned of dust and makeup particles.
  2. To degrease the skin, the face is additionally wiped with a lotion based on glycolic acid (5%).
  3. An exfoliant (glycolic acid up to 15%) is applied to the skin in an even, thin layer. Wrinkles and problem areas can be re-treated. Use cotton swabs to apply the product. Start peeling from the forehead area, gradually moving down to the chin. It is better not to touch the sensitive area around the eyes, eyelids and lips.
  4. After applying the product, wait a while for the ingredient to take effect. Then apply a neutralizing gel. Rinse off the remaining acid composition with warm water.
  5. Secure the result with a natural nourishing mask and moisturizer.

Attention! Do not increase the acid concentration above 15% to avoid causing a severe chemical burn. For more pronounced results, contact a specialist, because doing deep peeling at home is very dangerous.

Alternative home cleaning options

Effective peeling can be done using available products. Their recipes are simple and do not require long preparation. Let's look at the best of them.

Aspirin for facial cleansing

This type of cleansing is suitable for problematic and oily skin. After the first session, oily shine will disappear, pores will be cleaned, and acne will become less noticeable and inflamed. All this is due to the antibacterial and drying properties of aspirin.

To prepare the peeling solution you will need:

  • aspirin (1–2 tables);
  • 1 tsp. honey;
  • 1 tsp. cooled boiled water;
  • egg yolk.

To perform peeling, follow the following sequence of actions:

  1. Grind the aspirin and dissolve it in water.
  2. Then add the remaining ingredients to the mixture. Stir the mixture thoroughly.
  3. Distribute the prepared composition onto the face area as a regular mask. To do this, use a brush.
  4. After applying, leave the mixture on your face for 5 minutes.
  5. The product is removed with a cotton pad soaked in warm water or a weak alkaline solution. Do this delicately so as not to damage the skin.
  6. Follow with a light moisturizer.

Lemon juice instead of chemicals

You can use lemon to remove dirt, dead cells and whiten your skin. Lemon peeling is performed in this order:

  1. Squeeze the juice from the lemon and strain it.
  2. Soak a cotton pad in the concentrate, and then wipe your previously cleansed face with it. Do not apply the composition around the eyes, lips or eyelids.
  3. After 10–15 minutes, wash with warm water.
  4. Moisturize your face with cream.

Attention! Do not use citric acid for cleansing, only lemon juice.

The procedure is simple but effective. In addition, lemon juice whitens the skin, fills cells with nutritional components, vitamins, normalizes metabolic processes and skin regeneration.

For home peeling, you can use any fruits and berries. They will fill the epidermal cells with life-giving elements and will not harm. Those with dry skin types are recommended to use softer peels with kefir (it contains a large amount of lactic acid). Remember, the secret of long youthful skin lies in high-quality and timely care, which can be provided even at home! Exfoliating your face, body, and hands at home is convenient, affordable and very useful!

In order for the skin to be toned and look great, its cells must be constantly renewed. Naturally, keratinized scales accumulate on the surface of the skin, which interfere with regeneration and mix with external impurities. To remove this layer and activate the renewal process, peeling is needed.

Scrubbing helps improve microcirculation. And if the manufacturer has added antioxidants to its product, then the product also has a rejuvenating effect.

Peeling at home

Preparing for home peeling

Since home peeling (exfoliation) is part of standard beauty care (we will talk about small differences for different skin types below), no special preparation is required for it, unlike salon procedures. For home peeling to be as effective as possible, the only requirement is thorough preliminary cleansing of the skin.

    Remove makeup and surface impurities using milk or micellar water.

    Regular washing with foam or gel.

Although exfoliation is called deep cleansing of the skin, it cannot replace simple cleansing. First, remove makeup and wash. © iStock

After this, you can apply an exfoliator. Otherwise, the product will not reach the skin directly.

Mechanical exfoliants (scrubs, gommages) are applied to damp skin, massaged into the face and then washed off, while homemade chemical peeling (lotions and creams with acids) works better on dry, cleansed skin.

Rules for home peeling

Yes, peeling is an effective procedure, but it is also stressful for the skin. So don't forget about safety rules.

  1. 1

    Exfoliate in the evening. New cells, which are hidden under dead old ones, are vulnerable to environmental factors: cold, heat, ultraviolet radiation. And the night after the procedure will be useful for adaptation.

  2. 2

    Apply scrubs to damp skin . The process should resemble a light massage: gentle circular movements from the center of the face to the periphery. From the forehead to the temples, from the chin to the ears and above, from the tip of the nose to the cheekbones.

  3. 3

    Do not apply peeling (scrub, gommage) to the area around the eyes and lips.

  4. 4

    The session should last 2–3 minutes. Then rinse thoroughly with water.

If you choose a film mask as a peeling product, apply it only to dry skin. Distribute over the entire face, except the area around the eyes and lips, and leave for 15–20 minutes. The mask should harden, after which it is removed by carefully lifting the film from below. Rinse off any remaining residue or remove it with a damp sponge.

Care after home peeling

After exfoliation (deep cleansing), equally deep care is required. So, it's time to use:

    moisturizing and/or nourishing mask;

    serum;

    the next day - enhanced sun protection.

After peeling, their effect will be as effective as possible.

Mechanical peeling can be done without restrictions all year round, but immediately after it you need to be more careful with your own skin and apply a protective cream before leaving the house in winter, and take care of sun protection in summer. After a chemical peel, even the gentlest one at home, a high SPF is required!

Types of home peeling

Scrub

The most common exfoliator contains micro-abrasive particles that abrade the skin and remove dead cells. The scrub may be too aggressive for dry and/or sensitive skin.

It’s good if the scrub contains both exfoliating and absorbing components, like the “Clean Skin Active” scrub from Garnier with charcoal. Such products effectively remove dirt.

If your skin is prone to imperfections, choose products with zinc (regulates sebum production) and soothing panthenol.

Gommage

The best thing you can think of for sensitive and dry problem skin. Pay attention to the “Soft Scrub” from La Roche-Posay.

Gommages do not contain abrasives, but they may contain fruit acids and components with a care function. 15–20 minutes after application, the gommage is rolled off the surface of the skin, removing it along with the scales of the stratum corneum of the epidermis.

Film mask

Useful if your skin is prone to the formation of blackheads. By removing the film mask in one sharp movement, you will remove both impurities and dead skin cells.

Scrub mask

Exfoliates dead cells and cleanses the skin of impurities. Usually it contains clay, and sometimes several types of it. So, in the “Magic of Clay” scrub mask from L'Oréal Paris there are three types of clay:

    kaolin removes impurities;

    montmorillonite works on problem areas;

    Ghassoul makes the skin fresh and radiant.

Acid-based creams and gels

The most common are products with salicylic and fruit acids. They accelerate skin regeneration processes, while being quite gentle. This approach is justified in the fight against wrinkles and pigmentation, as well as acne. Such products are usually used more than once a week, sometimes even daily. However, it is important to follow the manufacturer's recommendations.

    Peeling should be carried out at the frequency indicated on the product label.

    Apply the product to your face using smoothing movements.

    After peeling, use a moisturizing mask, cream or serum with hyaluronic acid, oils, and seaweed extract.

Oily skin

All peeling products are suitable. But the best way to deal with enlarged pores, excess sebum and blackheads is a scrub or film mask.

    Exfoliate regularly.

    Apply scrubs in circular movements strictly along massage lines. Remove the film mask after 15–20 minutes, from bottom to top.

    After peeling, use a soothing and sebum-regulating product with zinc. Garnier's steaming mask for oily skin already contains zinc and exfoliating clay.

Combination skin

Acid-based peels will come in handy. If blackheads often form on oily areas of the skin, use cleansing masks with clay.

Special products help cope with adult acne - such as serum for correcting acne and age-related skin changes Blemish & Age Defense, SkinCeuticals, which combines glycolic and salicylic acids. Result: a gentle effect for dry areas plus effective peeling and sebum regulation in oily areas.

Problem skin

Alternate peeling based on fruit acids, film masks and scrub masks. The latter include a clay mask that deeply cleanses and exfoliates the skin, Purefect Skin 2 in 1 Pore Mask, Biotherm, which contains both cleansing white clay, which draws out impurities from the pores, and diatoms, which act as an exfoliant. If inflammation is active, exfoliation is not recommended.

With the advent of fashion for natural and organic cosmetics, the word “chemical” began to be associated with something unnatural, alien or even dangerous. But in the case of a procedure such as peeling, this characteristic takes on a completely different meaning. Chemical peeling at home is a simple and effective way to completely transform your skin. If you follow all the recommendations, amazing results will be achieved very quickly.

  1. Chemical peeling is based on the active action of acids on the facial skin. It is indicated for various skin defects.
  2. There is superficial, medium and deep peeling. They differ in the duration of exposure and the compositions used. You cannot perform deep peeling at home.
  3. There are contraindications to the procedure, including chronic diseases and exacerbations of skin diseases.
  4. Before carrying out the procedure at home, it is necessary to prepare the skin to accept the acid solution.
  5. To do peeling correctly, you must strictly follow the instructions.
  6. You can use ready-made products as a peeling composition or prepare them yourself.
  7. Further skin care is very important for successful peeling.
  8. The procedure has pros and cons. Before you do it, you need to read all the information provided.

The essence of the procedure and indications for its implementation

Chemical peeling involves applying various acidic compounds to the skin. When they interact with tissues, they cause a chemical burn. This damage triggers repair processes. As a result, renewed skin is smooth, healthy and free of previous defects.

If in the salon such peelings are carried out using concentrated and potentially dangerous solutions, then at home they are replaced with safer means. For independent use, special masks, solutions of fruit acids, as well as mixtures based on hydrogen peroxide, calcium chloride, salicylic acid and other components are used.

What effects can you expect from home chemical peels?

  1. Deep cleansing of the skin by removing dead cells.
  2. Increasing tone and eliminating age-related changes (expression wrinkles, small folds).
  3. Removing pigmentation and evening out facial tone.
  4. Improvement in acne.

The listed defects are indications for the procedure.

Types of chemical peels

Acid exposure can occur both on the surface of the skin and at its deep levels. This depends on the characteristics of the drug used and the duration of the procedure. There are superficial, medium and deep chemical peels.

Superficial peeling It involves only the upper layers of the skin and is therefore safe to do on your own at home. In addition to correcting minor pigmentation, acne and the first signs of aging, it can be used for prevention. The developed acid compositions effectively affect the skin without causing complications.

Medium chemical peel acts on the deeper layers of the skin. It was originally developed for use in cosmetology and beauty salons. But provided all precautions are taken, it can be successfully carried out at home. The active substances in this procedure are salicylic and trichloroacetic acids or combinations thereof. They successfully fight severe skin problems, including: “crow’s feet”, medium-depth wrinkles; scars, scars and other manifestations of post-acne; chronic redness; strong pigmentation.

Deep peeling is a radical method that affects all layers of the skin. Its goal is to completely replace problematic skin with young tissue. This procedure can be considered a real plastic surgery, since it is performed under anesthesia in a hospital setting. It is impossible to do deep peeling at home.

Contraindications

In what cases are home chemical peels contraindicated?

  1. Pregnancy and lactation period.
  2. Menstruation.
  3. Cuperosis.
  4. Skin hypersensitivity.
  5. Acne is in the acute stage.
  6. Seasonal allergies.
  7. Fever and viral infections.
  8. Damage to the skin in the area of the procedure (abrasions, wounds, inflammation).
  9. Thyroid diseases.
  10. Individual intolerance to drugs. Before first use, you must perform a simple allergy test. Apply a few drops of the product to your wrist. Monitor your skin condition carefully. If severe redness, itching or pain occurs, do not undergo the procedure.

Some experts prohibit chemical peeling during periods of increased solar activity (from April to October). This is due to the fact that thinned skin loses its protective properties. Coupled with powerful ultraviolet radiation, this can cause extensive pigmentation and serious diseases.

But many dermatologists and cosmetologists allow peelings in spring and summer if certain requirements are met. precautions. They suggest:

In order for the skin to respond well to peeling, it needs preliminary preparation. 2-3 weeks before the planned start of the course, you must introduce into your daily care any product containing 2-4% acids. This could be a tonic, cream or cleanser. It must be used at night. This will thin the top layer of skin, making it more susceptible to the peeling components, and at the same time reduce sensitivity.

Next, you should choose a homemade chemical peel recipe or purchase a ready-made product.

Also for the procedure you will need:

  • glass container for mixing components;
  • fan-shaped brush or cotton swabs;
  • petrolatum;
  • clean towel;
  • soothing mask;
  • nutritious cream.

How to carry out the procedure yourself

  1. Wash your hands with antibacterial soap.
  2. Cleanse your skin. Remove makeup and use your regular cleanser. Rinse your face with water and dry with a towel.
  3. Apply Vaseline to the eye area, eyebrows and lips. This will protect delicate areas of the skin from the aggressive effects of acid.
  4. Prepare the composition and apply it with a brush or cotton swab. Start with the nose and chin, then cover the forehead and cheeks. Distribute the product evenly, treating each area only once.
  5. Leave on for 3-12 minutes depending on skin sensitivity and treatment number. If this is your first time doing a chemical peel, keep it to a minimum time. Constantly monitor the condition of your skin and track your own sensations. If you notice that your face is very red, unpleasant itching or painful sensations appear, stop the procedure immediately.
  6. Rinse off the peeling with cool water and rinse your face several times. After this, you need to make a soothing mask. You can use a ready-made mask, or use aloe gel or rich sour cream.

Recipes

You don’t have to buy a ready-made product intended for chemical peeling at home, but prepare it yourself. Try one of the following recipes.

Chemical peeling with bodyaga. You will need 2 tbsp. dry bodyaga powder and hydrogen peroxide. Bring the mixture to a creamy texture and wait until it stops foaming. This peeling effectively fights pigmentation and expression lines. It's easy to make it yourself at home.

Classic medium peeling. In a glass container, combine 30 ml of glycerin and camphor alcohol. Add 10 ml of ammonia and 10 g of boric acid. Stir until smooth and add 30 ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide. Grate a small piece of baby soap on a fine grater. Using soap shavings, bring the mixture to a creamy state. The finished cream can be placed in a container and stored in the refrigerator throughout the course.

Chemical peeling at homewith calcium chloride. For the first procedures you will need a 5% solution. Clean the skin with a cotton swab and apply cosmetic milk to it. Then use a cotton swab to spread the solution over your face. Let it dry and reapply. For the first time, limit yourself to 4 layers, gradually increasing them to 8. After the last layer has dried, lather your fingers with baby soap and carefully roll the peeling off the skin. Wash your face with water.

Salicylic peeling. Grind 3 aspirin tablets and mix them with 1/2 tsp. liquids. This could be water, yogurt, kefir or juice. Leave to sit for 5 minutes.

Further skin care

Chemical peeling at home is not limited to the procedure itself. Its effectiveness and the speed of subsequent skin restoration largely depend on further care.

On the first day after the procedure, it is very important not to touch the skin so as not to injure it. If you exfoliated during the day, avoid evening washing and care. If your face is very shiny, just blot it with a napkin.

If your skin still looks red and sore the next morning, repeat the soothing mask and avoid using makeup. The use of mineral powder is allowed.

Do not forget that throughout the course you need to use sunscreen and avoid prolonged and direct exposure to ultraviolet rays.

For the best result, cosmetologists recommend a series of peelings of 6-10 procedures with an interval of 1-2 weeks. The frequency of peelings and their duration depend on the condition of the skin and its individual characteristics. In the absence of severe redness, inflammation and hypersensitivity, they can be performed more often, gradually increasing the exposure time. Only one course can be taught per year.

At home, deep peeling is designed to help cleanse the skin of keratinized scales and residual sebum without resorting to the services of a cosmetologist. Special acids and other components of cleansing compositions penetrate deep into the epidermis, forming an even skin color, eliminating acne and comedones and providing a light lifting effect. The procedure is very quick and easy, requiring virtually no prior preparation. But you must understand that deep exposure, as opposed to superficial exposure, can lead to various side effects.

The essence of peeling

Deep peeling involves cleaning not only the keratinized scales that have accumulated on top of the skin, but also, by affecting other layers of the epidermis, it frees the pores from sebum residues and starts the process of skin rejuvenation.

If you are going to carry out deep peeling at home, be sure to read the contraindications and follow all antiseptic rules. Remember, such cleaning has a higher risk of side effects, in particular burns.

As cosmetology practice shows, superficial peeling is not able to improve skin regeneration and eliminate pimples, blackheads and acne. The result is delayed by 5–7 days. Medium peeling cleanses pores well. But The most effective is considered to be the deep version of the effect on the epidermis. This peeling not only cleanses, but also starts the process of regeneration of the skin by burning, nourishing and creating access to a better supply of oxygen. The result after a deep peeling procedure is delayed for several months.

Important point: At home, it is prohibited to use highly concentrated compounds (over 20% acids). If you buy ready-made solutions, the peeling agents are washed off with special neutralizers. Making a paste or solution at home? Then, for rinsing, use ordinary slightly acidified water or neutralize the composition with a soda solution.

There are various peeling options. Jessner's peeling, carried out with a preparation based on salicylic acid, retinol peeling, facial cleansing with AHA acids and the use of trichloroacetic acid and calcium chloride have proven positive.

Deep peeling:

  • normalizes the functioning of the sebaceous glands;
  • cleans pores of subcutaneous fat and keratinized scales (dead cells);
  • eliminates dirt and makeup residues;
  • tones the skin and improves microcirculation;
  • saturates cells with oxygen;
  • makes the skin smooth;
  • minimizes wrinkles;
  • smoothes the contour of the face, makes it fit and contributes to the formation of a beautiful oval.

Indications for use

Deep peeling is indicated for both women and men of any age. It is especially relevant during puberty, when changes in the body of adolescents begin, accompanied by excessive secretion of subcutaneous sebum, the formation of blackheads and acne.

The deep peeling procedure is indicated for:

  • skin texture;
  • small wrinkles;
  • greasy;
  • scars and stretch marks;
  • age spots;
  • blackheads and acne;
  • sagging skin;
  • dull color of the dermis.

It is not advisable to carry out deep chemical peels in the summer. It is unlikely that you will be able to avoid sun exposure to your face after the procedure. Under the influence of UV rays, skin weakened after cleansing becomes dry, and pigment spots and cracks can form. If you still decide to carry out the procedure in the summer, then for 2 weeks after the session, smear your face with a protective cream with a protection level of at least 30.

Efficiency

To achieve a visible effect in the case of ready-made solutions, 5 sessions at intervals of a week are sufficient. When preparing peeling products yourself, as a rule, more sessions are required - from 8 to 10.

Important point: If you use high concentration calcium chloride, the next cleaning can only be done after a month. During this period, your skin will recover from exposure to aggressive chemicals and acquire a beautiful color.

You shouldn’t get carried away with deep peeling often. It is advisable to consult a dermatologist or cosmetologist before the procedure.

Preparatory stage

Before peeling with acids, it is necessary to prepare the skin for exposure to aggressive components several weeks before cleansing. For these purposes, lotions are used, which are used to wipe the face several times a day.

It is advisable to cleanse the dermis with a scrub one day before. A few days before the date of the session, you should protect your skin from sunlight.

Immediately before the start of the session, the skin is cleansed of cosmetic residues using makeup remover products.

Be sure to do an allergy test. Apply the paste or liquid used for peeling to your wrist and wait 10-15 minutes. The absence of any changes on the skin indicates that such peeling can be successfully carried out at home.

Try to carry out the procedure in the evening, when the dermis is calm. In addition, you will have another 8-10 hours left for your skin to rest from the effects of aggressive components during your sleep.

Recipes for preparing peeling compositions

You will not be able to perform deep peeling using fruit or scrub masks prepared at home. You will need to visit the pharmacy and purchase ingredients for peeling products or use ready-made solutions from manufacturers of special cosmetics, such as Dermagenetic, Agera RX, Jan Marini, LA Peel, BeautyMed, Cosmedix.
Cleaning the dermis can also be done using devices. For example, at home they use the Gezatone Ionic or KUS 2000 device, which ensures the absorption of cosmetic components using ultrasound, or the Gezatone Super Wet Cleaner, which carries out vacuum cleaning.

It is not necessary to buy special peeling cosmetics in specialized stores, paying several tens or even hundreds of dollars for it. You can prepare a special cleansing substance at home. Strictly follow the proportions indicated in the recipes and select products taking into account the existing problems and expected results.

Based on camphor alcohol against inflammation

Chemical peeling can not only cleanse the skin of impurities, but also eliminate acne and other inflammations of the dermis. After it is carried out, the skin will not only acquire a radiant velvety color, but will become more elastic. Getting rid of small wrinkles is guaranteed.

You will need:

  • 10% ammonia - 10 ml;
  • camphor alcohol - 30 ml;
  • boric acid - 10 ml;
  • glycerin - 10 ml;

  1. In a ceramic or glass container, combine all the alcohols and crushed hydroperite tablets.
  2. Add boric acid and glycerin to the mixture in the correct proportions.
  3. Grate the soap and add the extracted shavings to our base. Mix the ingredients well.
  4. The output should be a creamy consistency.
  5. The resulting mixture can be placed in a jar and placed in the refrigerator. The peeling product is stored in a cool place for several months.
  6. Apply the prepared cream to the skin and wait until it dries.
  7. Rinse off the suspension with a solution of calcium chloride and then with warm water.
  8. After peeling is completed, a moisturizer is applied to the skin.

Peeling roll with calcium chloride for complex cleaning

Calcium chloride perfectly exfoliates dead cells and removes formations from pores, consisting of dirt, subcutaneous fat, remnants of cosmetics and keratinized scales. The suspension is prepared using only two ingredients.

You will need:

  • baby soap.

Application:

  1. Cleanse your skin of cosmetics. Degrease with lotion.

  4. Lubricate the ends with soap with your finger and make massage movements that will ensure that the peeling agent rolls off along with the impurities.
  5. When no more beading occurs, wash your face with warm water.

Interesting to know: Highly concentrated calcium chloride is used in the salon. For home peeling, it is best to take 5–10% product. For the first cleaning procedure, limit yourself to the minimum concentration.

Salicylic acid - fights pimples, blackheads and acne

Salicylic acid can eliminate sebum and dead skin cells that accumulate in the pores of the skin, leading to the formation of acne. The product is purchased at the pharmacy. It also has antiseptic properties, preventing the spread of inflammatory processes.

Carrying out the procedure:

  1. Remove makeup from the skin.
  2. Apply the product to the skin with a cotton pad.
  3. We wait 5 minutes.
  4. Remove the product with neutralizing foam.

To deep clean pores at home, many women choose weakly concentrated trichloroacetic acid. For the first time, use a gentle composition - up to 8%. Subsequent sessions can be carried out with more concentrated acid - up to 20%.

Application:

  1. Dilute the acid with water in the proportions specified by the manufacturer.
  2. Wash with soap and disinfect your skin with witch hazel tincture.
  3. Prepare the neutralizer: 2 tsp. soda per glass of water.
  4. Dip a cotton swab into the solution and apply a small layer over the skin of the forehead, chin, and cheeks.
  5. Let stand for 3-4 minutes until a white coating appears.
  6. Apply neutralizer.
  7. Wash your face with cold water.
  8. For care, it is recommended to use medications containing an antibiotic, for example, Neasporin.

Peeling with retinolic acid - maximum deep cleansing for a long period

Thanks to retinol and glycolic acids, it not only ensures good cleaning of pores, but also improves skin regeneration.

It is considered the deepest among all peelings allowed at home. It is quite traumatic, so compliance with all recommendations is required.

You will need to purchase at the pharmacy:

  • retinolic acid;
  • glycolic acid (5%).

Stages of the procedure:

  1. We remove makeup and degrease the skin with lotion.
  2. We moisten the skin with glycolic acid, which will soften the epidermis.
  3. We apply a product based on retinolic acid.
  4. After the time specified in the instructions has passed, wash off the peeling composition with a neutralizer.
  5. After 8 hours, the remaining neutralizer is removed with ordinary warm water.

After the procedure, redness and burning may occur. During the rehabilitation period, treat the skin with a nourishing cream to prevent cracks from forming on it.

Phenol peeling is a universal remedy for all problems

Phenol can cause a 3rd degree burn, after which the process of restoration of the epidermis begins, as well as the production of collagen, which makes the skin elastic and taut.

To carry out this peeling, seek help from a friend or mother, since your eyes must be closed during the session. But it’s best when an experienced cosmetologist performs the procedure at home.

You will need:

  • 30 ml phenol;
  • 20 ml bidistilled water;
  • 5 ml hexachlorophen;
  • 10 drops croton oil.

Preparation and use:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a ceramic or glass bowl.
  2. Hide your hair under a cap, wash your skin with soap and wipe with alcohol lotion.
  3. Sit on a couch or chair with your face raised at a 45-degree angle.
  4. First, the product is applied to the forehead, then the cheeks, chin and nose. The area near the lips is treated if necessary. The peeling agent is applied in strokes along the edges of the face.
  5. After 3 minutes, the solution must be neutralized. For this, 10–15% sodium bicarbonate is used. Then the composition is washed off with water.

Important point: If a grayish-white coating or blistering occurs, immediately remove the cosmetic product to neutralize it.

Photos before and after

Rehabilitation period

Immediately after the procedure, rinse off the composition with a neutralizer or cold water. To soothe the skin, use a decoction of sage or chamomile.

The recovery period of the dermis will depend on the individual characteristics of the body, compliance with the recommendations of the post-period and the correctness of the procedure itself. Redness, peeling, and the formation of white spots are possible for several days. If such manifestations do not go away within two days, most likely something went wrong.

Be sure to use moisturizing or nourishing creams at the end of the session and in the following days. Preparations based on D-panthenol or baby cream may be suitable. Some cosmetologists prescribe their patients special creams and ointments based on antibiotics, which will prevent the development of inflammatory processes.

Prohibitions:

  • do not wash your face for a day; in the following days, carefully wash your face with acidified boiled water and lightly dry with a towel;
  • Do not use decorative cosmetics for 2 days;
  • for the first 2 weeks, do not apply any other products to the skin that are not intended for the rehabilitation period;
  • for the first 3 weeks, massage or steam your face;
  • stay out of the sun for 2 days;
  • When crusts appear, they are not allowed to be peeled off.

Important point: If the skin develops rashes, severe redness, blisters and age spots that do not go away a week after the procedure, consult a dermatologist or cosmetologist.

Precautionary measures

Every woman who cares for herself wants to deep cleanse the skin using acids at home after studying positive reviews. But the procedure itself has a list of limitations:

  • pregnancy and breastfeeding;
  • elevated temperature;
  • acute respiratory infections and other viral diseases;
  • taking antibiotics;
  • diabetes mellitus, thyroid problem;
  • serious liver and kidney diseases;
  • oncology;
  • herpes in the acute stage;
  • tendency to scarring;
  • fungal skin infections and severe inflammatory processes;
  • close location of vessels;
  • wounds and cuts;
  • allergy to the components of the prepared or purchased product;
  • critical days;
  • taking retinoids.

If the instructions for the procedure are not followed, the following negative manifestations are possible:

  • redness that lasts more than 48 hours;
  • burns and blistering;
  • formation of pigment spots;
  • exacerbation of herpes and the appearance of a large amount of acne;
  • excessive peeling;

To avoid negative consequences, strictly maintain the chemical composition on your face for the right amount of time, and also adhere to the interval specified in the instructions. If severe burning or pain occurs, remove the paste or acid immediately without waiting for the specified period of exposure. Strictly adhere to the rules of the rehabilitation period.

Advantages and disadvantages

Among the advantages of the procedure carried out independently are:

  • duration of effect;
  • no need to undergo special training;
  • saving money and time;
  • the result is noticeable after the first session;
  • It really cleanses the pores and makes the skin smooth and uniform.

As with any other procedure, deep peeling has its drawbacks. For example, you will probably encounter:

  • long rehabilitation period;
  • increased sensitivity of the skin to the irritant;
  • some side effects.

Also, women living in areas with poor ecology or in hot climates are not recommended to go outside for the first few days. In the summer, when going out into the sun, you need to protect your skin from ultraviolet exposure for several weeks.

It is no coincidence that deep peeling gained its popularity. If you follow the recommendations of the procedure and the rehabilitation period, you can really get rid of acne, bumps and wrinkles. The results of such deep cleaning will last for several months, or even years.

Live healthy! Chemical peeling.

Without peeling, it is impossible to imagine comprehensive facial skin care, because it is considered its basis; it is peeling that gives the skin a healthy color and radiant appearance, increases elasticity and eliminates various cosmetic defects. Unfortunately, not everyone can do this kind of peeling in a salon. An excellent alternative to professional peeling is chemical peeling at home. Of course, the effect of the procedure will be weaker, but if it is carried out systematically, an excellent result is guaranteed.

Features of peeling at home.
Home chemical peeling is carried out using masks and compositions specially designed for this purpose, which contain solutions of fruit acids (lactic, citric, malic, etc.) and enzymes that dissolve dead layers of skin cells. Despite such a different concentration of solutions for home peeling compared to compositions for a professional procedure, before carrying out it, it is necessary, if possible, to consult a cosmetologist for advice and carefully study the instructions for use. The key to the effectiveness of the procedure is strict adherence to all its stages.

In addition to cleansing, chemical peeling solves various skin problems: smoothes wrinkles, makes them less noticeable or completely eliminates scars, acne spots, lightens age spots, normalizes sebum production, removes sebaceous plugs and tightens pores. The peeling procedure at home improves metabolic processes in cells and their regeneration and renewal.

The chemical peeling procedure increases the skin's sensitivity to ultraviolet radiation, so it is advisable to carry it out during periods of low solar activity (deep autumn, winter, cool spring). Of course, such peeling can be done in the summer, but a week before the planned date and ten days later you should not be in the open sun (beach, solarium). It is always necessary to use sunscreen, but after a chemical peel, their use is mandatory for two weeks, and the SPF or sunscreen filter must be at least 40. Such products must be applied in a circular motion to dry skin in an even thin layer, including on the contours of the lips and outer corners of the eyes.

Indications for chemical peeling.

  • Prevention of aging.
  • Correction of age-related signs.
  • Oily skin, enlarged pores.
  • Dull skin with signs of aging and sagging.
  • Presence of age spots.
  • Thickening of the superficial layers of the skin.
  • Consequences of acne and pimples (traces, spots).
Contraindications for chemical peeling at home.
  • Skin diseases in the acute stage (acne, dermatitis, acne, etc.).
  • Hypersensitivity to the components of the peeling solution.
  • Herpes is in the active stage.
  • Violation of skin integrity.
  • Skin inflammation.
  • Presence of neoplasms.
  • Thin and sensitive skin.
  • Diseases of the cardiovascular system.
  • The presence of rosacea or spider veins on the face.
  • Diseases of a mental nature.
  • The period of pregnancy and lactation.

Basic rules for performing chemical peeling at home.
A test for allergies to the drug used must be done in advance; if it is negative and if there are no other contraindications to the procedure, it can be performed.

To prevent burns, the chemical peeling composition must be evenly distributed in a thin layer. The composition can be purchased, or you can use the recipes discussed below.

Cleansing the skin before peeling is mandatory!

In case of severe tingling, burning with signs of redness of the skin or other signs of discomfort, you should immediately rinse the solution with warm water, and then make a compress from the infusion of the string and apply it cool.

The frequency of procedures at home should not exceed once every ten days.

For a day or two after peeling, it is advisable not to touch your face with your hands and use decorative cosmetics (only protective creams).

To carry out the procedure at home, you don’t need much: a clean towel with good absorbency, a cosmetic composition with acid, a cleanser (milk, gel), a product to restore the pH balance of the skin, a product with a moisturizing effect.

When purchasing formulations for chemical peeling at home, it is important that they contain ingredients such as azelaic acid, phytic acid or vitamin C. This will ensure an effective result.

Stages of chemical peeling at home.
Read the instructions carefully before using chemical peeling compounds.

First, we cleanse the skin using the milk or gel included with the kit, or the regular one you use.

Next, apply a small amount of peeling onto dry skin, trying not to affect the sensitive area around the eyes. We keep the peeling composition on the face for no more than five minutes; here you should take into account the type of skin and the concentration of acid in the solution. During this time, there should be a slight tingling sensation that does not cause any inconvenience.

After the exposure time specified in the instructions, wash it off with warm water. At the end of the procedure, we apply liquid to the skin to restore the natural balance of the skin (pH), it is also included in the kit. Next, moisturize the skin with cream.

Results of chemical peeling.
Chemical peeling gives the skin health, restores its lost firmness and elasticity, gives it radiance and smoothness. Systematically carried out procedures for exfoliating dead cell layers accelerate cellular renewal and have a stimulating effect on the production of our own elastin and collagen, which are responsible for youthful skin. As a result of a course of procedures (depending on the problem), wrinkles and wrinkles are smoothed out or become less noticeable, acne spots and marks are smoothed out or completely disappeared, pores become clean, noticeably narrowed, the skin is tightened, and elasticity increases. As a result, a pronounced effect of skin rejuvenation is observed.

Recipes for home peelings.

Chemical peeling with calcium chloride.
This peeling can be done in two ways. In the first case, you will need a 5% solution of calcium chloride (buy at a pharmacy); for further convenience, it is advisable to pour it from the ampoule into a glass vessel (bottle). We do everything according to the points described above. First we clean the skin, then dry it, then apply a solution of calcium chloride. Application should be carried out in layers, as the previous one dries, apply the next layer. As a result, you need to apply from four to eight layers. For the first time, you should limit yourself to four layers. When the last layer has dried, take baby soap and soap your fingertips. Use gentle movements to roll the mixture off the skin; the dead layers of cells will also be removed along with the solution. Next, wash off the remaining composition from your face with warm water and then cool water. Pat your skin dry again and apply moisturizer. Next time you can slightly increase the concentration of the solution, up to a total of 10%, no more.

The second method uses the same calcium chloride solution, only the method of application will be different. It is necessary to moisten a cosmetic sponge in the solution and apply to a cleansed face. Wait one or two minutes, lather the same sponge with baby soap and begin to treat the skin with light circular movements, following the lines of least stretch of the skin. The result will be the same. After this, you need to wash your face and moisturize your skin with cream. Despite the gentle procedure, it should be performed once every ten days, not more often.

Classic chemical peeling at home.
In a container convenient for mixing, put 30 ml of glycerin and camphor alcohol, add 10 ml of ammonia solution (10%), 10 g of boric acid, 2 tablets of 1.5 g of hydroperite (or replace 30 ml of hydrogen peroxide (3%)) . Grind a small piece of good quality baby soap. Add the grated soap a little at a time, stirring regularly, into the mixture to form a creamy white foam. It can be placed in a jar with a lid and stored in the refrigerator (no more than three months). So, we use this cream, apply it to the face and, after drying, wash it off with a 10% calcium chloride solution (10 ml ampoule). Next, you should wash thoroughly, dry your skin and lubricate it with a moisturizing product.

Homemade chemical peeling using bodyaga and hydrogen peroxide.
You need to prepare for the procedure. For oily skin, it is recommended to take a three-minute steam bath; in other cases, you just need to moisten a terry towel in hot water, apply it to your face for a couple of minutes, then cleanse the skin and dry it with a napkin. It is better to pin your hair up and put it under a shower cap; eyebrows, the area around the eyes, and lips should be lubricated with Vaseline for protective purposes. Be sure to wear rubber gloves (thin medical ones)! Now you can proceed directly to the procedure. From 40 g of dry bodyaga you need to prepare a powder; you will need two tablespoons of powder, which must be mixed with a 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide. Stir vigorously until the mixture turns into a cream-like mass.

Apply the composition to the face with a sponge in a circular motion. Having spread it over your face, you need to wait fifteen to twenty minutes (this is how long it takes for the composition to dry). Next, rinse off the composition with warm water, dry the skin and apply boric Vaseline (the first two days). After the third procedure, after the final wash, it is recommended to carry out a short and light self-massage of the face using the following compositions: massage cream plus boric petroleum jelly (equal proportions) or heated olive oil plus boric petroleum jelly (also in equal proportions). After the massage, apply a softening and soothing face mask. You can mix a teaspoon of honey and olive oil, add the yolk, or combine honey and milk, honey and chamomile infusion (parsley, calendula) in equal proportions, or mix honey and yolk, yolk and oil.

A similar procedure should be carried out daily until the skin peels. The oilier the skin, the more treatments will be required. It happens that three procedures are enough. There is no need to warm up the skin during subsequent procedures; just wipe it with a 2% salicylic acid solution. During the period of home peeling, the use of any cosmetic products, that is, skincare and decorative cosmetics (creams, masks, washes), is prohibited. The only thing you need to do is to cover your face from the sun and powder it with talcum powder more often. It is, of course, better to do such peeling in the autumn-winter period. During the period after peeling, the use of sunscreen is mandatory.

A course of home cleansing procedures can be done three times a year, then your skin will remain smooth and radiant. The main thing is not to be lazy, because a procedure such as chemical peeling at home will maintain your beauty and preserve your youth.
